in the 80's i jumped a train at the keddie wye and went to klamath falls and the next day jumped a southbound and did the feather river canyon to oroville, then the next morning jumped another and got off in portola, fun adventure!
Great VID well done. Worth every effort in running that baby down. The location Pulga, Feather River Canyon, is perfect once again keep the great work up more please. I'm new subscriber after watching this posting. 5 *****
wow Beautiful spot there dude!! interesting lash-up never seen BNSf w/ CN before!! at 1:00the track that goes off to the right is that the other track for traffic heading up the canyon? nice catch w/ the blue Cn ex: LMS Leasing!! i never knew what LMS standed for but i had a close idea to waht it really was! really love the view of the WB UP train at 3:16!! the trains here are awuflly short!! then the BNsf w/ now only 1 Cn or was only 1?
The BNSF had 6 total locos, with 1 CN and 1 LMS/CN. The tracks to the right at 1:00 go east to Portola, Nevada, then Salt Lake City, former Western Pacific route.
I edited out some of the cars so the video would fit in 10 minutes. The trains were actually much longer. Binney Junction video shows the entire BNSF train.
O my gawd! You got a BNSF train with two CN engines on it!!! DANG!!! 5 stars on this vid!
Interesting that this vid was shot September 1, 2008. On August 30, 2008 I was in the Feather River Canyon shooting video of both of Amtrak's detoured California Zephyr trains.
I couldn't make the trip to intercept the Amtraks. I was afraid there would be no rail traffic on Labor Day, but two trains within half an hour ain't bad, especially when I didn't have to wait for them.
The day that I shot the detoured Zephyrs there was tons of UP & BNSF traffic in the Canyon. I only shot one UP train because I was saveing my tape and batteries only for the detoured Zephyrs but I saw tons of grain trains, stack trains, manifests, etc in the canyon. The only odd thing though is that the freight trains were zooming through the Canyon as usual but the detoured Amtrak's were going through the Canyon at a snails pace, probably no more than like 20MPH. It realy suprised me.
Why have I never seen BNSF in Graeagle when I go up there for 2 weeks???

I'm getting ready to model the feather river canyon and do you know what kind of signal they use there.
Thanks,
Jimmy

BNSF is a great add on in the FRC, do you have any plans to railfan the highline ever? Great shots, 5 stars.

No immediate plans, but I would like to go up to Bieber someday.
cchan006 3 years ago
Yes, Bieber itself is kind of boring, but if you look at google maps you can find some cool spots. Between there and the wye.

Usually, BNSF leases CN power and UP leases CP power.
