  • The Shirelles the best!!

  • Blimey! It's Burt on the Jo-anna!

  • Beatles version is the best

  • The best version is done by : Shakin´ Stevens!!

  • I like the version of The Beatles tho. But nice one Adele.

  • think the Smiths did the best version

  • The Beatles originally wrote this song(John Lennon) and they will always have the best version

  • @joewalshinjamesgang .....no, Burt Bacharach and Hal David wrote it...Shirelles recorded it in '61, and the Beatles in '63

  • Adele sings this the best, then the Beatles then the Shirelles and THEN Smith...

  • Hey drummer(needs it in the)assbad1. I think that you've been playing tummy sticks with your uncle for too long.

  • Yah!

  • Nice but Smith was better!

  • @fyte4luv808 You are such an ass....Are you perfect. Do you have a log in your eye?

  • @fyte4luv808 haha she can at least lose weight however you will forever be a lowlife idiot who can only make lame jokes about successful women who just so happen to like to eat!

    go fuck yourself, thanks. ;)

  • i love the music industry trying to show it still has some class by promoting her after years and years of gaga and rhianna

  • she is so good and professional, sensible ,musicaly inteligent...Im in love

  • Nice but this is Music Beatles xP

  • no bad but the beatles is the beatles nobody play like the beatles, please dont more beatles covers

  • @sonidostarmusic This ensures immortality for music that deserves it.It is an homage.Adele is historically good

  • Shes to heavy? Look at her newer songs...she has lost alot of weight and that doesnt matter anyway. DONT BE A HATER

  • she's to heavy

  • as time goes by i miss John Lennon more and more

  • yeah, but the Chorus on Cheat, Cheat is weak -

  • Καλο

  • HERMOSAAAAAAAA :D

  • this lady has made a 67yr old great-grandmother a fan

  • The Shirelles version is the best, BUT, this does not take away from Adele's vocal prowess. What marginalizes this version is the musical accompaniment. You get Adele in the studio with the original instrumental to this song and you got a bonafied hit...Record companies are you listening? Put Adele's vocals to the original tracks!!!

  • Ok, I am a huge fan of The Shirelles, and I'll say, it's different, but Adele did an ok job on this classic.

  • she´s not being "flat" ...like some say, she´s actually having a conversation and that´s her vibe...this woman is awesome... not unique, but rare...definitely...a Brit Baby all the way

  • She is awsome just love her!!

  • i liked that she has a nice voice..!

  • @frepler Just thinking that. Wanting to go crank the Smith version after. But it's sweet. Just hoped she'd knock it out of the ball park and it was just a base hit.

  • Adele is a babe

  • Realmente su voz es encantadora !

    Ella es muy bonita !

  • Like the suits! She is very good too!

  • Adele smoothed the song out and gave it power when it was called for. Her version I think is better..., and doing it live no less...!!

  • me gusta mucho! haha

  • gordinha gostosa

  • i like more with the Beatles

  • The original was done by the Shirelles in the early 1960's

  • FUCK! She is GOOD! Isn't she? She is absolutely 100% AWESOME!

  • beautiful beautiful Adele please do an album of 50's & 60's stuff...x

  • A band called Smith, did a great version of this song back in 1969.......

  • @wincanton2 Smith did it 100x better!

  • @wincanton2 Yeah, but Gayle McMormick was a helluvalot foxier.

  • @wincanton2 : Well it is actually by The Shirelles, 1961. Then by The Beatles 1963, then Smith 1969.

Personally The Beatles and The Shirelles did it best.

  • Comment removed

  • @wincanton2 mmmm Death Proof...;)

  • @wincanton2 ...THAT'S FOR SURE; IT WAS Gayle MacCormack singing lead vocalist, she had plenty of talent & lots of Blue-Eyed Soul. Adele is bringing back some good songs to a new generation.

  • I LOVE that Burt Bacharacht looks SO HAPPY with Adele singing his song! She is AMAZING! I like her singing this even better than the Shirelles! And that is almost blasphemy! :o)

  • LOVE HER VOICE. AND IS GREAT SHE IS SINGING AN OLDIE FROM THE BEATTLES

  • She can sing anything and make it happen.Great voice.

  • @TheLonniemac1 Adele has such a unique and versatile voice. She is absolutely amazing.

  • I am guilty of thinking all the good music is in the past, and saying they don't make em like that anymore.....well they made one.She is great

  • Ok. I officially love Adele.

  • Is it just me, or the whole orchestra had a fit of laughter??

  • yummy! ty for posting

  • my favorite female singer nice cover

  • Wow, what a great version.

  • I am the nose job police and I can see Adele has had one - broader nose here than now and noses don't get smaller without help. Lovely voice, not unlike Dusty's.

  • Adele and Norah Jones are the best female voices of recent years

  • @INNOCENTAWORLD And what about Amy???!!!

  • Really I did not that she was do young, I always thought. She was on her early thirties!

  • She didn't say she better than The Beatles

  • beatles are better.....

  • In one word, EXCELLENT.

  • nice version

  • Glad she won a lot of Grammy's, she's the closest thing to talent we have.

  • The Beatles version, from 64 (!) is much better with the voice of John Lennon.

  • @JotheBytle I agree. I love Adele, but Lennon's version is better.

  • me quedo con la versión de los beatles , ojo no es mala cantando pero no me gusta

  • almost as good as the beatles version

  • she's 22 here...my god...she's brilliant

  • Well, somebody's in trouble.

  • i'm just glad some artists try to keep the older style music alive

  • Gayle McCormick's version with Smith is still tops. But Adele is awesome too...and very rich:) lol

  • its not "how many' its "many' just sayin ok

  • gordinha ageitada canta muito, maravilha, seja benvinda. A porcentagem de que não gostam

    dela é muito pequena,sucesso puro.

  • hey... im beggining to like this lady :D

  • Nunk nadie en toda su puta vida superara a los beatles.!!! podran hacer 35u8394572386450234582304582378745823597234057234752347508234572345723457238974502374852345723475923458234856214651726345634 performances de la misma cancion pero la de los beatles simepre sera la mejorr

  • i think it's because we've become so used to talentless singers like madonna, britney spears, katy perry, etc., that adele sounds so great.

  • @No1KCfan6 I think that’s a bit unfair. Clearly they weren't too bad or wouldn't have sold the CDs and shows out like they did. They just were a different jondra. It's like comparing a quite lake to a quickly moving river. Both are nice, but different. Adele's songs are slower, more romantic with the strings and drums, or simple piano, and we have all been were she is talking about. Previously mentioned performers go for sexy, and Adele sings of raw "romance"... When it's good or bad.

  • She has the talent and voice, Mr. Bacharach is in his glory, what can anyone say. Excellent, such a wonderful song/entertainer. Who gives a damn if she smokes, weighing more than she could. Go ADELE go........

  • Adele she's the true babe.

  • Uh, oh, many, many, many nights go by,

I sit alone at home and i cry over you.

    What can i do.

Can't help myself, 'cause baby, it's you.

    Baby, it's you.

  • yeah , a good version.. I like Jeff Phillips"s version too - everyone who has done a version of this song, has put their own personality into it... twowaysteet101 said it .. and I agree! thank you for yr version+ :-) great!!

  • cool : )

  • She Sings beautifuly! I dont care who singss this, but I have to say, I prefer The Beatles because, and only for the reason that they sung this. Hold on! Before I get any bashers, I love Adele, and I have nothing against her. LONG LIVE ADELE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I could care less who sang song long ago, she is awesome and that it's period !!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Well since all you guys are comparing, the reigning version for me will always be the original, by The Shirelles. There. Settled it for ya.

  • i really dislike her latest hit,why did'nt she stick to doing this stuff?(much better)

  • @sergerungomo see my vids & learn herbs like pine,coriander,cayenne,dandleion,dock,pine etC :D

  • sha lala laaaa

  • I got excited when I saw that she covered this song holy shit

  • i love this song ! this is the only song i like that she sings.thx

  • LOVE IT

  • not bickering, just saying the beatles with john lennon on lead vocals rocks!!!

  • Comment removed

  • LOVE... LOVe.. seeing Burt at Piano too.

  • obviously burt knows talent..it comes in all shapes and sizes..

  • I like the Beatles version too,

  • A mi me gustaaaa !!!!

  • Ot doesent matter abot how she looks now or how she looked then i think shes very pritty everybody is beautyfull in there own way <3 :)

  • adele cover is better

  • Baby it's youuuuuuu and no one else

  • go tubby go

  • De qué año es este video??

  • I PREFER HALEYS REINHART VERSION check out!

  • What is the point of all the bickering over which version of this song is better? Each artist I've seen mentioned in the comments brought their own unique style to this classic song. Adele does the same as those who went before her - excellent cover. Also, judging by the look on his face, the composer of the song (Burt Bacharach, on piano), looks quite pleased with her performance. It seems to me, there should be room enough for everyone.

  • @twowaystreet101 ...so true!!! :-)

  • @twowaystreet101 And isn't that the hallmark of a great song, that it can be sung in many different ways by different voices and sound great in all of them?

  • @twowaystreet101 I agree with you. Everyone brings their own stamp of unique sound and interpretation to the song... This rendition is definitely way better than Smith did it in '69... Adele singing with Burt is a really nice rendition and I'm betting it's close to what Burt wanted it to sound like originally so my thumbs are definitely up for Adele.

  • @twowaystreet101

Thank you for saying it, there are songs that can be covered by different artists, in different ways that pleases. I enjoy the heck out of youtube finding all the many covers by artists, through the years. What a treasure to have at our fingertips.

  • @twowaystreet101 Amen!

  • @twowaystreet101 You're right, Burt is obviously over the moon with her rendition :)

  • The ONLY version besides the Shirelles' that is really stunning!

  • I understand that the Beatles and Shirelles versions are classics, Adele does their versions a certain kind of justice but say what you will none of them match the intensity and passionate soul of the Smith version.

  • I love the Shirelles and the Beatles...

    But that was righteous. Awesome.

  • I get very tired of people dumping on someone because their version is not as good as the 'original"! Dah. The reason they sing the old song is because the original is so good and it becomes a thing to aspire to. Adele does a wonderful job on the song. She evokes that sad, lonely feeling of lost love and despair. That's one of the reasons the original was so good. Adele deserves great credit for coming so near the mark. Rarely is a cover better than the original, but Adele came close.

  • Sorry, no one does it better than the Shirelles!!

  • The original 1961 recording of Baby It's You by the Shirelles with Shirley Owen's singing lead is superior to Adele's version. a latter version of this song by the Shirelles with a different lead singer, Alston Reeves, was not as good as the Shirelles original 1961 hit. Listen to the ORIGINAL Shirelles 1961 hit with lead singer Owens and then compare with Adele's version. the original Shirelles did this song best!

  • A piano solo by Burt Bacharach there would have been better than the saxophone.

  • its all about the talent the voice not her size !!!!!!!!!! this stands up easily against beatles and shirelles...........best talent britain has had for nearly 50 years

  • @bedfordcf What? Are you saying better than Dusty Springfield and Kathy Kirby? I don't think she's as good as them.

  • This version is coll. The Shirelles' were cool. But no one can touch the Beatles, like ever.

  • @cslennon17 she just has with her version

  • Adele is magnificent. Baby It's You by her is just as good as the Shirelles. Smith also did a great version. The Beattles version stunk along with most of there other cover songs. There own material was mostly excellent whereas the Stones did great cover versions especially on Blues/R&B versions.

  • @mangleedinal Try the beatles.

  • cant stop listening to this song by Adele! I've heard it in the past I think is the Shirelles that sing it but Adele'sn rendition is a lot more deep! love it!

  • first of all the woman has such a gift that she's exceeded like no other in many decades. Secondly..she HAS lost weight but even heavy I'd lay dime to dollars she'll always have more money than you. Look up some physiological attributes that explain weight in the chest area presses the diaphram and the fact that she also smokes gives her that proverbial "sound" that weighing 99lbs wont. Give credit where it's due.

  • @JoJoHuskyLover Forget the money, you will never sing near as well, none have as many people love you. Only an ignorant fool wouldn't love Adele.

  • Rock it Adele!!!

  • smith is so much better, this sucks.

    todays musicians are neither.

  • Fun fact: Adele is HOT and you haters can suck eggs.

  • @MrDarksider4000 If you think 300 lbs. is hot!!

  • Nope, just listened to Smith and this lady has them beat to hell and back. So much more soul here. BTW Smith did not do the original version. This song was written by Burt Bacharach (music), and Luther Dixon (credited as Barney Williams) and Mack David (lyrics). It was recorded by The Shirelles and The Beatles, and became hits for both. However, the highest-charting version of "Baby It's You" was by the band Smith, who took the song to number five on the US charts in 1969.

  • @mangledinal If you think Adele has more soul than Gayle McCormack (Smith) then you have no clue what soul is! Search this version and watch all the way to the end, and you will see what soul is. Smith - Baby It's You [Excellent quality] (Live, 1969)

  • Fun Fact: Adele eats more than the average american citizen

  • @uni4life1619 Fun Fact: Idiots like you kill themselves everyday due to realization that they aren't the brightest crayon in the box.

  • @AmazingPengu actually im a mechatronics engineering student, quite smart in fact, which entitles me to belittle your inferior brain. However, i wont stoop to your level, tah tah now

  • she does better than the BEATLES=)

  • @maleehautip not really actually ~ cannot beat seriously

  • oh she got what it takes and most of all she have great voice!

  • This girl is so good,no matter what song she sings such a beautiful voice

  • beautiful

  • Adele is comparable to Ella Fitzgerald in the "Pop" field.. WOW, what a fucking super talent!!!!

  • OMG.. you can fall in love with her instantly...! She is so good...!

  • this song will always be so special to me for the most unbelievable reason, and that's the original version by Smith (not The Smiths) if you've never heard it your in for a treat

  • groan, she should've left the arrangement alone, in my opinion

  • HOW OLD IS BURT AGAIN 89

  • @EspioArtwork ... and his song is 50 :)

  • @EspioArtwork Yeah, uh, Burt Bacharach was born in May 1928 so he's not quite 84 and definitely not 89! Though, God willing he will live to 89. Hard to believe he's 84; I always thought he was part of my generation, but actually he's part of my mother's generation. How'd we get so old?

  • Excellent! She did a wonderful job. She's beautiful too.

  • I can see another legendary artist in her.. =)

  • Burt's smiling like he's so proud of her. Adele can sing any song like the alphabets and I could listen to her all day.

  • GREAT FUCKING SONG!! <.< they just dont make good music like this anymore adele is truly an epitome of great singing

  • Adele did this good, however i still like The Beatles singing this song more

  • great cover. Burt Bacharach is also one the the greatest song writers of all time.

  • Very good, great voice, but I like The Beatles version better.

  • brill, adele just simply captivates you!,the girl done good.

  • Her music is so real, down to earth and relevant to our daily lives that I can understand how she won so many music award. Welcome back, real music, we had missed you!

  • I didn't think anyone could do it better than the Shirelles, but Adele does. Bravo!
