  • its kind of weird that there is a giant hole in the emperoers headquarters that leads straight to the core of the death star

  • Best video on youtube

  • This is as epic as epic can get.

  • I love how Vader says "sister" in this scene. "Especially for...SISter."

  • It's up by a semitone here....which makes it sound even better... :D

  • Compare the amount of emotion in this relatively simple fight scene to the endless choreography in the later films.

  • So basically he's called: Darth Father...

  • @megupati Hey! Thanks for the video! Can you tell me the name of the song? because I have the trilogy soundtrack and it does not appear. I really like this song and I don't know how to find it. Thanks a lot.

  • @MrBacter87 it's the last part of the track "the battle of endor II"

  • @megupati Thanks, I got it now ;)

  • i really like music which starts to play since Luke screams "NEVAAAAAAAAAAAR"

  • Luke: this is what you ow me, Vader: what was that for? Luke: that was payback for cutting off my hand

  • Luke: this is what you ow me, Darth mkl

  • You forget "No.... N-o-o-o-o!" : )

  • I just realized i could probably watch this whole movie with just the symphonic music and still enjoy it

  • THE PREQUELS SHOULDVE BEEN DONE THAT WAY! NO JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL SCRIPT FROM LUNEY LUCAS! SUBTITLES WITH MUSIC!

  • true jedi doesn't need words or subtitles for this scene, just music

  • @Jperrion24 you're right but i also made this for everyone else^^

  • in my house talking is forbidden during this scene. Interuptions will not b tolerated and we b treated as a class A felony a-- whoopin.

  • vader has finally fofilled he prochcey

  • 1:10 to 1:44 so very, emotive

  • @mortaroman It's too good. Now I have to have a duel to the death with my best friend. Just calls for it.

  • omg i feel so .... dunno

  • what's with anakin and his hands always being chopped off..

  • Darth vader is the most greatest father

  • 6 movies! all talk about the SUPER "power" of the force and in reality, u never see what the power of the force can do besides move a couple things, convince idiots to agree with you, and have better reflexes and agility...Yoda DIDNT do crap and he was supposed to be a LEGEND! and yes the force also allows the super bad guys to shoot electricity...what im trying to point out is that we never actually did see the real force of the"Force" .

  • Comment removed

  • @Wakipenda Play The Force Unleashed and you'll see the power of the Force ^^

  • "Vader" in Dutch means father...so it was clear all along..xD

  • @Wakipenda for dutch people^^

  • @megupati not correct .. Vater in german not Vader ..

  • @Bofur77 what's not correct?

  • @Bofur77 He means dutch not deutsch. :-)

  • @Bofur77 Dutch isn't Deutch you dumbass.

  • @Bofur77 Vater is father in GERMANY

Vader ist father in NETHERLAND :D

  • @Wakipenda Dark Father. xD

  • @Wakipenda Lol, Dart father.

  • @Wakipenda well its written Vater not with D but yea pretty close

  • its "Vader" in dutch "Vater" in german...(Deutsch)

  • @Wakipenda

And Vater means father in German;-)

  • @Wakipenda ja we wisten het de heletijd al XD

  • 1:10-1:41 game me chills....

  • At 1:09 he says darth not never

  • @yep69d actually i'm quite sure he says "never". it's also in the subtitles of the DVD. besides in german he says "nein" which has a similar meaning like "niemals" which is the german word for "never".

anyway it makes much more sense that he says "never" instead of "darth".

i think in episode 6 luke never calls him "darth". he just calls him "vader" or "father"

  • @megupati "Nein" is the German word for no. Vader says perhaps Leia will turn to the dark side, to which Luke cries out "NO!!!!"

  • @trblack777 I know that "nein" is the german word for "no" because I am german^^.

as i said in the german sync luke says "nein". still i'm sure in english he says "never". he shouts it quite fast so you can't hear it clearly. anyway it's not that important if he says "no" or "never". his motive stays the same: he doesn't want leia to turn to the dark side. but seen in this context, "never" seems to be way more expressive than "no". but that's just my opinion

  • @yep69d no he doesn't!

  • Some parts of the subtitles are wrong.

  • Epic scene, but epic fail on the subtitles.

  • @freakycookie101 is there a mistake in the subtitles?

  • Darth Sidious cloak is fucking pimp, Seriously i'd love to buy that if i knew where i could get it.

  • Goose bumps @ 1:10

No matter how often I see this movie.

  • (Thumps up if you watch this in 2011)

Star Wars has the best music!

  • Definitely works better as a silent movie :)

  • NNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • No words needed.

Get ready for extra "NOOOOs" though, if you hate subtlety, you'll love the new Blu-Ray release.

  • "It's the only way you can safe your friends" yeah cause that makes sense.

  • "See, Grandma? This is called 'Youtube'"

"Oh, I see. What does this button do?"

    "Grandma, no-"

    *click*

  • this song defined my entire childhood. I LOVE it

  • from 1:10 to 1:41 what's the name of the music?

  • @Zderzak95 The Battle of Endor II

  • i remember playing ROTS on the xbox and the score when the emperor is using force lightning on luke was used in the ROTS game.

  • EPIC !!!!!!

  • 1:24 on is fucking AMAZING!

  • Classic

  • goosebumps to the max

  • 4:36 I remember the whole theater was cheering when Vader grabbed the Emperor.

  • anyone know the actual song name?

  • @myhandsarebananas , the final duel and death of the emperor

  • just beautiful

  • Its kind of amazing how the entire trilogy you hear the music and think its Luke's until Vader denounces the dark side, and you realize its his music after all! I'm talking about the music that plays while Vader is tossing the Emperor down the reactor shaft.

  • @jonbap426 I think you mean the part at 4:35 the horns are playing? actually the star wars theme you hear in the beginning of every sw-movie is luke's theme. but of course you're right that there's a connection between the scene in the video and the scene from episode IV where you hear the same music when luke's watching the binary sunset^^

  • @jonbap426 It's this amazing change in music, around 4:36, that really makes us realize what's going on in Vader's head. Lucas added "no!" is not only superfluous and insulting to our intelligence – above all it's a huge insult to John William's amazing contribution.

  • @nyo267n oh shit, you're right. till now i actually hadn't realized that. my urge to buy the blu-rays wanes more and more. it's just a shame how lucas destroys his movies with needless cgi and changed dialog and simultaneously he disregards the work of so many talented people, and i mean not only john williams

  • @jonbap426 Another point: the music at the end of EP I while the Gungans and the Naboo are celebrating; this funny music is the Emperor's theme, differently played. Williams does that and I love him for that!

    :)

  • Amazing!!!!!

  • I Love when Vader throws Palpatine he's like, "Okay, I'm a Sith, But u ain't gonna lay a hand on my son!!"

  • One problem I’ve always had with “Return of the Jedi” is that George Lucas has spent three films giving us comic book characters, and now he actually expects us to care for them when he takes them operatic.

To a lesser extent, this is also the overriding flaw with the “Star Wars” prequel trilogy.

  • @HenryConway007 well i think you can get over it and go hate somewhere else? cos i mean seriously, were all just here to watch the scene, not to diss it, cos why else would one look this up on youtube? so yeah id appreciate it if you found a forum to express your disapproval of how george lucas wrote the story.

    thanks

  • @DMRisPRO Because I wanted to see the way Richard Marquand framed it, and the way George Lucas edited it for a parody.

  • i was so happy to see the emporer die, i hated him so much

  • epic!!!

  • six people are Sith Lords

  • @TheMushroomGod777 Well... I'm an aspiring Sith and I like this soundtrack/scene...

  • @AdmiralCNorton From the Mighty Children of the Creator, Yun-Yuuzhan, we look forward to meeting you Infidels in glorious combat. Al'tanna Shimarra knotte Yun'o, do-ro'ik vong pratte!

  • Pretty sure this is like the highest video quality of this scene on all of youtube...seriously, this rivals my TV.

I couldn't help but notice that some of the dialogue is incorrect...nevertheless, great composition, excellent video.

  • wow, this is some truly powerful stuff!

  • Look at Vader's Left hand when he says "if you will not turn to the dark side, then perhaps, she will" that is luke's lightsaber because the original concept for this scene involved Vader taking away Lukes saber again, but he forces it back when he screams "NEVER!!" Must be an error

  • thx so much for uploading this

  • remake plz

  • @w77eed

A remake of Star Wars? That would probably be the most horrible thing ever.

  • wha wha wha vader is dead

  • In only two minutes, Return of the Jedi was able to do what all three of the prequel movies couldnt. The final duel between Luke and Vader...its raw, powerful, and iconic.

The new movies have all the appeal of watching someone else play a video game.

  • 1:09

  • 1:09

  • Does anyone know if this on the soundtrack, and if so which track is it?

  • This is probably my favorite star wars track. It doesn't have the huge, sweeping, grandiose orchestral themes of some of the more well known ones. It doesn't need them. If you listen to it with the audio, the first part is so subtle I didn't really notice it was there till I heard the song separately. The music isn't here to be epic so much as it is to tell the story, and it does so brilliantly.

  • NNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

  • 0:19 BEST VADER POSE EVER

  • Fatherly love

  • always been one of my favorite Star Wars scenes, but now that I've heard the music without the dialouge and can totally appreciate the music even more, I love the scene all the better now too

  • @ 1:11

  • kind sad music but still cool :)

  • actually i've watched this a few more times and the subtitles work really well. nice job man. i like the color coding.

  • @griffonstink thanks^^

  • the subtitles are a little peculiar but the video quality is great, and great editing too. thanks for making/uploading this. great evidence of how strong a storytelling element the music was.

  • where did you find this music? i couldn't find it on itunes or amazon. it's amazing!

  • @jewishbleevr I've got it from the soundtrack cd, but i'm shure it's also on itunes and amazon.

  • @megupati thank you! i got it. :) thanks for uploading this music is so epic!

  • Star Wars make my life better! Thank you George Lucas and John Williams!!!!!!!!

  • i like star wars

  • man i love this score and naturally the movie! unbelievable this performance of the orchestra and chorus.. williams is the mozart of today!! *__* long live mister williams! :-)

  • Who the fuck disliked this?!!

  • @KennyG881

Little immature children who we're brought up with the prequels.

  • @danielallen12 That's no excuse. I was born with the prequels and they sucked compared to the old star wars movies

  • what did darth Vader threw the emperor at?

  • @masterminded78

into the reactor shaft of the death star

  • @masterminded78 the dumpster lol!

  • when i first saw the bit when vader goes back to the jedi and picks up palpantine i was like "Fuck Yeah!!"

  • Even now - no matter how many times I see it, this scene always gives me the chills (even in the Family Guy edition lol). My god this is a damn good scene! Thanks for the post. =)

  • Probably the most epic score of Star Wars & John Williams! especially at 2:55 :D

  • the music from 1:10 - 1:40 should be called "The Last STand of the Jedi"... I will say no more.

  • 4:36 - Redemtion and bringing balance to the Force, love it !

  • I absolutely love 3:49 - 4:01 . Short but it's cool :D

  • Something about the way the Emperor's Lightning looks in this movie is just far better than what they do in the newer movies. The way Luke reacts to it just looks like he's being electrocuted, and the way the lightning pours off him and sparks violently is just more tangible. Even the lightsabers seem more realistic. The way they bounce off the railing a little instead of passing clean through it makes it actually feel like it's there. :{ I wish movies were still made like this.

  • from 1:10-1:41 is probably the best song from star wars next to Darth Vader Theme

  • @HatedSovietLion press 2 to hear it

    lol

  • @HatedSovietLion

    agreed

  • @HatedSovietLion

    Oh yes! Amen!

  • @HatedSovietLion Do you know what the track is called? I've been looking for it for a long time.

  • @HatedSovietLion I totally agree, but I don't know what the song is called! Can someone help me out?

  • 1:12- 1:42 wish they would keep the song going thats such a beautiful song

  • what is this ff7? lol

  • I've always loved 3:48-4:00. The Emperors theme music is just awesome!!! I always wished they've have shown the Royal Guards more though. They're supposed to be the elite, so let's see them fight!!!!

  • Best lightsabre battle in the entire saga.

  • these scene is so EPIC! i love to repeat this everytime i watch Return of the Jedi

  • I remember hearing 1:00-1:40 in a GT retrospective of the Star Wars games

  • Now lets compare: This lightning from the empereror killed Vader, right? So what about the ending of The Force Unleashed 2? Compared with this, Vader should have exploded in TFU 2.

  • @xRoXaSorax thats true, but remember TFU is kinda exagerated (still good tho)

btw, i havent play TFU 2 ;) (no spoilers, please? lol)

  • @xRoXaSorax, I don't think the lightning is what did him in. I don't guess theres any actual proof, but, I think Skywalker cutting off Vaders hand might have been what did it. I'm not saying the lightning didn't help, but, I really think losing his hand was the main reason. They've done really good in connecting TFU to the movies, so, I think if it was the lightning then they would have emphasized it in TFU. That's just me though.

  • @OWWLegendKiller Kinda doubt it. Vader and several others get their arms cut off all the time. I'm pretty sure he died because of the emperors lightning.

  • @xRoXaSorax

Considering his hand was also robotic, it wouldn't have hurt him as much. The Emperor's lightning is probably what killed him, especially because it probably did a large number to his mechanical parts.

  • @OWWLegendKiller Well if you consider the prequels to be cannon, his hand gets cut off once before and burnt off by lava without him dying.

Luke's hand gets cut off without dying too.

However, I sort of agree with you. He doesn't get lightninged anywhere as near as much as Luke, so I sort of think it some forcey thing (the will of the force) or something. He cuts of Luke's hand. Luke cuts off his hand and there is some sort of link.

Maybe turning back to the light side is fatal?

  • @BlackRaptor31 I think the Emperor's lightning might have fried his life support system, but I may be wrong. It could be the explanation for his suddenly damaged breathing.

  • @ProphetoftheMachines I don't really like it when events in Starwars get explained using science. It's a space opera, not a military sci fi. Things don't have to make complete sense (time measured in parsecs, and travelling at .6 lightspeed would still take fucking forever to get anywhere in space are 2 examples) and it works better when no explanation is given.

That's why I like to think that Darth Vader's death was a result of Luke's actions and not because he got electrocuted.

  • What is the name of the Sountrack)

  • @skatomano battle for endor II

  • @fantastibones

actually it's: The battle of Endor II (Leia is wounded - The duel begins/Overtaking the bunker/The dark side beckons/The emperor's death) In the vid I used only the last 2 parts

  • and of course "The duel begins"

  • Wahts the name of the Soundtrack?

  • The music in 1.10 - 1.42 is soooooo fantastic !!!

    Best music 4 ever !

  • wonderfull but put up link to download

  • epic

  • if luke aimed at the head instead like in the cave in ep 5 he would have turned to the dark side!

  • @MajCinematic

Is it really still rare to find today? I thought there was a new release by sony classical 6 years ago. I've got the Episode 4 and 5 release by sony classical. And you can find it on iTunes

  • @TheMartialartsJedi Yeah, at first I thought it was noooo, but if you listen really carefully, it comes out as NEVER!!!!

  • what a great detail, when you can see vader's skeleton you can see that instead of bones he has mechanical arms. really well though by lucas. also awesome music

  • NEVER!!!!!

  • I pretend that princess leia isn't luke sister and that ewok and han solo died after the first film

  • Comment removed

  • When luke goes berserk, that makes for an awesome lightsaber duel. you know why? because you can feel the emotion behind the fight, and not just have to watch characters that we have no interest in or know nothing about swing swords at each other, which soulessly perfect choreography

  • I also want the music in this video! Please!

  • @Comissar80 email-adress?

  • @megupati can i also have the music please??

  • @TheMartialartsJedi no. he really says "never". and it's also in the original subtitles.

  • GOD DAYUM I LOVE THIS MUSIC!

  • Wow Fanfic subtitles. Lame. At least I liked the scene

  • i bet electricity tastes horrible when being electricked by the dark side of the force

  • is that the actual name of the song?
