@iryan74656, the 245th Century?, what are you talking about. thats 224,000 years into the future?, tell me why this has any relevance to Zefram Cockranes first warp flight in 2063.
Listening to Steppenwolf makes it feel like this is one hell of an acid trip. And there was like starships and and like green explosions and like this big ass box that flew towards the earth and the spaceships spewed lasers at it and it blew up and shit and like it was cool.
I would love to find the actual sound clip from the movie. The bass was so load that it rumbled the theater seats. Now that was an awesome scene from any movie.
Always sucked how they didn't get to show the Defiant bearing her teeth more, and instead, looked as if she got pounded. It would crush a Galaxy class ship any day, as for a Sovereign, that's another matter...
What's your logic on the Defiant beating a Galaxy class vessel? Galaxy-class ships are long-range expeditionary ships where as the Defiant-class is more short-range tactical/reconnaissance. Not saying that it couldn't hold its own in a dog fight, but pound for pound it's outclassed in that scenario.
I can't argue number 1 or number 4 but as for 2 and 3 well pulse phasers would be more effective against a Borg ship being that they could easily switch modulations and frequencies which would give the Borg a difficult time to adapt to. That does not mean they are more powerful than regular phasers and they are actually more limited as pulse phasers are uni-directional. And we may not have seen a Galaxy class equipped with quantum torpedoes but do you really think they didn't replace the photons
with quantum torpedoes once they were developed. At least on their primary warships seeing as the smaller vessels seemed to be firing photons in the movie(but that was probably Hollywood effect to make the Enterprise look cooler).
It isn't really my thing to argue this stuff, but... I gotta add that that the pulse phasers are more effective against the Borg because they cant send feedback pulses along them like the normal phasers, which they seem to enjoy doing.
ravenclawtom: The fx guys for FC are ILM guys. Rumor has it that they slipped the Falcon into the scene (but people are still arguing about that). The rumor continues on to claim that the Falcon can be seen in various TNG episodes as well (ILM did the fx for a good chunk of the series).
This is awesome lmao

Rock 'n roll helped Doug Masters fight better, why wouldn't it work for Starfleet too?

This is what Dr. Cochrane would have wanted all starships to play.

1. Manuverablity, the Defiant is much more mobile than its counterpart.
2. Pulse phasers, the Defiant is built around these things, and they seem to be more powerful than regular phasers.
3. Quantum torpedoes, much more powerful than photons, and we've never seen galaxy class ships use quantums.
4. Armor, the Defiant has this ablative armor stuff that allows it to take heavy fire with its shields down.
I'm not saying I'd send the Defiant on a First Contact mission, but I'd take it in a fight.
