  • this form looks very similar to sil lum tao

  • In this video the late Master Kenzo Mabuni are teaching the Kata Tensho

  • i really like shito-ryu, you can see the fujian influence more clearly than any other okinawan MA.

  • how so, shito is a combination of other okinawan styles.

  • that's my fault, i meant you can see it clearer than most okinawan styles. i was a little ignorant there.

  • no i got what you meant, i just dont see it because shito IS other okinawan styles, just blended. their Itosu lineage kata are basically the same as any other shorin kata. and their naha te kata are quite similar to goju kata.

  • yes, but, Anko Itosu studied for some time under Sokon Matsumura who took many of his practices from chinese martial arts and the goju-ryu principles of hard and soft come very much from the bubishi. even naha-te openly credits white crane as it's primary influence. but i understand that although influenced by these they are all, as a rule, okinawan.

  • i still don't see how you can see more fujian influence in shito than other styles. that's what i'm getting at. shito doesn't really look any different than any other okinawan style.

  • Big man, hit a little man.Kick him in the ass.He is too small that you can not trust him.

  • I have met Kenei Mabuni and spoke japanese with him. I also have photos with him and his sig. He was the brother that inherited Shito-Ryu from his father Kenwa Mabuni and Kenzo had a cry about it then went away to make his own style.

the mabuni brothers never talked again after that.

  • I thought Kenzo inherited his style. That's why it's called "seito" shito ryu.

  • @Nosferatu303 Souke Hayashi's Shito ryu style came from "Seito Shito ryu" before it became Hayashi Ha Shito ryu Karate do. It is the curriculum which is still being taught to all students who are under instructors who still honor the teachings of the late Souke Hayashi. However, we've neglected Tensho Kata.

  • Can't believe Kenzo died before I joined Shito-ryu. I wish I saw and met him in person.

  • Shito's the best style ever :]

  • @ndntcsgn011 you just proove you have no idea of Karate-do .)

  • @ndntcsgn011 damn strait

  • Both Mabuni Brothers and the daughter deserve respect any comparisons between them and out of place comments are really below true martial artists. I have never read one negative comment from Kenwa Mabuni's peers. This speaks loudly and more boldy than anything one could say. Therefore we should not state any negatives or comparisons. They are their fathers children and know more than we will ever know.

  • with all due respect, there is no comparison between kenzo mabuni and his brother ken-ei, the latter being a far greater karateka

  • Thank you for posting this video clip. The kata being taught is 'Tensho'.

  • looks like mas oyama when he is warming up and sonny chiba........

  • It was my mistake and not being from this style I mistook Soke Hayashi for Soke Mabuni, but they were both great masters and i hope you enjoy the rare performances I managed to capture and preserve- welcome to my show @ joelsamuelpresents

  • Oh my god...this is soke Mabuni! You don't even know who Hayashi is!!!

I've had the pleasure to meet Hayashi when I started practising Karate under Shihan Seinosuke Mitsuya's guidance...he was a wonderful person and a great master.

Both Hayashi and Mabuni passed away a few years ago: respect to them!!!

  • Only those who cannot understand what is behind all these practice can speak bad about it. Fantasy as shown in movies is not bad, at least it motivates people to join and practice martial arts. As for traditional Karate Do, the video here shows Soke Kenzo Mabuni head of Seito Shito Ryu and not Soke Teruo Hayashi head of Hayashi-Ha Shito Ryu Kai. Both were excellent Karateka and an example of person to follow. I only wish I had been so lucky to have practice at least once with either of them.

  • yeah, unless you are into Martial arts' .......... I didn't know what to expect or get it out of it. It must be cool for those that like this stuff. But thanks for sending me the video nonetheless... lol

  • KOOL, I love this stuff, everyone just a got a first hand lesson of a Kada, I think that is how it is spelled by one of the masters.

  • Good solid basics, very cool to see this.

  • Sounds cool, BeatBuddy, but does it come in Cliff Notes? Is Genji any relation to Benji?

  • Yeah yeah, but can he stop a bullet? I don't hold no stock in that ancient Asian crap of self-defense. Just gimme a good rifle or pistol anytime!

    Keep doing your yoga/tie-chee, Teruo.

WHY in holy fuck did someone send me this boring shit anyway?

  • can u stop a bullet, before you start thinking of carrying a weapon, just remember u might not be the only cunt, be a good boy and learn karate instead, youll live longer.

any mother fucker can pull a triger, it takes time, patience, skill, to do martial arts, btw why are you watching karate on youtube, if your into guns, is it cause your interested but your not man enough to do the training , or r u just a CUNT?

  • Don't know what the hell I was supposed to get out of that ??? Hmmmm!!!

  • ya your welcome that I watched that boring shit... extreme bordum

  • From Nakaima Sensei, Hayashi learned a obscure family art called Ryuei-Ryu. This style is a southern tiger style imported from China four generations prior to Hayashi's arrival on Okinawa. After a year of proving himself to the revered Nakaima, Hayashi was the first non-family member allowed to study the style. Hayashi incorporates much of Ryuei-Ryu's theory into his own system.

  • He LOOKS harmless, but you and I know better.

  • It seems that the martial arts go back farther than most of us realize. Having read Murasaka Shikibu's massive novel, The Tale of Gengi, I was impressed by the application of tactics and movements that to westerners, were highly unconventional. Genji was written, according to western chronology, in the year 1001 A.D.
