The frogs in my classes came already dead & embalmed so there was no point in refusing to dissect on morality grounds as you wouldn't be saving any frogs from death. There would just be an extra dead frog in the bucket. But I believe I and a few classmates opted out due to 'weak stomachs' or something anyways.

I love animals too, but dissecting them to learn more about their organs and such is necessary because it helps us to understand them.. every vet who saves animals knows how to do so because they know how an animal's body works and what medicines will help them, because they've seen their insides after dissecting.

So funny. I was in this movie. An extra anyway. I remember the casting director saying, "The stars of this movie will be the stars of tomorrow." I rolled my eyes, thinking this movie would bomb and its stars would go nowhere.... Only to browse through a video store a few years ago and realize one of the stars had been Angelina Jolie. (I remember walking by and seeing Jenny Shimizu sitting there on the floor by one of the lockers.) So, yeah, corny movie, but fun memory. lol

To add to what I said, this was supposed to take place in 1952, which would explain a lot about the emphasis on women comming together and fighting against sexual abuse against society's low expectations of woman, as opposed to some 90s follow the hype movie. Anybody agree, or disagree?

@Nocturnina91 I do agree that it would be interesting to see this set in 1952 (def wanna read the book), but I think it translates well and "women coming together and fighting against sexual abuse" etc is still an issue for this time. Also, I dig the soundtrack...which wouldn't have existed had this movie been set 1952.

I love this movie,  but I must admitt, that it might've been a lot better if the director had kept the time period during which the story is set. Like in the book. I mean, it seemed like he just thought, well it's the 90s and chicks now-a-days dig the whole grunge thing. Like as if that would've been the only chance this movie had. I mean, it still would've resignated with a ton of girls all over..... not to take away from the girls' performances special Jenny who made her acting debut in this.

It wasn't all that bad... if I had to dissect something live.. I would run or drop the class.
