There was a recent study (Walker & Kreiner, 2006) that stated college students who listen to heavy rock and Metal "actually obtain higher IQ test scores on average, particularly on questions where abstraction is required". As for people I know? While at university, it was amazing to see the broad spectrum of Iron Maiden fans in all corners of academia. For me Iron Maiden and earlier bands sparked my love for the deeper things

I do agree though many would argue that there will always (or was) some small sentiment of perhaps forgotten/obscured music that remained unclassified/uncodified by either the band itself or the general public. However, assigning some coherency based on the techniques employed, nature of the music, instruments implemented, etc. would be the best route to assign a genre, I surmise. If a more streamlined/distilled approach was taken, it wouldn't be nearly as impossible for the average human.

This song came out in late 2006. Metal has not been revolutionized since then. Yes Maiden has harder songs. They also have some songs that border on Pop rock. The term "Metal" covers a very big range. Maiden is planted firmly in the center of Metal. That means parts of songs will be hard and other parts will be very "radio friendly". Don't give up on Maiden. Google Top 20 Maiden Songs. Listen to all 20 on 2 or 3 differents lists. Hopefully you will see that hard or soft doesn't define greatness

Nicely said ;) maiden differs from easygoing hits like -Run to the hills -blood brothers -revalations to songs like this and some more rough. no matter how they make the song, the mix of three guitars is a true killer in all of their songs ;) wish there was more metal like this but most modern metal prefers just screaming in way it sounds like a hungry tiger :S i'd like to hear the vocals not a grumbling kitty cat :P anywayz great song :D
