  • I always thought it was "turn a stor back to Erin's shore" instead of "Ireland's shore," but this makes more sense.

  • Very nice.... I always carry a handycam with me just in case I come across this sort of thing in my local bookshop.

  • preety lady

  • pero que hermosa mujer, sus ojos, sus cejas, su voz que maravilla

  • She is one of the most beautiful women and singers that i have ever seen and heard,if you get the chance go to a concert..GO..its just breath taking!

  • Jaysus, that'd bring a tear to your leg..

  • I first heard this song on the Chieftains' Tears of Stone, sung by Bonnie Raitt.

I also like your version too and I find it pretty inspiring - tears welled up a little in my eyes.

  • A beautiful arrangement. A high quality song will lend itself to many different styles and interpretations!

  • gorgeous voice!

  • beautiful voice beautiful song...BRAVO!!!

  • A Stor mo Chroi isn't actually an old song, nor is this version that much different from one of the definitive ones as sung by the Keane sisters. The "tradition" is living, and all perspectives should be welcome. Traditional music snobbery is a bit of a bore really, and most traditional musicians don't suffer from it.

  • Come on Rosfrog - it wasn't awful! The singer has a nice voice and, fair enough the melody is over simplified and sung in a classical style, but the harmony was pretty and she never said she was singing an authentic version. It's her interpretation and she has a right to sing it how she wants. Had she said 'sean nos' or 'authentic Irish song' in the title, that would have been different, but she didn't! Not bad as far as an easy version goes, I thought, and very nice harmony work.

  • Nice work Miriam! (and the anunaites).

I love laughing at the "experts" self-important deliberations. All they're pontificating is worth just a "thumbs down".

  • "A talented traditional singer would heavily ornament the melody"...? Would they? Wow! Which tradition is this you're talking about? The tradition of talking out of your rear end?

  • No. The Irish tradition. It's just as codified as classical music and has rules too. I don't see why they're any less worth respecting than the classical rules.

  • Anything as blinkered at what you are saying isn't worthy of respect. The tradition is aural and can be interpreted in many ways. She's Irish and she sings it the way that she is trained to. If there are rules in the Irish Tradition then they're made by people who won't allow any other discipline sully the rarified air that they breathe. This is a fine version and she's a great singer.

  • @stengweed Here Here!

  • @rosfrog Here , Here!!

  • A stóir mo chroi, in the stranger's land

There is plenty of wealth and wailing ......

  • I think its a misprint. It should be the strangler's land. Makes lots of sense then.

  • The girl seems to be singing "stranger's land" and I have never seen it written as anything else but you might be right.

  • 'Stranger's land ' it is....

  • And a very pretty lady too!

  • And an unbelievably amazing voice to go with it.

  • very pretty song
