I've met Aquiles Priester in Expomusic 2003 I think, I don't think he will remember but back then (when I first heard of him, joining angra) I thought he was extraordinary. He was a simple guy, very accessible and great with fans, I asked for an autograph and till this day I still have it on a Orion Cymbals catalog. I don't think discussing the DT topic is a standard to the level of his ability. He was side-by-side with some of the most monstruous drummers in the world and he hold up to his name

Sobre essa de "ele é melhor que aquele" eu acho que, quando se chega a um certo nível não há como saber qual é o "melhor". Isso é muito relativo. Há muitas coisa para se levar em consideração, não apenas 'o cara mais rápido' ou 'o cara que entrou no guiness'. Apesar desse DT ser uma verdadeira guerra de egos.

He is an amazing drummer with a terribly good tone also........these drums sound incredible. I guess the main reason he wasn't chosen had nothing to do with his technique, which is obviously top notch. I think the main reason is not being american, he already said getting the visa to travel was a nightmare, plus he comes from a very different place. You could see in the audition that he was a bit "out of place", same as for Thomas Lang, amazing drummer but didn't seem to connect with the band.

Ok, the DT auditions video just showed his mistakes, but we all know that Aquiles has a very developed sense of discipline and objectivity. It is not better or worse; it is just a different to work. I've also seen the test from Aquiles for DT, and I can define two things (in one sentence), It's true that Aquiles failed some sections (at least, that's what I could watch) on the audition but it's very clear that DT isn't the kind of band that Aquiles needs to show all his talent. By the way, congratulations for this new DVD Aquiles!, you have lots of talent and skills on drums, so keep on drumming!.
