What are you idiots on about, first of all it wasn't the "English" that you're talking about, it was the British Empire which included; England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales, Australia, Canada, India and more countries aligned to the British Empire. Second, there were no bad or good guys and there usually isn't a bad or a good side in any war.
@blade0954 america declared war on germany because a german submarine accidently sunk an american ship... as for russia, there was peace at first but later on they declared war, but germany penetrated russia so far... germany was 'close' to victory at both the eastern and western front, not thinking about the fact germany's new weaponry was being superior (rockets,...)
The sinking was merely a catalyst. The US economy was badly damaged by the war and it was merely a matter of time before Washington came to its senses and understood the gravity of the situation... Nor was it true that Germany was close to victory. By 1917 it was impossible to speak of victory. Every nation was close to complete collapse.
@DeathWishMonkey for as far as you consider my reaction... I was talking about WO2 and the sinking was a reason to declair war :) if you'd know how much money the US has made out of world war 2... america had more to far out of japan than the germans lol... japan made a clear attack on american soil, instead of the germans who merely attack the supplylines of the americans... the US always tried to make a 'profit' out of it

@blade0954 your last question about technology:( my apologies but im not sure what you mean , english is not my first language . anyways WW2 was won by the allies so at least history was repeated which i imagine was the best outcome .
@blade0954 You are correct in saying that There was no strategy to win the war.. well at start there was but Churchill´s rise to Premier and his insistance of fighting Germany and Hitler kind of made the plan obsolete... They had calculated that England would ask for peace after the fall of france.
Im not saying that Churchill was better than Hitler but at least he learned that he should not interfere with strategy. His failure at Gallipoli and In norway made him realise that ...
