Is there anyone who can give me a hand? I am very very unframiliar with HTC, and Android phones. I know nothing what-so-ever. I had though, just ordered a HTC Magic for Rogers. I hope this is a good choice? We don't have the Hero yet. Also, is there a way to make it look like the Hero, and this "sense UI" can these be put on the magic? ..Is that what you cal, rooting a phone? and is Cupcake and Sense UI the same thing? Sorry for the little knowledge folks, any help would be appreciated. :)

@KittyGetAway i think UI and cupcake are just the terminology or name the devs called the updates of the firware..ROMS are the standard OS put in a phone..if HTC magic works with google android OS, it could work on there, but depends if some devs already made hacks compatible with the phone, such as screen pixellation, resolution etc...im not a pro either , but im prett certain about my statement..lol

I don't see really the major difference from the original cupcake and htc sense

is it possible with the orignal cupcake to define profiles (at home maybe, at work) where I can define if it should use the wlan or umts or which icon and widgets should be shown on screen

or is this feature only available in the sense edition

If you have T-Mobile and don't have it by now you're going to have to manually update it. There's instructions on how to install Cupcake 1.5 manually if you dial 611 with your T-Mobile G1. T-Mobile should have automatically updated Cupcake for you by now.

I have cupcake and I'd like to know if I were to do a factory reset will I lose the update. And if I don't lose the update and I do the reset will I have to register a gmail account again to use the phone.

you will not have the update but it will automaticlly redownload

u will have the update. i reset mine cause i got locked out, the cupcake update is the actual os being updated and u never lose those kind of updates, it stays 1.5.

u will however lose all of your apps that arent backed up to ur card and settings will be reset(ringers, ect.)

and u can just use the same gmail.

Those RSS feeds all have the same look and feel because they are created by the same developer! There is no default template for ALL feed widgets, just that the creator chose to use the same template over and over again because it was simple.

uninstall then reinstall should fix your problem dude.

You can navigate to Settings, Applications and then Force close the aHome program (in the same window where you uninstall it)

dude the easiest way without deleting aHome is by going to Settings>Applications>Manage Applications>aHome (or Lite) then scroll down to clear defaults...

He's running aHome, it's basically skins and more for the G1.

dude what are waiting for? why are you waiting for t-mobile to push the update to you? got to xda-developers and search for official t-mobile usa android 1.5 update link and you should find it right away. you do not need to have root to flash it. instuctions are on the website. and while you are there, look into gaining root access, it makes the g1 alot better.

its a great phone, but comparing 3g with edge is like two huge different things, people already know 3g wins all day, but it also depends on the user, do you need email and a "business phone" for your daily tasks (i dont but hey i got it for free) Which blackberry are you interested in?

It is? He's running aHome, normal desktop and many other apps and widgets at the same time, you can't even do multi-tasking on your iPhone.... No offence at the iPhone though, it's a great phone, if not one of the best

google is gonna keep people happy with all this people who bought the g1 are still getting improvements. they arent getting mad because the just bought the g1 and are commited for 2 yrs and then the g2 comes out a couple months later. everytime this phones updated its like a new device. i think android is more focused on the people who are locked in for 2 yrs so they wanna give them there full 2 yrs worth. apple is more business than consumer minded its all about beating the competition.
