It is very difficult to put your own feeling into another persons work, obviously you can do it, but virtuoso's like Satriani, Petrucci, and Vai especially have an extreme knack for putting a ton of emotion and fun into what they do. After years of playing it and so forth.

Are you talking about the scratching? It's quite simple, you take your pick (plectrum) and slide the edge of it down the fretboard against the strings, essentially scratching your pick on them. Then with the left hand, you can essentially do anything - play chords, or play single note.

Though, chords sound MUCH better than trying to make it sound like a solo, when scratching.

Satriani and Vai are so good to learn from! You have to master lots of technique to do it. But more than that you have to master the technique AND be able to do it musically with all the dynamics.

And Cesar, you include all the musicality and dynamics needed to pull off these kidns of songs. Your Vai covers especially are the best on youtube (tone, technique and that dynamic musicality; perfect)
