  • you're a really adorable person

  • Thank you, ive been looking for a helpfull video all day because i have an assesment tomorrow but i forgot the basic needs for 40's >.<

just one question... lips; rounded or natural? i thought it was rounded but you said natural.. o.O xox

  • Great video! Thanks for the tips! You're the tops!

  • you sorta look like ELLEN PAGE ... or maybe it's just me!!

  • I love red lips too.

  • Thankyou for the tutorial, I love classic makeup they look very elegant^^ you look very pretty in this look!!

  • You remind me of Katy Perry/ Zooey Deschanel :)

  • thank you for showing us another way to use eyeliner instead of the cat-eyed look...ive been always doing the cat eyed look thinking they did that in the 40s now i'm noticing they seem like they tight-lined there lashes =]

  • I love how you used affordable products! great! xx

  • Wow your pretty!!!! Is your name katie cause you look like one?

  • nice!

  • That bare escentuals brush isn't a blush brush. I think that it's the angled face foundation brush. Either or I suppose it worked well. On your lips they usually outlined the lips and extended the natural lip line a bit. Also, with the eyes, they defined the crease in their eyes as well. Otherwise great job with the makeup tutorial. Your beautiful. :)

  • @masonhunk812 I appreciate your input, but this is my interpretation, please feel free to make your own video to your specifications :-)

  • You're eyes are gorgeous!

  • its funny how you pronounce "bésame"

the letter "e" has to be pronounced as in "bet" both times, because it's an spanish word... :p

    btw beautiful lipstick

  • @ClaudiaDenise Good to know, thanks!

  • wow you look the same

  • This is so great! You did an awesome job! The coolest part is that we look so similar so I know how I'd look in it, lol!!

  • Hey Bethainy, I have really oily skin. None of my makeup will stick to it, even if i use powder (such as translucent powder). I don't know what to do about it, I also have really large pores that I'm not sure how to cover. Is there anything I can do? I have SUPER pale skin and freckles that I love, but I don't know how to play them up when my makeup is running off my face. Can you help me?

  • you're so cute

  • you look good with bangs.

  • i love this video.could u also show how to do the britney spears look of oops i did it again.

  • i love Your skin + this video, thanks alot :D

  • I copied this for '40's re enactments love it thank you so much Bethany xox

  • you have the same face shape as me.... do you think its round?

  • I would say mine is oval, but leaning toward pear.

  • thnks :)

  • @bethainy lmfao you do not have a pear shaped face! x]

  • that's basically the eye makeup I wear everyday. :) Then I add the red for special occasions. :P :D Great job.

  • you're talented! I really like your tutorials... And you got a beautiful face ^^

  • haha... i have the same bare essentials brush and the handel broke off on it too.

  • I think it's actually from Everyday Minerals, but yeah, kind sucky.

  • I went to the dollar store the other day, and guess what I saw there? ELF brushes! Couldn't believe it...

  • wow

  • I followed this tutorial for my grad makeup, of course it didn't turn out as perfect as when you do it but I got lots of compliments on it! Thank you, Bethany!

  • oops i mean you look sooo young! lol

  • That looks so rediculously great!

    You are very pretty! :D

  • I was looking for an eye look to do with the new Chanel Rouge Noir lipsticks that I purchased and this would be perfect. Of course I came to your tutorials first lol!

  • Thankyou.

    :)

    x

  • Wow you're amazing at make-up.

    :)

I was just wondering, can you use any gold and black ect, and still get the same effect? x

  • Of course!! :-)

  • i was wondering where/how did you get your mac pallette?

  • They can be purchased at MAC stores.

  • ok thanks!

  • Hi Bethany. I have a formal ball to go to in Cambridge - very formal. And I loved your videos, I found loads of videos on the internet but the other tutorials always seem to put so much shadow on, your looks look so much natural and efortless.

I kind of chose this makeup look for the ball but i as I have olive skin, do you think it will look good?

  • Thank you so much!

And I think this will look great on you, though you might want to use a little bit darker gold on the eyes :-)

  • Oh goodness this video is so old... you actually sound a lot more shy than in your recent videos! That red lipstick looks beautiful on you.

  • Hehe, yup. This was my very first video... since then I've become a lot more comfortable on camera :-)

  • Love your videos!

You need to invest in some good brushes though. I got some for Christmas and whoa was there a difference. I know it's not as fun as buying new makeup but y'know what they say "a workman's only as good as his tools". :-D

  • I appreciate the advice... but I'm actually quite happy with the brushes I have. I get new ones all the time, though :-)

  • I really envy your classic beauty.

  • awesome!

you remind me more of alexis bledel, from Gilmore Girls lol

  • you remind me of ellen paige!

  • Hehe, you're not the first person who's said that.

  • wow, you seem to fit every time frame in history. :D Great job at the makeup!

  • Aww, thank you so much!

  • where do you get your eye shadow pallet the black one with all of those neat colors ?

  • The palette is from MAC and the shadows I have depotted from MAC, Jane, and Milani.

  • REALLY COOL!

  • below comment by abiblos lol forgot im on new account

  • Lol, ok, cool!

  • im so mad! our walmart is so tiny that they have like 0 makeup and no brushes..... i come from a very small town.... it sucks. your makeup is beautiful!

  • Ohhhh, well, keep looking at other stores! Kmart, Target, etc.

  • Thank you! I've been looking for a make-up look that matched my 1940s-looking dress for this dance I'm going to next week but everything was a bit too costume-y for my tastes but this is PERFECT! It's simple, classic, and tasteful. I adore it!

  • Not bad

its a very nice modern take on the 1940's look

I had to do 1940's for college so i will be uploading my video sometime this week

    it should all be fun

  • I'M SUBSCRIBIN TO U RiGHT THIS SECOND

  • Awesome! :-D

  • This is so helpful for my upcoming play! I had no idea how to do my makeup but this is perfect!

    you looked gorgeous btw!

  • I'm so glad it helped you!

  • this is really nice! but i think the lipstick is pronounced "Beh-sa-meh". it means "kiss me" in spanish.

  • Oh, cool! I had no idea ;-)

  • Supeeeer nice :D

  • Elf has an awesome eyeshadow 'paddle' brush. I love it so much!

This is the first video of yours that I've seen and I love it, just for the record. I'm gonna watch some more. :)

  • Really? I'll have to check it out. Though I haven't been able to find ELF at any stores... I've only ordered online in the past. Thanks so much for subscribing!!

  • is that ur real eye colour? :o

cos it looks fantastic with ur brown hair!

  • It sure is :-)

  • she reminds me of juno

    iloveittttt(:

    ahahah

  • Lol. You're probably the 4th person who has said that. I've never even seen the movie :-)

  • aww your adorable! very unique look at lining the top lid...I don't think I've ever seen anyone do it that way before. But yeah, alot of people ask me, where do you get such bright eyeshadow? and are completely suprised when I say "the dollar store and the internet" :]

  • Tightlining seems to be becoming very popular these days, I actually have a tutorial dedicated specifically to that.

That's cool! As long as the shadows you find are good quality, who cares right?

  • OH and I forgot to say that I love the use of your drugstore products, especially brushes!

  • Since I made this tutorial, I have added Russian Red to my collection :-)

    Thanks for the nice comments!

  • Very cute and I like the natural looking eye! MAC Russian Red and Ruby Woo are also great reds for cooler toned skins. :)

  • i love shroom! it was one of the first e/s i had from mac!

  • Really? It's actually one of the newest MAC shadows I've purchased, but it does seem really nice.

  • This was the best make-up video I've ever seen on YouTube. So enjoyable and I love love love the look you created!

You're ever so beautiful... you remind me a little of Madonna in the eighties!

  • Wow, thank you so much! I really appreciate your kind words.

  • You're gorgeous! You inspire me a lot. Your technique is also very good. Thanks for making videos.

  • Thank you so much! I'm so glad you like them :-)

  • What Besame shade is it?

  • Besame Red :-)

  • you're really really beautiful, even without makeup.

i wish i had your eyes.

  • Wow, thank you!

  • You're adorable and this look suits you very well! I love that you used a lot of less expensive brands...personally I think a lot of department store brands are just overrated, not to mention overpriced!

  • Thanks! And I totally agree :-)

  • I read somewhere that Boujois make up is made using the same stuff as Diors, or something like that, so it's probably just the label that we're buying.

  • I love the way you talk. I don't mean your accent or anything, just your speech patterns. You're good at make-up application, and your eyes are very deep.

  • Hehe, thank you :-)

  • Excellent! You are gorgeous! You remind me of a prettier Evan Rachel Wood! :D

  • Lovely tutorial , upon opening it I thought I wouldn't manage to get through a whole nine minutes, but you're very likable so they passed very fast. Nice work and I think this might actually be of help to me.

    x

  • Well, thank you :) I try to make them shorter, but it's just so hard to show all the steps in a short amount of time. I like to make sure you guys can see each step.

  • Are you wearing a Claddagh ring? You are EXTRA COOL! Thanks for the video! I like them because you are so down to earth and kind of goofy!

  • great vid! very nice look:-)

  • 40's is my favorite :] i loved this video, im subbing!

  • Mine too... obviously ;-) Thanks for the sub!

  • Wow. What a beautiful and understated elegance. Very lovely. Also, how much do you look like Christina Applegate in the stills at the end ? An even prettier Christina though. Keep up the tutorials!!!

  • Thank you! I will be doing another one within the next couple of weeks.

  • I really enjoyed your video, subbed. : )
