I noticed watching all 5 parts that it appears you're not sharpening the front (chisel) edge of the tanto blade. Am I mistaken? Or are you leaving that edge alone for the sake of ease in making the video?
I heard you mention in one video that you had gone up to a 6000 grit tape but the kit I'm looking at only has tapes that go up to 3000 grit. Can you buy the higher grit levels separately from them and also, who do you recommend buying it from? I've done a lot of business with Knifeworks and I think they have a good price.
Fair enough - though I see the benefit of both designs. So with this machine are you able to do knives like a Bush Wacker Mistress, which I just got in the mail by the way, and then something like a Spyderco folder?
@jankerson1 Is it me or are you placing the spine of the blade on TOP of the white piece of the EP as opposed to butting the spine up AGAINST the white piece? I assume this would get you lower/thinner angles, but doesn't it introduce variance as the blade can slide around on TOP? Thx.

@jeffersontool
The best place to get them is from the EP website.

Edge Pro or Wicked Edge? Have you used both?

@sachsunkelt
I really don't like clamp systems personally having freehand sharpened for over 30 years.

I hope no one uses this video as a tutorial. I don't even have mine yet and I see all the mistakes you made. You should take it off.

BTW... The arm is backwards... It should be flipped around to the other side so that the shaft is in the center of the table... ;)

@rusirius76
Yeah I know, I switched it around. :)

What is the sharpie trick? Where do you put the mark and what are you expecting to happen to it?

@jebleable
MArk the bevel to check if the stone is set right, if it is the mark will be gone when checked.

when u add oil or water to a stone, and the stone just keeps sucking it up, do u stop, or do u wait till the stone's surface has oil or water on it?
where do u buy ur stones?
do u angle the blade so the grind is flat on the edge pro, or do u just rest it, and whichever way it rests is good enough to sharpen it?

@john1112112
They are waterstones, keep them wet.
Get them from the Edge Pro Website
The edge has to be flat on the table when sharpening.

@jankerson1 k, thanks

I think switching sides frequently actually helps to stop the burr forming.

How much pressure are you using?
rc3mil 1 year ago
@rc3mil and why did you flip it over before you felt for a burr? Im getting my edge pro tomorrow thats why i ask

Not a lot of pressure is needed really, firm, but not hard. :)
