I would just like to know WHEN we (women) will be treated like we have some depth & as humans? On many accounts we are not equal to men but since we too are given life shouldn't we honor that by living it to the fullest, living our joy? Very moving account of a strong, successful, independent woman who ultimately submits to the culture around her. Very saddening. At times she didn't seem very endearing to herself, but she still didn't deserve to wind up how she did..
Even her father, who seemed to back her 100%, appears to practically throw her under the bus after her last tournament bout. And that last image of her.. You could just tell that she had been broken inside..
i assure if she was a palistinian she would not speak hebrew with her family especially not on my wedding day since the israelis are killing her people. i for sure would not speak it and i would only learn to speak it if it gets the israelis off my land and out of my country.

When she went inside she was being interviewed for the film which is made by Israeli producers who are not Israeli-Arab, so she spoke Hebrew because Arab 48 all speak Hebrew outside of home, it's the national language of Israel.

I don't feel any sympathy for him. In the beginning of the doc he said, on camera, that he supported Shadya and wanted her to continue karate, then on her wedding day he all of a sudden switches up. At least be consistant. I have a feeling he never wanted her to continue in the first place.
If her husband was a good muslim, he would let her continue to pursue it while balancing marriage and family life. The only reason why a guy wouldn't let someone continue with something like that would be if he is jealous of her or has control issues.

They're arab israeli and muslims...I'm a Palestinian and I don't understand why they would choose to have Hebrew as their first language, but then again I'm not surprised. There's a lot of things I don't understand about arab-israelis...oh well. I hope she's still doing karate.

I don't feel any sympathy for him. In the beginning of the doc he said, on camera, that he supported Shadya and wanted her to continue karate, then on her wedding day he all of a sudden switches up. At least be consistant. I have a feeling he never wanted her to continue in the first place.
