  • This is how Microsoft SHOULD have made the 2d cockpit. If a single person can make a 2d cockpit as brilliant as this, I'm sure a huge corporation like Microsoft could also have done it. It helps frame rates hugely, I bet a lot of people would start using 2d instead of VC if they were photorealistic such as these ones.

Great job edetroit, without doubt the best flight sim vids on youtube, imho.

  • Good job ;) a nice flight which ended with a very smooth landing

  • how do you have "head latency"???

  • What is the name of this game? 10x

  • FS2004 or FS9

  • Sorry... I mean the Plane, ist it CLS? The virtual cockpit looks awsome!

  • The model is by CLS. The cockpit is not a VC but a 2D panel custom made by myself.

  • Which Add-On is this ?

  • Nice video as always.

Whats the most advanced panel you ever created regarding system depth? Is it the DC-10? Or the 747-200 maybe?

  • My best panel so far is the DC-10....and it still not finished. The 747-200 is not completely mine....there is a lot of RFP systems still here.

  • Superb landing, thank you for the time spent putting it all together and for choosing the new LROP scenery!

  • thank you for the specs

  • what are your specs please replie

  • AMD Athlon 64 3500+, 1024Mb PC3200 DDR, 300Gb HD, 512Mb GDDR3 Nvidia 8800GT OC, Audigy 2 ZS, Viewsonic VP2130b 21.3" LCD

New rig coming: Intel Core 2 Duo E8600 CPU overclocked to 4.0 Ghz per core, 2 x Corsair 2GB PC8500 DDR2, 1000GB HD, IGb Nvidia GTX 285

  • Hey Ed id love to buy your old computer when your done with it. LOL

  • Ed are you interested in making a Hercules cockpit? I went in one today that had been tricked out with a glass cockpit and it looked impressive to say the least!

  • Not really.....I am interested in making a Boeing 707, 732 and Saab 340.

  • I just thought you might be interested seeing as you seem to love older aircraft. I'm looking forward to seeing those panels you're developing now though!

  • I think you might use the HJG 707 and the Tinmouse II 732, but is there any good S340? You don't want to use the Mike Stone model, do you?

  • Well if you were quick enough you might have got hold of the FFS Saab 340. (no longer available). Superb model...but the 2D was lacking IMHO.

  • I see, but I prefer old Props like the HS.748 by Rick Piper. I haven't seen many of those S340in Eurpoe, I only know Crossair and Dauair (ceased operations in 2006) operating them. They might be more popular in the US.

  • FlyBe?....don't get me wrong I would much rather fly a 707. But I am having great difficulty finding a 707 cockpit to photograph. lol

  • Oh yes, sorry I forgot their 340. It's nice to hear you try to develop a 707. I know two 707 in Germany: There's one at Hamburg's airport and a cockpit at the Deutsches Museum (German Museum) in Munich. But maybe too far away for you. Also there was one at Lisbon airport, but they removed it.

Sorry, I really don't want to annoy you, but there's also a nice Ilyushin Il-86 by some of the PT guys. It's maybe a nice alternative LoL.

  • Oh, and DAS Air Cargo flew some 707 from London Gatwick to Africa. But they ceased operations some years ago.

  • Munich is feasible..... I'll check it out thankyou.

  • HI Ed, Can you tell me where you got this DC-10 from?

  • The model is by CLS. (Commercial Level Simulations)

  • Ok thank you!

  • If im honest IVAO / Vatsim are both as bad as each other. On both you've just got young controllers not really 100% sure on what they're doing screaming down the mic at you if your just 10nm off course, even if you've already told them your going off course to divert from turbulence e.c.t. . . They're just annoying, and AI of the home-made is much better!

  • do Omni air even fly to Brize Norton

  • Probably not :P

  • Oh yee of little faith. Go to anet and do a search for Omni and EGVA.

  • I retract my last statement :P

  • They used to fly to Brize but not any more, they used to do the Falkland Island runs down there, but FlyGlobespan do it now

  • Hi, could you pls tell me which headset do you use to record your own voice. Thanks

  • Just a standard Creative headset....any headset will do. But I do record through a walkie talkie to get the radio effect.

  • Hi ED would you give me the name of the headset you use. Im dying to know coz i cant find a decent one. plz

    Thank you

  • creative hs 600

  • ThankYou

  • your vids make FSX look bad.

    XD!!

  • FSX is bad! :D

  • 5/5

  • Great. I like your editing style. The 'out of focus' effect was neat.

  • Really nice video

    Nice scenery for LROP

  • Ed, although vatsim is really funyou arent missing out much , there are alot of noobs and 12 year old controllers, but most of them know when to keep their mouths shut.

  • Thanks, I probably will not fly Vatsim/IVAO that much as I love my FS ATC and AI.

But most of all...autopilot on at crz alt is the only time I have to do my real world chores! lol

  • yea, us real world computer pilots have stuff to do too lol

  • Very nice sir!

  • PS- L1011s forever, loved the shots of the Tripigs.

  • Worked with this exact tail number so much its not even funny. What a POS! Great video, as always. Blue Side up. Next time paint the plane in a reputable companys' colors. JK JK JK! Haha keep em coming, great work. BLUE SIDE UP! in the case of Omni, OILY SIDE DOWN.

  • Great video, the DC-10's my favourite aircraft. It's a shame that there's no sophisticated model avaliable, but the Xsimulate DC-10 seems to become a great aircraft. But it's not yet been released, so I still have to fly my easy but lovely CLS DC-10.

Two questions: Is EGVN by UK2000? And are sound (engines) and the touchdown smoke custom by you or can I download them somewhere?

  • EGVN is by UK2000, Sound set by Mike Maarse and touchdown effects by Nick Needham.

  • Thank you very much!

  • i still think, like many others, that you should release your panel mods/updates of freeware and payware ones and you would do a great impact on the FS community!

  • agreed. He could even earn living with those as i'm sure hardcore airline simpilots will fall for these panels.

  • Have you made any changes to the FDE of the DC-10 that you may like to share? I find that the original FDE is not very realistic..

  • lol, AES at Brize Norton?

  • Yes get the update at Aerosoft.............no not really.....but I can dream. lol

  • TriStars and DC-10's in the same vid, Ed? You've pegged the retro-fun-meter with that one! That Omni Air livery may be a bit bland, but I like it - looks very modern, even on a 40-year-old design.

  • I like the Omni Air because it uses the Penny & Giles engine gauges.......which reminds me I need to edit the full cockpit bitmap (right at the beginning of the vid) as it has the wrong gauges. lol

p.s Any excuse to get a L-10 in the frame and I'll take it.

  • great video ed, one question, on your replays how do you make evrything move because it doesn't do that on my replays.

  • You mean the active camera type effect?...or you mean the panning effect?

The panning is by FS Recorder (turn down the panning rate) and the vibration effect is by NewBluefx (post production)

  • No, I mean when you're on approach the ailerons are moving and stuff like that.

  • I take it you use FSRecorder for replays...if you don't you should.

Go to FSRecorder settings and check what you want it to record.

  • raf bereiz norton were u get your planes and the parking breaks set hand all the radio talk basiclly and figures on the ground

  • do u not use squarkbox which is basically vatsim

  • My FS comp is offline until I get my new one next week.....then I'll give Vatsim a go.

  • ok nice 1 but wen u come to use it make sure u dwnload squark box makes life a lot easier by the way im in love with your dc-10 An-12 and 747 2d cockpits been looking for sum for a while on avsim and other places can not fine a decent 1 like urs i wuld try making 1 but just simply dnt get time

  • go with IVAO

Vatsim sux and isn't userfriendly at all

  • IVAO is unprofessional and doesn't have any good pilots or ATC.

    BANG! Roasted!

  • lol thats why i choose for IVAO after trying both IVAO and vatsim.. ur talking crap

  • you have to sign on to a teamspeak and switch channels to talk to atc (if there even is any on). while on vatsim, you tune via radio panel into the freq. more realistic, user friendly, fun and just better.

  • not on vatsim??

Dang, I've been waiting to recognize your voice for years! doh

  • Vatsim's not the greatest for making videos. It is however a pretty good community and if you get involed in the behind the scenes stuff ie forums etc, it becomes a great experience. If you're pretty good at realistic flightplans and not going to go off the deep end when you find there's no ATC at your destination since 15 minutes before your Top of Descent, and are in it for the community as well as the realism then youre all good. Make your own fun as it were.

  • Super Video. 5/5

  • Awesome video as usual Ed

  • Very nice!

  • Great video 5/5. I love the DC-10. I love the panels you create.

I was wondering how you got AES at Belfast International on another video. I have the EGAA UK2000 scenery and i thought AES for it hadn't been released yet. Where can i get it?

  • Download AES version 2.03 at Aerosoft. Belfast and Bristol have been made compatible.

  • Ahh. Thanks very much!

  • Fantastic, as always! 5*
