I always wanted to know whyyyy is he always after her, does he have a grudge against her? or is he jealous of her? and her running is sooooo hilarious XD!!!!
@chrisnapierutube Born in '70 - watched this, Godzilla, Battle of the Planets, Rainbow, DangerMouse, Spiderman, etc. etc. etc. What do kids have nowadays after school/Saturday mornings? Cookery programmes, Home and Away, Midsomer Murders! No childhood TV joys for them. We were the lucky ones.
How does the Hooded Claw expect to kill Penelope in the same universe where the Ant Hill Mob can be ran over by a train 1 hundred times and still be alive and kicking by the end of the episode?
Jesus, every time I've saw his ridiculous plans to kill Penelope,I was having the wild wish to get in the show and either stab that prick in the head a thousand times, either shoot Penelope and show him how easy you can dispatch a person.
Does anybody remember when Paul Lynde was a Special Guest on Wonderama?
It wasn't just Paul Lynde who made The Hollywood Squares. Have we all forgotten "Underdog" Wally Cox, and Charlie Weaver back in the first days of the Game Show with Peter Marshall?
She was also the voice of Judy Jetson in the Jetsons serie and Josie McCoy in Josie and the Pussycats.
In fact, DreamWorks Animation announced that Janet Waldo voiced the female elderly Otter named Reetenia in the live-action/animated version of Tom and Jerry
I never recalled a more annyoing cartoon villain then the Hooded Claw:first of all,all his plans are complete idiotic,he always tries to kill Penelope with the most retarded traps(hey, idiot, there is something called GUN,or KNIFES,you know). And second, his laugh just makes me want to get into the cartoon and snap his fucking neck off.
@TheMetalFiddler If I was making that joke I would have made him the total opposite of what the name 'hooded claw' suggests (like, a giant pink fuzzy bear).
I never understood as a kid why Penelope would run away from the Claw. She looks like she could probably kick his scrawny ass. I mean, he's voiced by Paul freaking Lynde.
Comedy actor Paul Lynde, best known for his appearances on "The Hollywood Squares" (1965) was uncredited as the voice of Sylvester Sneekly/The Hooded Claw
If you take the basic plot line, it is quite an adult theme - a guardian (a crooked attorney I believe it is later shown) who is after Penelope's fortune, and all she can rely on is the mob for protection.. and all for children :-)
Good show though shame the other Wacky Racers aren't in this (aside from the Ant Hill Mob), Dick Dastardly, Peter Perfect, the Slag Brothers and the Gruesome Twosome especially
@Murdock129 Dick Dastardly and Muttley were going to be in it but they dropped the idea which led to 'Dick Dastardly and Muttley in their Flying Machines'. It is a shame that the other Wacky Racers did not get to make an appearance in the spin-offs

@ahrensgay Well to be fair, he WAS the villain, and is clearly presented as such. I grew up watching this, and I certainly knew right from wrong when I did.
I cannot believe that I just found this on YouTube. My God. I must have been seven years old watching this in my Great Grandmother's living room with a glass of milk, a few corn pancakes, and home made syrup a long, long time ago. This and "Land of the Lost" and "Shazam" etc on Saturday mornings. I'm sure kids today don't know that we once only got 12 television channels, and cartoons came on once a week.
Man the creators must have been like what's the most pathetic annoying female lead we can possible come up with and came up with her. i remember being like 7 and wanted to punch her in the face
I was 5 years old when this came on the air and it was the very first cartoon show that became my favourite (the first halloween I can remember I wore my Penelope Pitstop costume! lol) Thank you so very much for bringing back so many memories. I do love Classic Cartoons :)
