  • Never knew the proper way to do this - I always just slopped it on. Thanks so much!

  • Thank you soo much

  • Excellent video. Thank you.

  • awesome scissors x)

  • Thankyou soooo much! i have to play pennant tomorrow and i spilled sporstdrink on my grip making it red and sticky. Yr a lifesaver man. Really nice vid u obviously know what yr doing.

  • 16th of an inch... OMG, get metric system in your glorius country!

  • Thanks!

  • damn i should've watched this first before i went on to just putting it on weird =( lol

  • Thanks a lot, it was really usefull...... very good explanation too, greetings from Mexico

  • Hey my original grip has got sticky....but its still new what can i do to remove the stickiness, the grip is still good, so can u give me a suggestion of how to remove the stickiness, my racket is HEAD Radical Lite. Plsss...

  • @9669cookie what kind of grip is it?

  • @9669cookie Just take a baby wipe, and wipe the grip down. Then leave it to air dry. Also, make sure you wash your hands before you play, as loads of dirt e.t.c doesn't help the grip.

  • Helpful thanks...

  • How much are tennis grips?? I may wanna try it on my badminton racket LOL

  • @orochiThing it depends on the brand of grip you buy and how much grip you buy at one time but single grips usually sell for like $2-$4

  • Will you done one for non-adhesive over grips? I use Tourna Tac grip and I just switched to a different type and I find it difficult to regrip it well every time.

  • @taekwondogrl006 this is for non-adhesive overgrips :/

  • I use Tourna grip and I hate putting the over grip back on it. It's difficult to stretch out and make sure everything is fine.

  • @yoyomasta141

Negative. Adding weight to your racket decreases swing speed. You can't increase head speed by adding weight, anywhere.

  • @YULitle very true

  • @YULitle Yoyo I think you need to rethink that, has been extensive research done on it. There is data, hi speed camera that say the opposite to what your thoughts are.

  • im 5ft 10 is it good for Tennis?

  • @TheLeilisa it's fine, use your height to your advantage, im 5ft 9 and i have one of the biggest serves in my club with good groundstrokes

  • @YyJoBb you have to be 6ft 10

  • @YyJoBb height aint gonna make a difference

  • Comment removed

  • I always start with the fat end on the bottom and the tapered end on top so i don't have to cut it. is that wrong? It works fine for me...

  • will matter which direction of the angle when i cut the tape?

  • How do you tape the first part of the grip? like near the bottom, where the butt cap is, because i always some overgrip sticking out, creating bubbles and lumps.

  • Big help! Thank you for this!

  • wow so very informative.... keep posting idol... love it...

  • great video! very helpful

  • thank you, very helpful !

  • Helpful thank you!

  • really REALLY helpful. thanks a bunch.

  • thank you so much. i'm pretty new tennis but ive had a racket for a long time and this grip was in really bad condition. This video really helped me so much and i really appreciate that it. Much more imformative than other videos i tried to watch!

  • so what does overgrip do anyway? does it have a benefit?

  • @fishyfoxyfishyfoxy ur base grip doesnt get dirty

  • @fishyfoxyfishyfoxy makes the size bigger like if you have a 4 3/8 and its too small it makes it bigger

  • @fishyfoxyfishyfoxy if you don;t like the original grip, or if you like the feel of overgrips like tournagrip

  • Thank you so much for the video, I've been playing tennis for years but never learned how to do a grip. so last time i did it, i think i put it on backwards in lefty fashion. This video helped tremendously.

  • Fantastic instructions! Note from 6:35 on, finishing with that straight line has always been a problem for me until I learned from YULitle. NOW my finished grips look professional. Thanks!

  • yay, i just put a new replacement grip AND overgrip on my racket with your help. this was a great how-to video!

  • thanks a lot!

  • Thanks, man! I had no idea how to do this, and you walked me through it well.

  • I'm left-handed and like he said, it doesn't really matter which way the grooves go, I put mine on how a righty would and it feels pretty nice.

  • Some over grips claim that it DOES NOT increase grip size. Of course it does. The good thing is I never shied away from buying a used racquet I liked if the grip was 4 3/8, I knew when I got it home and put the over grip on it, it would THEN be 4 1/2.

  • Good video man, if you could make one for a replacement grip and send me the link that would be awesome and a lot of help. Good work

  • I saw Raycotennis `s channel. He says that u can put some tape or lead tape under the grip to get MORE topspin. Is this true ? or illeagel ? please answer

  • That doesn't make sense. The only way weight can help topspin is if you have less of it.

  • @YULitle if your racquet is head light it helps a ton but it means u need a heavy handle

  • lead tape does increase your topspin and you put it in the inside of the head of your racket. hope this helps =]

  • @r0baa it can help with topspin because the additional weight will reduce power thereby increasing control this increase in control will allow additional spin. regardless its definitely not illegal

  • @r0baa it will make it less head heavy so, once you get used to the new weight, it will affect the balance of the racket and you will have a bit more control and be able to accelerate the racket a bit easier. But it would probably be better to get ridged strings to add topspin or get a less head heavy racket.

  • @r0baa yea its true, a headlight racket can offer you more spin. while a headheavy gives you more power

  • Thanks a lot! this was really helpful. Semi finals in comp tomorrow

  • What is the best grip for sweaty hands? I have only tried Yonex supergrap but it somehow stops absorbing and dries out. Anwser anybody

  • I use the head hydrosorb. It works pretty well for awhile but then it gets really slick and has given me tennis elbow if you don't replace it frequently enough.

  • I didnt know there was that much to an overgrip. lol.

  • What about a leather replacement grip? Do you need to staple it? Do you just put it like an overgrip?

  • should i take the plastic wrap off?

  • that's not a grip that's an overgrip!!!

  • He said so, dude, like in the first couple of seconds...

  • Ya i know i'm taling about the title

  • great vid, helped me a lot

  • thanks for this. it really helped

  • dont flick us off !!!! lol jking

  • Very helpfull thanks!!!

  • Tennis 4 life!

  • just followed your instructions . PERFECT

  • Thanks for this! Its very helpful! :D

  • its funny how you struggle taking the clear plastic off. haha

  • it worked! watched the vid, bought some Head Pro grip white (great grip) and just did it step by step. it's actually really easy and looks nice. thanks guy

  • no more than 6 dollars forabout 3 rolls

  • which racket is that?

  • wilson nsix-one tour

  • found your face!

  • wow.o.0 you really ask that? You can buy overgrips (packets of 3) 4-7 dollars at pretty to really good stores, but not sports authority(expensive...)

  • only a couple of bucks

  • can you also put up a video on how to install a racquet head protection tape?

  • is there any way to minimize the gap at the bottom of the handle. Where the guy is wrapping the 2nd turn??

  • Great video. Good presentation and explanations, nice pace, good supporting video images. Well done.

  • Thank you for posting this video, just finsihed gripping my raquet and it looks great!!

  • What chemical do you recommend using to clean the base layer? Thanks

  • He talks like Edward Norton, which is cool.

    Very clear and professional presentation!!

  • very true!!!

  • I got 2 grips on my racquet. The one who already comes on her, and a new one (because my hands sweat a lot) but with 2 grips one my racquet she gets too big and harder to hold. Should I take off my original grip (the one who comes with the racquet) ? I'm just afraid that this can damage my racquet.

  • you mean a basicgrip and an overgrip right?

  • by basic grip do you mean the undergrip right?

  • yes, right

  • alright sweet, and one more question, what is the replacement grip? not sure what he means by that?

  • i think its an overgrip, but i am not sure

  • sorry replacement mean basicgrip

  • Thanx to your help i ve just done my first overgrip... because of your video it wasn´t difficult at all

  • Thanks. it is really helpfull

  • thanks that helped a lot

  • thx alot

  • When you mention getting rid of the glue and residue from a previous replacement grip, what solutions do you recommend using? Rubbing alcohol?

  • thx man you realy helped me :)

  • Thanks, proper way to do grips

  • i was putting replacement grip on and i kept stretching it but near the butt cap, i still kept getting bubbles

    sooo annoying

  • I had the same grip! its from prince right?

  • Babolat I think.

  • perfectionist much....? must be at the top of your class..

  • Very concise and you've covered all the little things that most instructors miss out on!! Thanks a lot for the video...

  • omg I didn't even realize the thing with the slants, I'm left handed and I didn't care before but now that I know it bothers me haha, thanks for the tip and all your videos, extremely helpful =] btw this is the one you meant when you said one of your videos has your face in it right?

  • I Know my racket was actually left handed (I'm right handed) and after watching this video I keep getting pissed off at my racket because it feels uncomfortable.

  • is a overgrip the same as a normal grip normail i mean the first layer grip ?

  • the replacement grip is thicker

  • Though Rafael Nadal skips out the replacement grip and layers the racket with two overgrips...

  • are you sure???

  • cheers !

  • grip + a grip you put on it = over grip ( double+ + layers)

only replace 1 grip after removing everything from your handle = replacement grip which mean you replace new one

  • Wait, so I have my racquet and I've never put any overgrips or replacement grips on it...still have the original grip on it. So, I would have to take the original grip off, THEN put an over grip on?

  • no. you put the overgrip over your original grip. thus the name OVERgrip.

  • Comment removed

  • Thanks for this, very helpful

  • what do you mean rap it the other way wouldn't that make the grip the wrong way round

  • yeh i tried it and the only way i can do it is by putting my grip upside down so dunlop is d=unpside down and its way harder to put on

  • oh ok. thanks for you help man.

  • can someone please tell me what the heck the overgrip is for? like what's the point for an overgrip?

  • thanks good video

  • i hate the 90 square inch ncode omfg racquete is duff city!!!

  • this is rubbish! you must be retarded if you can't figure this out on your own!

  • TY!

  • Awesome video, thanks!

  • Hi, Great video I just have a quick question. I recently bought a new racket that has a white grip and after 2 weeks of use it has already gotten extremely dirty. I was planning on getting the same original replacement grip to put on the racket and then wrap a black overgrip around my new replacement grip...

But my question is will the new replacement grip look as good as the way it came when I bought the racket (neat, attached clean etc..)

  • what if the grip is fat, but the reason i want to put a new grip on is to make it tighter.

  • well i like to leave the flap on the top if it isnt too long it helps me on changing grips

  • Thank you very much. This was really helpful.

  • nice vid

  • This is great information. When I first started playing tennis at 8 I incorrectly put on an overgrip for about 3 years before someone showed me the correct way to do it. Thanks for the post.

  • Until you think it's too fat....

  • how many times can you do it before it becomes to fat?

  • hey, how do you stop the wrinkles that form near the butt of the racket or do i just have to deal with it?

  • Pull a little more taughtly.

  • lol, our coach got so fed up with us asking him for grips and asking us to put them on he gave us all a huge roll of tournagrips and a 12 pack of wilson pro overgrip with a link to this video, now every time we ask him it's a .7 =]. And i agree, great video

  • great demo. We use it for escrima/ kali sticks. in Martial Arts

  • I don't even bother taping it, I just put 2 rubber retainer at the end and it never fall off.

  • Veray nice :D

I hate white tape though, I prefer neon colors.

  • cheers for the video mate :) really helped

  • Excellent video, specially the tip for left handed people. A link to your video should be on the back of replacement grips packages.

    Thanks a lot.

  • whats the points of an overgrip why not just replace the normal grip each time

  • well an over grip adds comfort

and normal grip is expensive and not as "cushioned"

  • whats the best white grip i can get?

  • it depends

  • The BlackKnight T.U.F. Grip is impossible to put on a 4G

  • cheers for the vid. it'll help me when i get my first ever pack of 3 pro over grips. do you pull on it hard or not???

  • Thank you for your informative video. How would you do the overgrip for a grip that doesn't have any tapered end (like the 3 pack of white tourna grip I bought)? Do you cut one end to create the taper?

  • I do, yes. But I've seen it done well without that step too.

  • hey, how do you stop the wrinkles that form near the butt of the racket or do i just have to deal with it? thanks mate

  • nevermind, just needed to pull the tape tighter... perfect!..if i do say so myself

  • it sounds like at the beginning and end that you put alot of pressure on it,i hear the sound when you pull it

  • You have to do this in order to avoid bubbles. Bubbles are bad for your hand, at the bottom in particular.

  • When I stretch mine, it feels like I'm puttin too much pressure and I'm scared I might tear it(using Wilson Pro)

  • The problem with the sticky part at the top is you'd either have to start at the top,

or if you start at the bottom of the racquet with the rectangle end, you might not need to use the whole of the grip.

If so the sticky angled part of the grip at the top/end would be useless

  • actually, while that may work, overgrips are designed to be installed exactly as I describe in the video

  • this 4 1/2 or 4 3/8?

  • are all overgrips made for a 27' racquet because my tournagrips wont fit my 27.5 babolat racquet

  • why do u use the ncode 90 almost on ur vid

  • why do I use it on almost all of my videos? Because it was the only one that was mine for a long time.

  • Most overgrips do... Same goes for replacement grips. If you don't happen to have it, you can use electrical tape, same thing.

  • I have electrical tape as my grip and it doesn't work and it gets really sweaty and slippery. Help?

  • WOW!!!

    ARE U JOKING??!?!?!?!!?

u used electrical tape as a grip......

what they say u use electrical tape for is for the finishing and taping down the loose end of the overgrip.......

  • Can you take the replacement grip tapes off after you put it on? I don't think i wrapped mines that good.

  • As long as you do it right away. The longer you wait, the less likely it will come off cleanly.

  • Does the overgrip increase the size of handle ?

Is there difference beteween grip and overgrip, isn't it?

  • The overgrip will increase the size by about 1/16" And yes, there is a difference between overgrip and replacement grip.

  • good vid men ! thx a lot !

  • could u see if u could get the information for me to try dat spiral pattern please and thank you. dis vid is awesome tho helped me alot

  • YULitle can u tell me how to do dat spiral affect grip. or post a vid on it. i seen t and i wanna no how to do it. will be much appreciated thank you!

  • I've never tried it. I've only seen the finished product.

  • really useful vid man... for badminton players as well!

  • I really wasn't thinkin bout badminton grips. Good thinkin! I have some of those too.

  • ohh i used the same exact overgrip!! thanks to you my overgrip looks perfecto! anyways, was the overgrip sticky for you??? cause right now its kinda sticky for me
