@lloyd8christmas collect the blue spheres dodge the red spheres. thats all you need to know. oh and if you see a block of blue ones run through the ones on the outside first and then the rest will turn into rings. good luck!

do you lose the ability to become super knuckles after having 1 super emerald ( if the super emerald shrine is not complete can you still become super knuckles?)
@dullah299 you lose the ability to turn super sonic/tails/knuckles when you first enter the shrine sense the emeralds turn into unpowered super emeralds, making them unusable until you restore all 7
@barcigian Not the only place where he's using glitches :). It's not cheating though, as you are allowed to use as many glitches as you can in order to speed up the process.
@barcigian I'm not Sonic expert. But if you follow the link in the description, click on "Movie" then "Genesis", you'll be able to find a run of the game with explanations included. That might help you to understand how the glitch works.
Very cool, very cool. This is the first TAS for a Sonic game that I've ever seen, and I must say that it's something I'd like to see more of. How fast could you do it with Sonic? He's got a few briefly extended stages and some extra boss battles, like Carnival Night, Hidden Palace and Doomsday.
Wow, I was going to play Sonic 3 & Knuckles through again since it's been a couple of years...but after watching this I kinda don't feel like it anymore.
@angkst That's why I like these videos so much. They've done all the hard work for you. lol. While the game itself isn't hard, getting all the emralds can be a bitch. Because unlike the past sonic games, you have to know where the special stages are hidden. In 1, you just had to have 50 rings by the end of the stage. in 2 you needed 50 by the time you find a check point. Also, getting past the special stage is hard as fuck IMO.
@sigma20xx I've beaten all the Sonic games with 100% completion, (I play the series through every couple of years, I'm in my mid-20s now), and the special stages are fairly simple to me, but my biggest problem is the time consumption. It just takes to damn long when I play it, which is fine with me, but after watching this video I feel deterred. But you're right about it doing everything for you, I feel fulfilled just having watched this bastard. Still fun to play though.

Yeah it can be a time consuming game but think of how you play compared to how the guy in the video played. I bet you could cut your time in half if you cut back on the exploration. The stages are huge but only if your trying to do and get everything. I don't think you'll be as fast as this guy, but definitely faster overall. of course the exploration is half the fun.
I wonder how that glitch @ 8:35 helps in the speed? It might activate that wall glitch @ 9:00 but how are we sopose to tell. He clearly jumped and flew into it killing himself though.

"Glitch" is when you take advantage of a pre-existing error in the code to change a program or allow yourself access to things you shouldn't have access to.
In this case, it's a glitch, not a hack, because he's not using say, a game genie to alter the ROM. He's taking advantage of an error in the game code.
I remember being disappointed when I got hyper knuckles the very first time because all he did was flash white (where as tails and sonic was this cool flashy yellow gold color).
@TheFanOfGuitarHero you do realize what the purpose of a TAS is right? to clear the game as fast as possible, if he had stopped and got the other rings in Hydrocity 2, he would have gone way off the stage main course to reach them, its easier to just get the fast shortcuts in Marble Garden

I've actually managed to pull off a similar glitch at the laser boss in Flying Batter Act 2 as Hyper Sonic
