  • True, what a day that will be! A question for you all - will you meet us all there? If not, then it is to simple to be there with us. Trust the Lord Jesus Christ as your Saviour - he died on Calvary's Cross and bore your sins. It is so easy, ask the Lord into your heart and and you can be with us on that glorious day :) Its my hearts desire that you meet us there!

  • one of the best songs

  • How could anyone not like this song? It was played at my best friend's grandfather's funeral this past Thursday, it reminds me of what a great man he was. R.I.P. We miss you!

  • This song was first done with the golden keys quartet with Jim Hill, Pat Duncan, Harold Patrick, and Clarence Claxon

  • HOW could 5 people not like this?

  • Sweet Lord Jesus? I'm ready when you are!

    Thank you Lord!

I'm looking forward to hugging your neck!

I want to much to wash your feet with my tears and drying them with my hair.!

Praise God, please come quickly before this world gets any meaner for our children?

  • Jim Hill, wrote this song 50 years ago in his home in Rosemount, Ohio.

  • had my grampy's funeral today and this song was sung as it was one my gramie sung whenever working in the kitchen, she passed away nearly 20 years ago so it was a very special song to my family, talk about water works, and then they played it as my brother, four of our cousins and myself were taking the casket to the hearse, thankfully my brother was in front of me he offered me his hand to hold onto. I love you grampy, gramie, grandpa and nanny. I cant wait to see you all again.

  • Great Jim !!

    RareElvisPresley com

  • Jim first sang this song with the Golden Keys Quartet.

  • Wow ! What an awesome performance.

  • Oh how I love this song! It is one of my top 5 favorites. Just imagine seeing Jesus!!

The base singers sound so good on this . Thank you so much for posting the Gaither DVD'S

  • @tngranny1 "What A Day That Will Be" Praise JESUS!!!

  • Jim Hill is a wonderful singer........I see him just about every Sunday......We go to the same Church...in Middletown Ohio...@ Towne Blvd. Church of God.......and it is a blessing to hear Jim sing this in person........God Bless You Brother Jim

  • I love these vintage Homecoming videos.

I met Jimmy Blackwood a few years ago when he and his group came to Bullhead City, AZ.

  • i just love this song so much, What a day that is going to be, what a day. Amen

  • I love these old Gaither Homecoming videos.

  • He (Donnie) is JD's 2nd cousin by geneology. Donnie's father and adoptive father (JD's brother) were 1st cousins. Does that help? In Southern lingo it means they are all blood kin. Donnie favors JD in a way.

  • absolutely wonderful!

  • Love JD's bass....awesome JD...God rest his soul.

  • Jim Hill looks like Chick Hearn.....

  • What a day that will be when my Jesus I shall see, And I look upon His face, The One who saved me by His grace; When He takes me by the hand And leads me through the Promised Land, What a day, glorious day that will be.

There'll be no sorrow there, no more burdens to bear,

    No more sickness, no pain, no more parting over there;

And forever I will be with the One who died for me,

What a day, glorious day that will be.

  • Bless you brother for writing down the words.

  • I wonder if Jim wrote any other great songs like this one....

  • I would like to hear Jim Hill more often.

  • What a day that will be

  • Wonderful! Some people just bring a smile to my face and Jim Hill is one of those people. You can see and feel the respect from the audience! He should be added to the Southern Gospel Hall of Fame!!!

  • Are these the original Stamps with JD?

  • The original Stamps are long gone. They formed in 1924, the same year JD Sumner was born. I doubt he had much influence on them as a newborn. :-) JD and James Blackwood together bought the Stamps Quartet in 1963. Two years later in 1965 JD left the Blackwood Brothers Quartet to sing with the Stamps.

  • a really great song sung by a great group

  • wow--think of those words..what a day that will be when my Saviour I shall see...Praise be the Lord forever, thank youJesus for your work of salvation in my heart and life 60 years ago!

  • This was my adopted grandmother's favorite song. It was sung at her funeral last fall. Does anyone know what video this is on?

  • Which one of the Gaither dvd's is this on? I would like to get it to play often. It is a very tho't provoking song and the group singing sends chills down my back.

  • In my hymnal it does give Jim credit for composing the song, but the copyright belongs to Ben Speer. Does anyone know why that might be?

  • dshelton47: Song copyrights expire after about 29 years but can be renewed indefinitely. Copyrights can be transferred to other people. Perhaps Ben Speer bought the copyright to this song from Jim.

    Just a thought.

  • Jim Hill wrote this song.

  • And very well, too!!!

  • It's a rare thing for Bill Gaither to reform old groups on his homecoming programs. This is one of them. One of the original line-ups of JD Sumner and the Stamps. Jim Hill, Donnie Sumner, Jimmie Blackwood, JD Sumner.

  • Was Jimmy Blackwood one of the original members of the Stamps? When did he leave and join the Blackwood Brothers? It is amazing how great these guys sound when this was recorded.

  • Axehack: Jimmy Blackwood was not one of the original Stamps. His father James Blackwood was only 5 years old when the Stamps Quartet was formed in 1924.

  • That was the Stamps-Baxter Quartet.

  • Do you know which of Bill Gaithers programs this can be found on? This song was my adopted grandmother's favorite hymn. I would like to get the dvd for her family.

  • What a blessing to hear Jim sing!

  • Excellent song. It's a shame there aren't more videos featuring Jim Hill. What a voice!

  • It is hard to improve on the best!

  • Jim Hill is my next door neighbor. He told me he was a gospel singer but I had no idea he was a gospel music legend! He is the nicest man and the best neighbor you could ask for! Great video - wow!!

  • That is incredible to have a living legend next door. The unparalled bridge of history of not only gospel music, but popular music with the Stamps connection with Elvis. If I were you I would have a barbeque every night and invite Jim over just to listen to the stories he must have

  • Please tell Jim that I, like so many others, have sang this song, and unlike so many other songs, you can see the effect of the song on the peoples faces. Every time this song is sung, it has a profound effect on someone.

  • This was just awsome to see. Fantastic!!! I also remember JD saying, "his brother adopted Donnie and JD adopted Donnie's sister so that both the sibblings would remain close". JD's brother couldn't adopted both of them together so JD adopted the girl. Donnie does look as if he could have been JD's son they looked so much alike with the nice thick hair. Wonderful video. Injoyed it very much.

  • In my hymnal "Hymns for the Family of God", Jim Hill is credited as the composer of this song, but Ben Speer holds the copyright. Does anyone have an explanation?

Also, check out Hoover4000's clip of Donnie Sumner's testamony. Awesome!!!

  • Composers often sell the rights to their songs. Or they might assign the rights for a period of time for a fee. Usually, whoever owns the rights can also receive royalties.

  • Ive only just discovered the gaither videos, simply cant get enough of them.Absolutely awesome.

  • Wonderful song and performance! Is this from a Gaither video? And, if so, which one?

  • it's from a gaither video, from the hall of honor series called "JD Sumner & The Stamps: God Still Lives In This Old House"

  • Oh, really...I knew he was J.D.'s nephew but I didn't know it was by adoption. He always had a "Sumner" look to me.

  • nice song does anyone how donnie is related to jd sumner? thanks!!!

  • he is his nephew through adoption

  • I talked to Donnie when he was in Fort Worth, Tx a few years ago and he told me J.D. was his uncle, but I did not know that it was by adoption.

  • yeah on the video that this clip is from he talked about how JD's brother adopted him.

  • @jerryl1000 DONNIE SUMNER: WAS BORN IN LAKE WOOD FLORIDA , BACK IN 1942. ... DONNIE SUMNER`S 2ND COUSIN JD SUMNER ADOPTED MY SISTER AND JD'S BROTHER ALSO MY 2ND COUSIN ADOPTED ME. ...

They are still realted by birth....it is not unusual for family to adopt family...

  • DONNIE IS J.D'S NEPHEW.......

  • thats what i just said

  • J.D. has brought a lot of changes to Gospel Music. Truly one of the greats.

  • awesome!

  • what a way to start your day!!!!!!!!!!!! god bless , love your mucis and voices!!!!!!
