  • Ironically they used an Apple display to demo Flash 10, Flash on the mac sucks balls

  • flash is on like every computer yet macromedia couldn't stay afloat. what the hell went wrong?

  • what camera were you using?

  • no applause for that?!?!

  • can anyone give me instructions on how to download the flash player 10 for windows vista.... i went on the website and i did download it but it keeps saying i don't have it

  • can you please help with adobe flash player

  • ok I have a problem.........

youtube wants me to download the latest flash player to watch videos. so I went to the adobe website and downloaded and went back to youtube and it stell wouldn't work. So I went to a different website and downloaded it and went back to youtube and it stell wants me to download the latest version of adobe flash player!

    can u help?

  • Adobe Flash Player is something lazy and stupid companies can't seen to make into 64-bit applications, despite the fact that every computer and operating system made since 2008 is 64-bit. Use 64-bit compatablity to detect morons and losers.

  • I don't understand what flash is. Isn't it just a player that allows you to watch youtube videos?

  • It's more than just a player, it's a platform. Yes, Youtube does use it and so do many ads. But you have to have some sort of software to create Flash stuff. That's the software Adobe makes. Adobe Flash is the software that developers use to create content that can be played by the Flash Player.

  • Its too slow. jumps audio and sometimes video too. Not satisfied with it

  • that is phat....Im going to smash this version...I cant wait til its live.

  • Cool. I like this new update. :)

  • Honestly, it doesn't amaze me that much. The only thing that caught my attention was at 3:40. :P

  • adobe - bunch of incompetent programmers who can't even write a flash player capable of playing full screen video on average hardware in linux... if they only realized how important this whole linux thing was going to be to their business model in the upcoming years and put more engineering cycle toward making flash work seamlessly with linux....

  • No one gives a shit about Linux.

  • the word "SO" was the most interesting ....

she said it like a hundred times.

  • Borrrrrring..........

  • my cpu cant handle..

  • This is going to be amazing to use

  • hmm i think there is sumthing wrong with my new computer it wont let me veiw vids it says its no longer avalible

  • You just need to refresh the page. :)

  • does that mean google can scan flash websites and index it properly?

  • if u read between the lines, it supports only 3D effects, up to now no real usable 3D engine presented, no hw texturing, no shaders, someone can finaly ask, guys is this thing 3D or not ?

  • that's what we call progress

  • I can't wait to start useing this on my multi touch table.

You can see it here: niceminds . com

  • Loving the new features. But I hope that code name stays a code name cause it sounds really cheesy..lol

  • Wait a sec is papervision 3d involved with the 3d components? BAD ASS yeaH FLASH!

  • When will Astro be available in beta or final release?

  • Astro is already available at Adobe's webpage...

  • ...as beta.

  • Justin!!!!

  • ok, this time GPL the code!

just kidding... i know that they have put mush time in to flash, but they should put out the FULL specs on the Flash format, and OpenGL support is a must! and fix the Compiz bug where you can "not" do full screen...

  • wow... xD

  • DIOS!! lo llevamos claro , que tecnologia coño

  • I would love Flash 10 as well as Flash 9.

    Get away Silverlight!

  • yay! transform movieclips and 3d-ishness that is easy to accomplish. It used to take me ages to do that kind of stuff.

  • Is hardware support for DirectX and OpenGL too much to ask?

  • Yeah that would be the most awesome thing ever, bundled with full 3D importing and shader support.

  • Yes it is, including DirectX and OpenGL would raise the Plugin Size fomr 1.9 MB to about 110 MB.

  • It sounds like it will indeed support the embeded Arabic fonts along with many other bi-directional languages. This will surely make many people who have struggled with this in the past with IE happy to hear.

  • This is definitly not for sure.

Embeding Arabic is not simple like other (eg. Latin)languages, since one character can have up to 4 different glyphs depending on its position in the word, which is not the case for other non-connected characters' languages.

  • How is Flash 10 Arabic Text support compared to Internet Explorer (with HTML) renderer engine?

Will it support embeded Arabic fonts?

    Thank you.

  • The text support looks like it will be a tremendous improvement. And a much needed one at that. As for the filters, you'll have to get creative yaroukh.

  • well, I (and you don't have to agree with me) don't see any serious use for these filters - for me it's more like effect for the sake of effect

more important (and quite screaming) for me is the lack of possibility to set a color of the movie outline using AS (without workarounds like glow-filter)

  • hahah, what a thread. In my opinion Flash platform is the future(just forget M$ Silverlight even though it's on the right path to become an good alternative to Flash, but... it's still Microsoft).

  • Wow, man, thanks for blessing us with The Truth. We're not worthy! :)

  • It isn't "real mvc" unless it has a holographic genuine advantage sticker on it.

  • ROTFL! :)

  • Right to the point Keith... I laughed my ass of at that one. ;)

    @Aral:

Danke für's filmen und hochladen. ;)

    cheers

  • Great, more useless disk and memory hogging junk as if Vista wasn't enough; maybe they should call it "Astro-glide" as it looks as if Joe User is going to get screwed from this bloatware. If I want brain-numbing video I'll go turn on Nickolodean and gargle NyQuil.

Text is better left with standards-compliant technologies such as AJAX, CSS, & HTML.

At least it isn't Silverlight. But if Adobe isn't careful, its going to fall rapidly into the same degenerate pit MS finds itself in.

  • Adobe (and Macromedia before that) is very careful about not adding bloat to the Flash Player. Why would "Joe User" get screwed by the addition of RTL support for languages such as Hebrew and Persian?

Your comment that "text is better left with...AJAX, CSS, & HTML" is uninformed at best. Text handling is an integral part of Flash and Flex applications.

  • very good ..

    welcome in arabic language ..

    thanx adobe

  • i think they have to come with something better than that swinging monkey

till now i can't see MVC which means in english for non software engineers, not a chance

  • Your comment on "i can't see MVC" makes me wonder if you understand what the Flash player is. It is a virtual machine that runs SWF bytecode. The reason you don't see MVC is because MVC is a design pattern that is used when building applications that separates your business logic from your presentation logic. You can implement MVC in your own Flash/Flex applications or use an MVC framework such as Arp (which I've authored) or Cairngorm.

  • Yeah, you mentioned it. Guess what, so am I. And since you are wrong on this matter, as an engineer, the right thing to do would be to listen and learn the facts when someone who does know explains them to you.

You can easily create loosely-coupled, event-driven applications that implement the MVC design pattern in Flash and Flex.

Please stop throwing about ridiculous and patently false claims like 'Flash ... lacks "real" MVC'. They just work to demonstrate your ignorance on the matter.

  • Dear software engineer, Flash isn't MVC. Silverlight isn't MVC. You can implement the _MVC pattern_ in both Flash and Silverlight.

Please, get a clue. Google "MVC" and "ActionScript" and do some reading. Learn about ActionScript frameworks such as Pure MVC, Cairngorm, Arp, etc.

But, most importantly, as a "software engineer", please understand that MVC (Model-View-Controller) is a _design pattern_ and it can be implemented on many different platforms.

  • You are regurgitating knowledge from the last century as current. Flash started out as an animation tool over _ten_ years ago. Since then it has morphed into a _platform_.

Have you seen Flex? Take a look if you'd like some understanding of what the Flash platform is like in the 21st century before you continue disseminating unfounded falsehoods about it.

This will be my last reply to you as it is clear that you are uninterested in facts and prefer to stick to your beliefs on the matter.

  • yes, that's why Microsoft uses flash (not silverlight) on their websites, right? :D

  • i want to ask you a question, how much do you think flash could support mvc design pattern?

  • I want to ask you 3 questions:

    1) Do you know Flash has a programming language (that is a superset of the ECMAScript standard)?

    2) Are you aware of the fact that MVC can be implemented in pretty much any programming language and is not specific to any platform/system/language?

    3) Have you looked into the Flex framework or other frameworks used by Flash developers that implements MVC?

  • Wow fady911x, do you use this name when you apply for jobs? I'd like to know so I never hire you! Also, what school did you go to so I can never hire anyone from there too. Holy dumb ass.

  • it's really really cool!!!

  • Kiss the ass of Microsoft Silverware, goodbye. They should've thought twice before getting into the battle.

  • hoho!

  • Very nice I have to say.:D

I think that Adobe is doing a great job.

  • Don't be stupid!!!

  • ha! gonna start building an online-version of aftereffects then...

  • awesome! i'm impressed

  • Frankly the only thing that really interested me was native 3d api in flash. PaperVision3D was good and all, but if PaperVision3D uses this API, it will gain native performance benefits that it won't be close to getting now.

Can't wait. Silverlight, eat your heart out!

  • awesome :D

  • o.....m.....g.

  • Hoooray!
