ahh wicked thanx m8 yeah the doco i was talken about was alby mangles world safri he done 3 of them and shows him there he had a ship called the greta mariea and can you dive on all the ships there or is it only the ones that they allow you have you got any other footage from there love to see it thanx m8 regards jason
Hi, no not seen that documentary. You can still find a lot of WW2 stuff around the Pacifc islands, from the Japanese occupation, and US assaults. Could be one of these, possibly Micronesia- Chuuk, Yap, or Palau? Dive centre closed due to recession- could not get reliable flights out to the atoll. All the ordnance on the wreck at Bikini is live, 500lb bombs, shells and lots of torpedoes and mines, and also depth charges. Not sure it'd be a good idea to bring them up, they are unstable when dry!
loneshark thanx for the info m8 i love old war movies have you seen the doco from alby mangles he went on some remote island and found old ww2 stuff that still worked do you no where that is and how come the dive site been closed i was told that thew 500 pound bombs are sttll armed is that true thanx m8
The Bikininian Government are very protective of their wrecks, which were "gifted" to them by the US Government. If you remove any artifacts, they will relieve you of your dive gear, fine you and probably have you detained. At the moment, you can't actually dive there unless you charter a boat, get permissions and have a dive guide with you at all times, as the dive program has shut down.
