I agree with you, I have tried to run some Windows Games and the results were not what I was expecting... Some of them do not work and some others is better not to run them (your system might crash), I might be doing something wrong, anyways, I am not a gamer, so its not a big deal :)

@forenhostnet Blink rate doesn't necessary tell you much. Ideally during startup you want as little blinking as possible, and instead solid lit. I haven't watched the video yet, but I'm pretty sure both OS's attempt to optimize the startup files to minimize seeking (which causes the blink). This video may tell you which one could be better optimized.
Yea but how many FPS do you get on Linux in BF:BC2, Crysis, Fallout, etc? Exactly, 0 cuz they don't run or you have to putz around with wine to get a half-assed version (minus DX10, DX11, and other things) IF they ever work under wine. Yes yes, "real work" blah blah blah, well I like gaming and working, so you can keep your 5 extra seconds saved during boot up and I'll keep my pretty DX11 BF:BC2, etc.

I use Lin/X/7. When I can have productivity programs on linux I may use it more; such as Adobe Premiere or Vegas. I feel hindered in linux due to wine being a bandaid.

Linux have much more stuff to load at startup, but these programs are very lightweight, windows startup programs are much heavier, they use more memory and cpu, MS programmers cant optimise their code, THEY JUST DOING IT WRONG

@djmac3005 Ubuntu can be a pain in the a**, and I have made it crash too. I dont think it is for beginners. I use Linux Mint, and it is better, because I haven't been able to crash it yet.

Windows isn't slow at all. It merely comes preconfigured with certain things always running. You can EASILY tweak Windows to run at blazing speeds with little memory caching just by accessing services.msc and tweaking a few things.

4) Windows costs money because the dependability is there, unlike Linux.

Yea but how many FPS do you get on Linux in BF:BC2, Crysis, Fallout, etc? Exactly, 0 cuz they don't run or you have to putz around with wine to get a half-assed version (minus DX10, DX11, and other things) IF they ever work under wine. Yes yes, "real work" blah blah blah, well I like gaming and working, so you can keep your 5 extra seconds saved during boot up and I'll keep my pretty DX11 BF:BC2, etc.

@chaemil72 exactly. too many people expect a windows clone out of linux but don't get that it's completely different. it's like expecting mac to be windows or vice versa. the only major company I can think of that is cross platform is id,Quake and Doom work on Linux just fine as they would on windows.

@ttewtm market share doesn't mean squat in all true reality. especially since linux can be distributed multiple times off of one disc. can't say that about windows anymore like it used to, which sucks since for $140 I'd like to be able to put it on more than one machine without using the family pack edition.

cool, now put some real third party programs on linux. like ableton, or photoshop or even adobe audition. the Waccom and APC's need to run tho, with their accompanying programs, and since I am not a programmer I do not want to "L2C+ llololol". Linux is "better" right? Library of software is better.;... right?...
o..yeah.. :(..
I use Lin/X/7. When I can have productivity programs on linux I may use it more; such as Adobe Premiere or Vegas. I feel hindered in linux due to wine being a bandaid.

@shawn106 it works fine and overall has competative features in comparison. it's just more streamlined and doesn't pack in the bloatware that comes with computers packing windows, and it's not a resource hog like windows can be

Linux have much more stuff to load at startup, but these programs are very lightweight, windows startup programs are much heavier, they use more memory and cpu, MS programmers cant optimise their code, THEY JUST DOING IT WRONG

@iorel1982 As usual, since it has the most versatila software and hardware support, it is very very heavy.
Also, it needs to be backwards compatible with old drivers too ( i am talking about 10+ years, and it still installs to the same folder, and still works)

@shawn106 i think that you don't know that ubuntu has much more programs pre-charged in his first use like open office, mozilla firefox,gimp,shotwell,brasero,pitivi,empathy and other much more programs even so is faster than win 7. windows 7 hasn't programs pre-charged :)

i would use ubuntu but im stuck with windows 7 because ubuntu dont want to use the software i need -.- ive tried everything like when i go to install the program it freeses D: so im sittin there looking like um wtf so i gave up :D

@djmac3005 Ubuntu can be a pain in the a**, and I have made it crash too. I dont think it is for beginners. I use Linux Mint, and it is better, because I haven't been able to crash it yet.
But the mani thing is, that it all comes down to what is your needs. If you use Windows because that is what fills your needs the best, you have made a better choice than using it just because it was preinstalled.
Windows is not alone anymore.

Welcome to the world of Ubuntu....(ie: crash central). I've been using and hacking Linux for 15 years now, and there's no denying that it's an inferior OS in every way. Linux is superior as background infrastructure for handheld devices like smartphones, tablets and servers. As an OS, it's pointless, redundant and time-wasting. Command line editing went out of style in 1989.
Linux is only versatile inside of its own little shell. When it tries to expand, it's limited.

1. Windows is SLOW. It eats memory for no reason. Linux is a light OS. It doesnt take more than it needs.
2. Windows is bloated. And because of that, MS programs are allways in GB. Linux doesnt need much HD space.
3. Windows has lots of Adware. Linux hasnt
4. Windows costs money, Linux doesnt.
5. Windows is not user friendly. That stopped with XP. Linux has become very user friendly in short time.
6. IE is built in on Windows. On Linux you choose your own browser- and software.

Windows isn't slow at all. It merely comes preconfigured with certain things always running. You can EASILY tweak Windows to run at blazing speeds with little memory caching just by accessing services.msc and tweaking a few things.
2) Windows 7 isn't bloated at all. In fact it's very light.
3) Windows doesn't have ANY adware. What a silly comment!
4) Windows costs money because the dependability is there, unlike Linux.
5) Windows is MORE user friendly these days than XP was!

Like I have said elsewhere, I have yet to crash Linux Mint and to see BSOD. Running 24/7, and not treating the OS nicely at all.

My comp with Windows there was trial version of Office. Why on earth should I want that shit? So they FORCE this SHIT on their users, because they are too stupid too realize Trial are not free versions.
Then I got Linux, and here was Open Office installed. Which is good, because it is free as well as Linux, and it is the full version, and that is not adware.
But Trial version preinstalled, that is adware.
