  • This IS indeed a SBD that catches some audience noise bc the audience is so damn close to the stage at Lindley meadows... avail. on archive. o r g dontcha know...

  • Chris your the f,,,,, man this is some goodddddd......... Brother Sam

  • damnit, I was there; I hope that you were!

  • That solo is just too good man. Never have I gotten such intense goosebumps. Fantastic. I love them more than words can tell

  • Big River !!!!!

  • Holy shit!!! Amazing!!!

  • 4:15 -- whoever's having that moment sums it up perfectly

  • Wow, you weren't joking to say one of the best AUDs available. Great show

  • phil sounds good here. my favorite years- '73 78 and 79 85 and 89

  • I was the one guy that disliked this song. I was high, and using my mouse as guitar while dancing about the room (it was better than air in this circumstance). My bad.

  • damn i love this recording

  • here's my favorite years:

    all of them

  • That epic scream at about4:16... I have a feeling I'd do the very same thing.

  • and I was there!

  • my favorit time for the dead was the 89-90 year... right before brent died. however when u can find a good 90s show its fucking killer... 4/28/95 is one of my favorit shows

  • this is a beautiful soundboard -- Jerry did ok, I would almost venture the guess that even though he destroyed himself unfortunately he helped a lot of us find some sort of salvation! Did, Does and Always will for me!

  • What a magical recording! Good 'ol Jerry, how we miss and Love him!

  • I've never weighed in on which eras are better than others, but I will now.....

I've been a DeadHead since 1979 and started trading tapes/attending concerts in the early 80s......and after amassing a 4,000+ hour Live Dead library, at this point in my life I don't listen to much after 1981, with very few exceptions. I'm closing in on 50 years old and life's too short to listen to inferior material.....stick with the 1968-1977 stuff.

    Peace and love to everyone!!

    GRATEFUL DEAD FOREVER

  • @DrVonChilla Funny you say this, I am in this stage as well. As a teenager going to shows all the time we used to listen to God awful 9000th generation cassettes of God awful shows to begin with just because appetite to hear any Dead material was insatiable. And beyond getting a low generation soundboard you didn't have much else. These days I rarely listen to anything like yourself past 77. You really feel the candle burning out after 77, great shows here and there but the energy fades.

  • @pupils777 81 was fanfreakintastic

  • @sydb420 i think it was drugs more than time.

  • I believe it would violate some fundamental law of physics to dislike this song

  • "Nice accurate Travis Bean for this year too...nice touch!" I think it might be completely accurate. Every picture I've seen of this show Jerry's wearing the leather. Just watched some 83 vids. Amazing how in 8 years Jerry went from relatively thin (for him) and looking bad ass in the leather here to looking like a well fed homeless man in 83.

  • @Gossage54 - hi. Yeah, one of the sad things about youtube is we get to see Jerry at so many different stages and suddenly its crystal clear how far he fell in the 80s, from his smack addiction... You can see it so clearly in various videos up here.

  • @chasefukuoka61 Yes you can kind of go down the timeline and pull vids seeing year by year (especially 80-82) the deterioration. And beyond the physical you can see and feel his whole personality being sucked dry by the smack. His lack of presence in the band. If you can find a vid from Merriweather 84 Phil (who probably had too many Heinis) is more animated than I've ever seen him taking control of the band. Possibly out of anger that Jerry had become so catatonic.

  • @Gossage54 - Hi. It sounds like Merriweather 84 would be a bit depressing to watch. I had noticed how Jerry looked almost like he was dosing off in a few 1981 vids. Very sad. Can't believe that many of us hadn't noticed that, back then...

  • @chasefukuoka61 Yeah, the 81 videos, almost everyone I've seen in 20 years has Jerry literally nodding off and bumping into the mic.........84 was a GOOD year, especially the greek theatre shows from that year.....I think 8/13/1984 was a good one...........here are my favorite years.....

    1972

    1977-1978

    1984

    1988

    1990

    1991

  • @pupils777 - Hi. Yeah, my favorite years are pretty much the same. Haven't looked or listened to 84 much but mostly i'm into 1972-74, 77-78 and 1990-91. Some good shows in 76 too, great sound. Also 87 to 89, lol. The big guy sure did rock.

  • @pupils777 Ah my friend don't leave out 74, 73 too but especially 74. If these years didn't do it for ya no worries but man 73 and 74 to me were great. Check out the show Providence 6/26/74 AWESOME audience recording from the great Jerry Moore. I remember having this tape (God know what generation) in high school and wearing it out, such a great show and I love good audience recordings from this period.

  • @chasefukuoka61 Merriweather sure was a fun show though. Cool venue.

  • @Gossage54 Sad, but the bass sounds so good!

  • @Gossage54 yes, very true. To be totally fair though, in 75' he was 32 turning 33, and in 83' he was 40 turning 41 - big difference in body composition for most people. Hopefully, not as drastic as Garcia, but still a difference, nonetheless.

  • @Gossage54 Yeah, very sad evolution to watch... I heard the unraveling in his playing before I saw it. 1978-'79 was the beginning of the end.

  • Nice accurate Travis Bean for this year too...nice touch!

  • @Wharfomatic - thanks--- i'm kinda hit and miss with these videos, lol...

  • This RULES.

  • holy shit this is amazing!!!!!

  • @TheShampow44 - yes, i agree... did you listen to the rest of the show linked above?

  • @chasefukuoka61 thanks dude! way to spread the dead's mastery

  • @chasefukuoka61 hey man i went to that link... could you tell me how to download it into my itunes library?

  • @TheShampow44 - hi. Yeah, go to the page again and on the left side press the link button under "Play/Download" that says VBR ZIP... That will give you a zipped folder with the MP3 files. Open that and then put your mouse on the folder and bring over to iTunes Library, it will add automatically. Let me know if that works!

  • its like hearing a song wrapped in a white silk cloth

  • @dreasim - yeah! Did you check out the link to the recordings below the song? You can download the entire concert for free, from live archive.

  • @chasefukuoka61 heheh i used to only listen to whole shows :) THANK you so much for the link...i heard about this one but never had gotten to.

  • @dreasim - cool. well now you're all set, lol..

  • Awesome franklins...thankies!!!

  • @dreasim - you are most very welcome.....
