It's a talk box in the beginning! Hooked up to Joe Perry singing through it then the guitar play what he says, I am in music theory and just learned that, Really cool, thought I would let you know. Look it up on Wiki and it tells you all the instruments used in the beginning of this song!
@MrLangman It's a talk box in the beginning! Hooked up to Joe Perry singing through it then the guitar plays what he says,as he is playing the guitar, I am in music theory and just learned that, Really cool, thought I would let you know. Look it up on Wiki and it tells you all the instruments used in the beginning of this song, plus check out a live version of this song, shows all the instruments, really neat!
Have this entire album ripped to my Xbox... Play a round of Call of Duty or rip around a road course in a supercar in Forza 3 with this in the background. Totally epic.
Bought 'Toys in the Attic' in '76...was 14 yrs old...this tune instantly became my favorite....couldn't understand why the FM stations never played it....aahhh, what the hell did they know about music anyway.....
Steven Tyler wrote this about how frustrated he was with the band. They were doing a lot of drugs at the time and tensions often ran high, especially between Tyler and guitarist Joe Perry. The song is also a statement about doing your own thing without letting others bring you down.
These guys were the greatest back when they were junkies, clean but gritty, just fuc*ing fantastic, they sounded like whole thing could fall apart any second but it never did. Post junkie period just too Fuccing clean and orderly, too perfect, lost the soul.
@Blackgold3112 what do you mean? It did fall apart though, didn't it, when they couldn't perform/do shit anymore. That's why they aren't junkies anymore sir!
A sugar packet... what a great musical instrument almost as good as the bass maramba. I still remember where I was when I 1st heard this song. I ran out to buy the cassette and I found Toys In the Attic at a Bradlees (wow) Took a shovel and a few colored towels a small piece of wood and duck tape... ripped the towels up and I taped them with the wood around the top of the shovel and had my first Steven Tyler mic stand.
Agreed! EXCEPT, the whole damn 4 minutes should be giving you chills!!
This is a GREAT "life-soundtrack" song: when you're getting laid, falling in love, making a big play at work, winding your 350 out from the redlight, haha--whatever. Its a profound-moment song! Sweeeet emoootionnn. Excellent!
@pickledogpete when i was 6 my dad would be playin' the classic rock station and this song would start and the first 3 seconds i'd be yellin' "Sweet Emotion"!!!!!! my daddy is a rock n roll guy mostly and that's where i got my taste in music. my brother got his taste from my mother and listens to Gaga and Kesha *ick*. Aerosmith 4Ever!!!!
"You stand in the front just a shakin' your ass", you gotta love that verse! This is an awesome classic by one of the greatest bands in the history of music.
So........how many of y'all out there know the REAL story of the session of this song? Aerosmith was contracted to record in N.Y. city. Unfortunately when they got there, someone had stolen alot of their equipment. In the very beginning of this song.....when it sounds like maracas....it's actually Steven shaking two sugar packets together in front of the mike. Truth. Don't believe me? Look it up.
Excellent.Line up and light'em up.
