everyone knows (or should) that the major news networks are for entertainment ONLY. If you want real journalism, you get it from blogs, Democracy Now!, or greg palast's website. Everything else is laughable.
bigeffendeal, Yes they have been monitoring this guy for over 3 yrs, nothing happens until this Gov. made a speech the day before saying the state was going to stop dealing with Bank of American because of their predatory leaning. He also was going to have the AG start an investigation on BoA. Like Spitzer who was going to look in to corruption cases. Makes you wonder doesn't it.
Along with Jeremy Scahill, Naomi Klein, Chris Hedges & Seymour Hersh; Palast is one of the last & few doing some out of the box reporting. Check projectcensored(dot)org web site for size...
"A cynical, mercenary, demagogic press will produce in time a people as base as itself" - Joseph Pulitzer
This is a simple case of media following up on minor issues to give the impression that they are holding people to account. In reality the big issues have no oversight , bailout, car bailout, Iraq war, Iran war, $13 trillion public debt, no funding for Medicare, Social Security funding - THERE IS NO OVERSIGHT - this is a media mirage that they are acting on behalf of the people. Who cares that someone can buy a Senate Seat? Barak just brought the election for $740m.
Blago sort of reminds me of a male Sarah Palin: "I'm gonna tell ya' that whatever I say is always lawful, uhh, and the things I'm interested in doin' are always lawful, and, uhh, if there are any, uhh, things like that out there, which you'll hear, is a governor who tirelessly and endlessly figures out ways to help average, ordinary workin' people..."
I greatly appreciate Greg Palast's work, but what's with that raunchy, hokey hat? He doesn't even take it off indoors, or even when in a TV studio, & on the air!
It's great to see Greg on mainstream US TV, though i would prefer some of his stories get coverage rather than merely asking him for some light comments.
freeworld2012. This seems like a fairly straight forward case of blatent corruption which is receiving wide coverage. My point is i think Greg has written many very important stories which seem to be ignored in the US. Cripes, what should i have said?
Yes,but WHY is it recieving such wide attention? And I agree with you re:Palast. The mainstream media bury or slant everything else,WHY is THIS story recieving wide coverage?Especially in the completely corporately owned US media?!I haven't watched TV in years and this "anchor woman" seems more like the gossipy neighbor than reporting on a news story. That's just my opinion of how this anchor, for lack of a better word, talks and behaves re:this "news" story.Peace.
freeworld2012. Yes CNN has gone to town on him as well as many other mainstream news organisations. I guess because he seems to have been so blatently busted. My point remains Greg Palast has written many stories of great importance of similar or even more damaging level of corruption which have not been aired.
Widgit007, I agree. Greg Palast is often ignored by the mainstream media...unless its a homerun case or it benefits the media in some way to show his views.
betomas. I agree. How sad / ironic the mainstream media on one hand gives Greg Palast credit for being a serious journalist and even presenting him in as an "expert on corruption" and yet his most important stories are ignored.
guilty or what//// excuses are nice and actually rotten at the same time...slease then ?

Its looking more and more like 'The Godfather' was quite prophetic about where American politics was heading...
...or maybe they were just bragging by the time those movies were made.

freeworld, you ask..why is it receiving so much attention?
You think he made someone angry higher up on the CFR scale? Did he step out of line like Spitzer?
Maybe he was trying to run his own game outside of the agenda. Maybe he is a distraction..is there something else we should be looking at now?

Surly you must know by now that CNN is Corporately owned by 'you know who'.As is all US media.Hollywood especially.
