Thanks for posting this vid. I've been trying to learn teehan's reel on whistle, and your version is the best i've heard it played yet. It feels like you really achieve that magical quality that you can't just get from technique alone. like not just perfect technique, but perfect use of perfect technique, which is very difficult to learn. I'll be very happy if i can get mine to sound like this too someday :)
thanks a lot! glad you like it, some of the phrases i play are in part, taken from michael mcgoldrick's version of it on his wooden flute obsession cd. give it a listen if you can:) it sounds magical
oo, I have a feeling the website where I originally found the tune had a reference to that recording as well...I'll definitely have a look for it then, thanks :)
If you keep piping like that, you will be contributing to the scores of feature films one day. You have definitely developed a audible "style" of your own at this point. I would love to hear you play on one of the absurdly well made and warm sounding all-wood whistles out there, especially in low D.
wow, thanks for the compliment, yeah i'd like to own one of those wooden whistles someday, they're pricey, but they sound wonderfully mellow and well, woody! XD
I wonder what that would sound like on an F whistle........
