I absolutely HATE how some people are stupid enough to use the standard cable that's standard definition which comes with the PS3 Slim and plug it into their HDTV and think it's HD simply because of their television. You need an HDMI CABLE! Jeez! It's pure torture to see the stretched SD video on the HD television!

that was major help man, but are there any more tips you can give to optimize the sound and visual quality? I have a 50" toshiba 2010 model and a ps3 fat, full surround sound system (reciever, speakers, etc)

@isiahg You're right they broke the fix and until another workaround comes about u may have to find "remux" releases where the bluray movie's audio has been replaced with dts or dd from the dvd release.

Very good video...! However, you mentioned something about having issues playing movies on the PS3 slim. I have a problem, just one itsy bitsy problem lOl. I have Avatar on Blu-Ray & when I first bought it, it played 100% normal no problems whatsoever. However, when I try and watch it now it goes to the notification saying that the Blu-Ray disc was manufactured to the latest specifications blah blah and won't go any further than that menu. It no longer plays. Only with Avatar i have this problem

@DABS139 Did you recently update your firmware? The first version of 3.56 for the slim was having issues. Try updating to the second version of 3.56 over the old one an see if that helps.

@shadowlaw7312 Yes, I updated it to the new version of 3.56 I believe yesterday if not the day before. I'll try and play the blu-ray Avatar again with this new update. Thank you...

@DABS139 Yeah those messages are from your firmware on your Bluray player being incompatible or outdated. Sony unfortunately has been releasing rushed and buggy firmware updates trying to hurry and counter the recent hacking of the PS3. Of course we end up paying the cost.
