nowhere its written that mahdi has to be arab from holy prophet SAW's family. but we do find indication otherwise that the mahdi will be from persian decent. i do not know which prophecy/ies you are referring to but my own research has confirmed that his claim is true. just one prophecy of sun and moon eclipse is good enough to confirm his claim.

Well I may no longer be Muslim but I would like to make a comment that when I accepted (however reluctantly) the prediction of Mahdi, I had very much enjoyed Submitters understandings of Islam until I asked about the Mahdi, when I was answered that their leader was the Mahdi I immediately cut all contact with them.

Hadiths are telling us that there will come people claiming to be prophets/messangers. And we can see that this hadiths is true. Musaylma, Sajjah, and many other of the ancient times, and Mirza, NOI, Sumitters, Bahaaees and others less prominent ones, claiming to be messangers. So you can see that this Hadiths is true. Quran speaks about two outh/covenent taken from Messangers by God.

1. Taken from Messangers.

2. Taken from Messangers and Muhammad (PBUH)

The first was, that they will help the prophet of covenent.

The second was, that they will be asked weither they delievered the message or not.

Both these covenents are in different Chapters and are not related.
