It is so sad that this is happening in our beloved country. I totally agree with you that the basic duty of any government is to protect its citizens. Unfortunately our president is not in touch with the reality of the people he is supposed to be serving and protecting. Raila is also busy fighting for power, carpets and "choos". What a pity. I am deeply saddened by this massacre and pray for those who are mourning the loss of their loved ones. But how long can we put up with this???

Honestly, this is unbelievable. Is Kenya a lawless state? What is the difference between Kenya and Somali if a village can suffer such mayhem with no intervention from security forces? "To expell all residents from Kirinyaga from Karatina" is the stated goal of Mungiki in this area. If this distinction is this important , then there are serious problems with our view of Kenya as a modern State. Nothing in the report says the victims were squatters or residents of some land scheme. Hence, there does not seem to be any reason for this killing.
Mungiki appears to be quite reviled since some members in that area appeared to have been killed by 'mob justice'
