I thought the demo was awesome (playing wise, tone wise and what you played) Great Job. Gotta get me one too (though my style is yours at 1/3 speed...lol)
@taxo I had the mids and edge controls turned down. i did this when I first got the amp and should really do another video to show it off better. I used to have the bass up way too high and set it lower now for a more 80's metal tone. Its a phenomenal amp.
ey friend i got that head! are you using a reverb?? i don't have any reverb, and i need some of it ! and i don't know what to buy! hehe :) ... i have the same problem with the delay... but i have a DD7 of BOSS but i connect it for the input with the guitar(bcause if i connect it for effects loop, modifies the amp tone!! ) :/.! what can i do hehe:D
no reverb...these days i have 2 delays in loop. boss dd6 for slapback and mxr carbon copy for longer pink floyd style delays. both dont suck tone. i have a trex room-mate reverb but it does suck tone and i dont really need it. great amp!
Haha, I was in this studio the other day, and the room was full of elmwoods. The guy who owned it was in the same band as the founder and owner of elmwood:P weee, cheap elmwoods for me after that nights jam.
Don't really know which one who's in his band.. Didn't even know elmwood was from that shabby small town in Sweden. Still kinda hard to imagine.. Just look it up on Google Earth or whatever. Tanumshede. Cool that small names from a small town gets so reknown:)
This amp is great from metallica or any sort of thrash, especially with the right pickups. Very versatile. Very fat heavy sound and silky leads. Also a great clean channel and good for blues and classic rock too.
Thinking of selling my SLO to fund one of these, don't know if you've played the SLO?...but, I'm looking for an amp to compliment my Bogner XTC 101b in stereo...do you think a Modena would work well, or would it be too similar?
tough one - the SLO is a legendary amp. I'd be tempted to keep it, although the elmwood is perhaps more versatile allowing more stereo options. You could run the elmwood nice and dark and have the XTC brighter in tone. All great amps. Ive only played a SLO once unfortunately. I'll have to try a stereo rig soon!
Yeah, if you're going to try a stereo rig, the Lehle a/b/y boxes are supposed to be the industry standard. Can't wait to try it with the 2 aforementioned amps. Decided to keep the SLO...incredible amp really, despite the drawbacks with the FX loop and lack of options. Excellent demonstration, btw.
Sounds good - what about I try using a stereo chorus to run two amps. Have you done this before? I dont really need to A/B but it could be cool having the two amps slightly out of phase in stereo?
fine playing as always! Thanks for the demo! Did you sell your JSX? The Elmwood sounds very convincing on this clip to me! How does the amp sound for jazz, blues, malmsteen? Are you happy with the clean? How does it sound at bedroom levels compared to the JSX? And last but not least is it a keeper?
Still have the JSX. Great amp I can't seem to part with. The Elmwood is definately a keeper. Its awesome especially with some volume! Great at bedroom levels too. JSX and M90 both have great MV's. Malmsteen is better through my marshall and a DOD308 - elmwood is more modern but does jazz and blues well on channel 1 (blues with drive on). The clean sounds better turned up with more headroom. Cheers
Thanks a lot for answering! I have terminal GAS and are about to pull the trigger on either a Peavey JSX, Mesa Stiletto, Bogner XTC or Elmwood Modena- unfortunately i can`t have them all :`(( . These are the really tough choices in live! ;)). I really dig the Andy Timmons tone so maybe it`ll be the Mesa? or maybe not?
Oh you have to go the Elmwood or XTC! You can get Andy Timmons Band tone dead on with the JSX ultra channel though. Its real close to my ears. Elmwood and XTC both have fantastic lead channels too and better re-sale value. If you bought a Mesa of JSX you might still be gassing for the bogner and elmwood - they are in a higher class IMO. But all great amps really!
Totally different amps. Elmwood is a modern compressed amp and the Bray is uncompressed. Good for different things. Up loud the Elmwood is pretty sweet and has two channels. I use the Bray for more classic rock tones. Cheers
I have 2 cab's. In the video its going throgh a V30/G1275t mix and for practice I play through a 4x12 with greenbacks. I would say it sounds better through the 4x12 but that's probably because its at much louder volumes and a bigger cab. V30's and H30's sound great through this amp!

A T-Rex would do a great job or a TC Electronics. Cheaper, the Digitech Hardwire or the Rocktron Cyborg are very good too.

One of the best amp demos on the tube, no talking-just playing. Plus an EVH junky too, u can't go wrong w/that!

Can this amplifier get that nice, thick, fat Whiskey in the Jar/Load/Reload/Garage Inc album tone?
