lol, I remember listening to this song back in high-school, it's an odd song, but's pretty cool. It's kinda funny, the don't really go into any detail at all. XD
I've just noticed your video responses in my e-mail, but they aren't turning up in YouTube for some reason, or I would "post". There's probably some box in the guts of my channel that I'll have to look for to click or unclick. Other video responses (wanted or unwanted !) haven't turned up either.

@theWWIIfanatic I understand. When you have to listen to music in scholl it automatically makes it uncool. But at least you didn't have to listen to Bob Seagars Old Time Rock n Roll in PE.
Your teachers would turn in their graves of course there are pyramids in Mesopotamia called Ziggurats
A ziggurat "to build on a raised area" is a temple tower of the ancient Mesopotamian valley and Iran, having the form of a terraced pyramid of successively receding stories.
@arerooo The song is actually loosely accurate. Mesopotamia was actually more of region considered to be the "cradle of civilization" with the Assyrians being only one of many cultures that existed there. Another being Babylon where was written the "Code of Hammurabi" which is the oldest (surviving) codex's of law known to history. In Mesopotamia they, in fact, laid down the law.
i love this! ugh though im so tired of people who are like im 17 and i listen to this...blah blah blah. half of the ppl saying that are prolly just pedos anyway. Ugh!
I love this song been loving it since a child, not sure what or how to head bang but I blast this when I catch it on the radio or at home cleaning. love it bring back memories
"This neat excavation is tricky business, what with all of the old laws here in these ruins. Better turn my watch back." *shit i didn't read that book*
So funky, love this band. One of the best bands of all time. Wish we had more music like this now and days. Everyone I know that's seen them in concert said they're great live too
@PumaDown@yutehoobfan2011 YES I just want to cosign about MOJO. He was such an innovator! He played everything! Back then it was just good music! It was not Black, White, Urban or whatever we all jammed to the same thing. He is definitely one of the reasons I have such eclectic taste in music today!
@Peeseful1 Exactly...he palyed everything from Prince to The Busboys to Ozone and we didn't see color...we just heard good music...which is what radio is lacking today
Mojo introduced me to the B-52's, Parliment Funkadelic, Prince and many others I had never heard before. He opened my eyes to music that was far outside the mainstream at the time, I miss Mojo and the mothership.

I had no idea history teachers were using this to teach ancient history! How cool! I remember when this song was new and on the radio. I wasn't sure what "they laid down the law" was referring to at the time, and then a few years later I learned that it's a reference to the Code of Hammurabi, the first known written laws of a civilization. Cool to have a song written about it.
I actually used to mix this with Jeopardy back in the day. It sounds like it would be a great match, but the way the mixes are constructed it was less than ideal. Now I should just do it digitally so I can make it really work.
Early 52s is a required taste, we're talking pre Love Shack. THe reason why they are sounding like Talking HEads, David Burne produced their album MESOPOTAMIA. The 52s pre Love Shack days was their best years becxause they werent tryignt o make music tht would sell, they made classic new wave/post punk music
I hope your teacher was at least somewhat cool otherwise (for me) it would have left a lasting impression that would have taken away from my enjoyment of this tune,to the point I might seek legal representation. j/k
@Connorr134 lol same here i go to goshen high school and my world history teacher played this song and was singin along to it her last name is diedrich
