While I agree with the cause behind it, this video does not produce a positive reaction. If we demonize those we are trying to change, it'll take that much longer to change them, and that much longer for people to actually listen. Politics demonizes, from both sides and as we see, nothing ever changes.

I'm with @allthingskenteroo. i'm getting really sick of the sensationalized campaigns from GP. This whole "evil corporation" approach is only going to get you so far in that it resonates with so few people. I thought the intention of non-profit work was to do the most good and ultimately convey your organization's message to the most people. This campaign only appeals to people who are already on your side, and only some of them- I did the GOT last year and I'm really getting tired of this.

Heavy on rhetoric, light on data. Talk about "PR firm" this is a perfect example.

How many used? How much bi-catch? Treaty violations involved? What nations? What geographies? Numbers, people.

For the record I am a GP supporter but they can do a lot better. I could go on and on. Give us actionable information and we can pressure the right people. Give us rhetoric and we come off looking like ultra left wing freaks.

terrible tactic. there's NO WAY to feed the world fish caught by people on fishing line. rather than promote an impossible alternative, try discussing how unhealthy (i.e. mercury laden), habitat degrading, and immoral fish killing and consumption is.

@StopmeatGoveg There are already many brands that do sell tuna caught by pole and line. If you live in Australia there is Safcol and Fish 4 Ever and also some of Coles and Aldi's range is caught by pole and line. This shows that it is possible with realistic product prices.

the thing that really baffles me is how people cry foul over animals other than fish caught in nets or line. fish are proven intelligent and capable of pain, so why is it okay to catch and kill them but not other marine animals for food?

@StopmeatGoveg Most of the brands I just mentioned are not Australian, and sadly I doubt the fish they use come from Australia. I'm not sure if such brands exist in America, but hopefully they do.

Your second point I agree with, but I'm not sure if there is an answer. I guess one reason is most of the other sea creatures caught are not wanted and are therefore discarded. This makes their death unnecessary.

You may like the 'Ethical Consumer Guide' , Aus website but has international products.

@funkyironman69 i've just heard the number 17 Billion marine animals are consumed in the u.s. alone and can't fathom every single one being caught 'ethically.' you should visit watchearthlings . c o m. it has a part about the fish line industry.

got a riddle for you: if throwing back marine life is bad cuz their death is unnecessary, then how is eating them any better if vegans prove it is unnecessary to eat those fish in the first place?

This is the most stupidest video ive ever seen. Green peace has NO idea about fishing. Im sorry. This gu ru's have NO Idea what goes on out in the ocean. They sit being a desk and computer and look at false data. IF anything, green peace is hurting every ones health that eats seafood because they are shutting down jobs that catch citizens REAL fish, and are encouraging farm raised fish that are fed steroids for fast, and CHEAP raising of them that YOU citizens eat and don't see the problem!!!
