If you watch his older fights he picks when and not to throw punchs due to his size, and to me that's not good Boxing. Yeah he lost to McCall in 92-3 something like that, went on to fight some others and then got a rematch with McCall in about 95-6. When McCall beat Lewis he didn't give him a rematch but went onto fight Frank Bruno who then took the WBC, then Bruno went onto fight Tyson who just came out of prison and Bruno lost to Tyson.

As a boxer, you need to be able to do a few things. 1) Punch, 2) Move and 3) Take a Punch. Where 3) is missing then 2) is mandatory. Frank Bruno was always missing the agility to get out of the way of incoming blows. He was always too upright and ridgid. Still loved him though!
