I have the MEX-BT3900U and one thing that is VERY ANNOYING however, is the white button next to the volume dial is INSANELY BRIGHT AT NIGHT! Other drivers can actually see my illuminated face when I'm driving at night. There is NO way to dim this! Other than maybe taking black nail polish and painting over it. I actually talked to Sony and have confirmed there is no way to dim that stupid thing....
I ask you now , why not all radio car head unit have Bluetooth Stereo inside ? Bluetooth Stereo A2DP include by default streaming music and voice conversation over phone , so don't buy the head unit if it not Bluetooth with A2DP capability if not you not have posibility to stream music from your phone wireless to your head unit . All Biggest sound specialist like Alpine , kenwood , suck 2 years before adopt new technology like it do it Mp3 and now Bluetooth Stereo
I'm fan of great quality head car unit , for me 1st place are Alpine , 2st place Kenwood , so i no find any Alpine to have Bluetooth inside i find Kenwood with Bluetooth , i buy it i install but it suck ! it have only mono Bluetooth only for conversation over phone , no permit to stream music wireless over cell phone ..So i desinstall shit radio and return to store Best-Buy , and i buy this one Sony MexBT2900 , WOW at 1/2 the price of Kenwood or 1/4 the price of Alpine , Sony stream music +cell
As asked before, how do you get the song info to be displayed whilst using the blutooth feature? I have a Nokia 5230 which supports all blutooth profiles you mentioned, but I don't get any text displayed from the metadata.
I just don't get one thing. Why not all car radios have bluetooth? It should be as standard as volume knob. My friend had bluetooth almost 10 years ago in his radio and still after all this years is still a gimmick that you have to pay much extra like it's something new. Bullshit!
HAHA!!! Thats cool, I put this exact deck in my girlfriend's truck. Its a pretty nice head unit. Sounds really good, but the bluetooth doesn't work that great with my Samsung phone. Works great with my girl's Sony Ericsson cell phone....go figure!!
@damon323 is your samsung phone able to connect handsfree and output the other caller through the car speakers? I'm having problem getting mines to work. It connects but no sound?
@damon323 works great with my samsung phone. I can go as far as 20 ft outside the vehicle and it works great. I have bluetooth 3.0 on my captivate also but I doubt that has anything to do with it.
where would you connect rca cables on my sony headunit? on the back there are 3 option.. FRONT - REAR - and BUS?? please get back to me asap

@joeyjoeeeee Those RCA outputs in the back are pre-amps, they are use for car amplifiers.

You can use the head unit to answer/receive calls without a problem.

great review. I'm looking to move to BT to get rid of the wire going to my iPhone.
My only question is can you use the head unit to answer the phone or do you still have to use the answer button on the phone?
