  • THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST GRIPPING SONGS EVER! She said, "Even the comfort of a stone would be a gain".......Sade is from another planet for real! I luv her.....xoxo

  • I love how she is half white with a white mother and dated mostly whites but still really imbraced her black side, more so than alot of other black artist. I wish more ppl, especially light skined and mixed ppl were like her..

  • I remember this song.

  • I never knew that Sade made a slave song. I have two of her albums and I like this song.

  • love this tune!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Whites have been slaves also.. Up to one-half of all the arrivals in the American colonies were Whites slaves and they were America's first slaves. These Whites were slaves for life, long before Blacks ever were. This slavery was even hereditary. White children born to White slaves were enslaved too.

Google it ... But i am not drawing lines in the sand .. OUR More important focus is on those that enslave us now!! OUR Government!! DEBT IS SLAVERY!! WE need to stand up together and say enough!!

  • @USMCM107A1 I think those were the Irish slaves to America right??

  • Just paying my respect for the contents of this song, singer and images in this montage.

  • "African American Holocaust"? Can we drop the obviously incorrect but politically correct term for describing people of sub saharan decent?

5% of the slaves stolen from Africa went to North America. Most were shipped to the Caribbean and South America

  • Allah`s Apostle (p.b.u.h) said in his last sermon:

"All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over black nor a black has any superiority over white except by piety and good action"

  • what's that picture at 2:08?

    a hospital??

  • its funny how some ignorants think there is a biological difference between white & black people

colour is a pigmentation... we are all the same species.

what you call "white" is a light brown-beige, "black" dark brown

no one was an ape, no one evolved more or less. science has shown human expanded by production (theologically, adam and eve) and not evolution

  • It was our OWN Holocaust ... caused to people BY the people ... our own blood ... since we bleed the same ...

  • Fucking love Sade... Needs to do a track with Thievery Corporation already...

  • @vapors420 tHANKgOD4yOU & yOURcOMMENT!!

Can't believe i've been sleeping on talent such as Thievery Corporation!! LOVE,LOVE,LOVE "Richest Man in Babylon"...... i want the song as my phone's RINGER if that's possible!!! lol

  • SLAVERY Is so evil...and to think people still do this to people around the world? all forms of slaverly. Makes me sick. Makes me angry.

My husband is from Zimbabwe and colonisation is JUST as evil...invasion is such an evil crime...Mugabe is a good man that stands up with no reason to justify... Mugabe is tough and he needs to be tough against all the foolish governments trying to turn him into a puppet on strings. Because of God he is still a leader. Misunderstood leader from the ignorant.

  • @SEEdestinyCLEARLY You have your head in the clouds. Mugabe is a self seeking tyrant, he is lining his & his families pockets. He stripped the white farmers of their farms. The cronies that took over these farms have got no idea on production, law & order or how to behave. Zimbabwe is now a mess, unable to feed the population or to be law abiding people. Mugabe follows in the line of most of the African so called leaders of the past, A nasty ,evil piece of work. He is a murdering scumbag.

  • Ignorance is not genetic. Some of the comments I've read proves my point. Great song though

  • I ABSOLUTELY LOVE SADE....ONE OF THE BEST SOUL SINGERS OF OUR TIMES

  • God has a white face.you all have the picture

  • @SuperRoss83 GOD IS COLORLESS !!

  • @billio0104 Amein! halleiluiah! Yes he comes back soon to dry every tear!I l Love him!!!!!

  • Sade breaks all sense of societal norm- She is a leader if you listen deep enough- She is blessed and must sturggle knowing what she knows

  • @perrydebora WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU TRYING TO SAY ??YOU'RE AN ASSHOLE !

  • @billio0104 actually fosterkidsonly is correct. Many African tribal kings who captured other tribal Africans sold thier captors to Spaniards and others to turn a profit. What other nation has not done the same?Even today in North Africa, Black African Sudan,Algerian Muslims capture and en-slave African black Christians in Shackles and chains!!! to turn a profit.

  • @combatkenpo that's what I said

  • Throughout history slaves have been utilized in almost every part of the world. Slaves have had red hair and freckles. Slaves have had blonde hair and blue eyes. It is just the most recent examples of slavery that are acknowledged. Now in the United States people are abused and used as slaves. No matter our skin color- We should all reach for the light continually.

  • things will be made clear in due time........some will have eyes but cant see, ears but can't here........the next ten years will be interestingl

  • things will be made clear in due time........some will have eyes but cant see, ears but can't here........the next ten years will be pivital

  • things will be made clear in due time........some will have eyes but cant see, ears but can't here........the next ten years will be pivitol

  • Slavery should never happen...however let ALL white, black, asian, all colors, all creeds, all religions, ALL HUMAN BEINGS take a lesson from it and NEVER forget it! Let us learn to forgive and love as we are loved by God...do NOT ever require the love of mankind cause it will fail you but the grace of God will always comfort and give strength!

  • nice song . we all need to free our minds from all form of slavery be physical, emotional, financial, political and any form of oppression esle you are a slave to the oppressors,

  • If u work at a job u hate then u are a slave to that job cause u can quit if u dont....

  • Try Asian women **busizz4me.info**

  • This is a deep song.. I've never listened to the lyrics.. thanks for posting

  • This was the holocaust of our People. Forgive if you can, but NEVER forget!!

  • The Truth is all around you. Ignorance is a CHOICE. To be truly free we must let go of ALL prejudice. I TREASURE the AFRICA that is in me!! Show love not hate. PEACE TO ALL OF THE CREATORS CHILDREN. REMEMBER THOSE THAT HAVE COME BEFORE YOU. SANKOFA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • love this song. any arguments are moot. let history speak for itself....for all ppl and races that had (and are ...) ever been enslaved

  • The last slaves that were freed where in Russia i.e. White Slaves !!

  • @TimCob Women are still used as slaves to this day. Slavery is still going on today and brutally.

  • @TimCob More information or links are neede for this one! Big Respect!!!!

  • THANK YOU SLAVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 'Slave Song' is my personal favorite track on Sade's wonderful album "Lovers Rock". This song should have been released as a single. I love Sade so much!!!

  • hijosss de putaaaaaaaaaaa

  • @MrLila36 U believe in God but yet u still use obscene language? The bible was written by man to whom all things was reveled by God. Revelation1:1 The revelation of Jesus Christ which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John.

Another question..... what other book contains the word of God.

  • This a song for Africa`s children and the Empire`s children alike. To the arrogantly ignorant may this song be a gateway that emancipates you from your propaganda. To dis-illusioned African descendent where ever you live, embrace this part of your history and know that your fore fathers helped build some of the great domocracies of the western world. In short, teach your children well, never forget, have no regrets, harness the spirit that endured so much for it is stronger than you think!!

  • Lovely voice! Sad song.

  • beautiful.

  • What about slaves in Africa... NOW? Yes, slavery still exists there... by their own kind. Sick. But people don't care... it's all about some distant ancestor and wanting to get some $

  • @laughingtiger123

What about them? What are you doing to help them?

  • slavery was the best thing to happen to this country because it started amrerica and all its engineering and wealth

  • @kegs95

It was the greatest thing to happen to white americans for the Africans who were enslaved (my ancestors) it was absolute hell.

  • @Amaru4ever If ur an American and a Negro then ur ancestors aren't Africans...... But the true ppl of God. Deuteronomy 28

  • @jUs1trUth

I'm not a "Negro". "Negro" means "black". My skin is not "black", it is brown and I am of African descent and damn proud of it.

I am the product of enslaved africans, exploited amerindians, indians and the europeans who placed them there. It is what it is.

But yes...jUs1trUth, my ancestors are African....and I'm damn proud of it.

  • @Amaru4ever The people who were brought to America from Africa were not Africans..... they are the true Israelites of the bible.

  • @jUs1trUth

You do know that very few enslaved Africans were brought to the U.S. right? Most went to Brazil and the West Indies. What about those people were they African? Of course they were.

Africans were enslaved and brought to the new world. Please respect to memory of my enslaved ancestors by not denying who they are just like those who enslaved them.

  • @Amaru4ever They are all the same ppl.... so therefore they aren't Africans. The scripture that I gave you Deuteronomy 28 you should take a read. That scripture shows why they were enslaved..... it was for punishment. Here are some other scriptures to prove that the true Israelites and God were "black". Revelations 1:13-15, Jeremiah 14:2, Daniel 7:9, Job 30:30.

  • @jUs1trUth

Yea.....not to knock anybody's religion but thats not true. African enslavement was for the economic benefit of europeans.

My ancestors were African....and, in a sense, so am I. We need 2 stop with this who "superiority" complex b.s. "Blacks" in the western hemisphere are of African descent...DNA testing has proven this over and over again.

    *waits for it*

  • @Amaru4ever 1st thing religion isn't of God it'is man made, is stems from the greek word religio, which means to hold back, keep down and restrain, which it has been doing successfully to our people for generations. when you read the bible you see clearly Christ was never part of these "religions".

  • @Amaru4ever secondly, If you believe in God then I guess you believe in the bible..Genesis 10 give you the lineages of Noah's son after the earth... Shem, Ham and Japheth. From these came nations, from Ham came Africa and from Shem came Israel to completely different nations. I already gave you scriptures to prove that the Israeites were black ppl so guess what the Africans were not the only black nation back then. The bible proves the white man lied about Jesus what else you think he lies about?

  • @jUs1trUth

I don't really believe in the bible. I think it has some valuable lessons but I don't base my life 100% on what it says.

But all of that is neither hear nor there.

Time and Time again, DNA analysis have proven that "blacks" in the Western hemisphere are of AFRICAN descent. Those are just the facts.

But hey, believe whatever you want 2 lol

  • @Amaru4ever it's sad to see my people so ignorant on the truth and when you try teaching they get all simple on you, but not every1 can make it. can they? Every time the truth comes out all of a sudden no one believes in the bible but yet still believe in God. What other way can you know God besides the Bible?

SMH.................It's your choice and not mine. But one thing I can assure you is that you'll find out the easy or the hard way.

  • @jUs1trUth

Like I said....believe what you will.

fact are facts. we are of African descent. get over it and stop hating yourself if you know whats good for you.

  • Thanks for sharing your talent with us!

  • Do we still have slaves? is there any contemporary form of slavery?

  • @teriqro

Yes slavery is still a problem in todays world.

  • love Sade allways, true nubian princess

  • What a burden we have to carry for the rest of our history

  • @geraodorjacinthe:

I never owned a slave. No one I know ever owned a slave. No one I know ever was a slave. Slavery was rejected by my country more than a hundred and thirty years ago, though we certainly weren't the last to do so. I feel no guilt-by-association because of slavery in my country's past. There is no burden to carry because of history. Only lessons to be learned.

  • @shooter963 the mentality is still here today. After slavery, oppression persisted for over 100 years! It's with everyone.

  • @Ripley1156 - That is a misleading generalization if ever there was one. It most certainly is NOT '... with everyone.' It is important to learn from history, of course, in order to avoid repeating the mistakes of history but you are shooting way beyond the mark by trying to push your self-righteous guilt on me. No one here ever owned a slave, knew anyone who owned a slave and certainly never knew anyone who was a slave.

  • @shooter963 Slavery is a part of american history and after slavery blacks were oppressed in this country for over 100 years with Jim Crow laws, etc. It is not merely about slavery but about a mindset and about oppression. You can claim africans enslaved africans but it doesn't null and void the fact that whites have oppressed people of african descent and africans for over 500 YEARS! in 2010, there are MANY whites who still act as if blacks should be subservient to them!

  • @Ripley1156 - You are 100% correct. Blacks have faced unfair treatment and were victims of institutionalized racism. However, that is history from which we can learn, not for which we should feel any collective guilt. You are also right that many whites are racist. However MOST whites are not racist, and to apply the faults of a minority to the rest of the population is simply wrong. Again, I refuse to take part in your attempt to declare some collective, cultural guilt.

  • @Ripley1156 I am sorry for all the pain, I wish it never happened makes my heart hurt ,sad that people hurt and abuse, I believe the meek will inherit the earth,I believe Messiah will return soon he will dry every tear.Men will be as brothers the way GOD intended.

  • @geraodorjacinthe those are most enslaved who do not even recognize their own enslavement.....

  • slavery is the always been the plite of capitalisum now and forever time, then free labour, now to the soul destroying act of greed and money making. I am a english man and no we have it better then the majority of the world especaly africa.

  • She is perfection.

  • Well there is some black in her so i guess so

  • Nice n painful song ! ! PEACE

  • Please read "Slave song" by David Dabideen.

  • slavery sucks ass

  • ba boom boom om

  • if you were born in africa then moved to america, your african-american.

if your a descendant of someone who is african and you were born in america your american.

you dont see people saying im irish-american, or german-american, or greek-american.

colored quote from a colored person

  • @pcknights90 Well that's not what they say but a lot of white immigrants still think of themselves as X-American....so the issue is culture...how were you raised?

  • I, as a coloured person ( I use Elijah Muhammad's definition, in other words, I'm white ) advocate teaching true world history. If the white minority of the world would just stop lying and admit to the truth then we could all have, at the least, a world taught by facts instead of propaganda. I don't care if I am white, i didn't choose it, but why cant my children learn than the greatest civilizations on earth were founded by Nubian ( black ) men and women ? The truth is THE Truth !

  • Israelites.

  • You hit it on the head, I'm and Afrikan in amerikka not a color in amerikka!

  • I know a good slave song. (To the tune of umbrella by rhianna)

"When we get chained we get chained together. "

  • Most of the slave owners & profiteers considered themselves good CHRISTIANS. They used Old Testament quotes about slaves to support their cruelty. Same type of Christians now oppose gay & lesbian weddings, using the Bible. Just sayin'.

  • i study slavery and there songs i mean i like this its very nice but if your trying to do something about slaves songs this isnt from the slaves so i mean its very good but yeah

  • This is a brilliant song. Only Sade could make a song about such a horrible topic. And make it soul stirringly beautiful. Once again she sets herself apart from the rest. This is why we love SADE !!!

  • dis my joint, luved it from day one, very socially conscious and makes u wanna get up on yr feet and dance.

  • The worst part about slavery is the lasting legacy of the idea of race. Black, white brown... Why consider ourselves as colors and divisions/cast. Race is a colonial idea. And that idea is used to control and manipulate people by setting them against each other while rich people continue to get rich. We must consider everyone as human rather than seperate races. Breaks your colonial chains! Read up on Buddhism, it'll free you for sure.

  • Comment removed

  • BEcause we need not ever forget what has happened to blackness at the expense of cruel whiteness and cruel blackness alike!

  • If that is the case why continue using the terms that "white" people started. Blackness... first why consider yourself a color? most people of African descent are a fantastic shade of brown. Second by using terms created by colonialists such as, "black" and "white" you perpetuate the colonialists to consider people of non European heritage as a type of colored human rather than just human on equal terms. The cycle must end.

  • It's true many people are slaves in some manner and it's disingenuous to dismiss degree or other qualifiers though.

  • what a crime

  • First of all! Slavery is wrong, unhuman and should never be possible again. Slavery is not just from white to black. Africans themselves used to enslave captured members of other tribes and later sell them to white slavetraders from Holland, England and so on. I don't want to minimize the role of the west in this. I just want to put things back in a somewhat more balans.

  • African slavery was a crime against humanity.

  • We are all slaves.

  • Hear Sade sing the saddest slave song, but look to the future, for those days are gone.

  • Beautiful...

  • The residue of slavery has not left.

  • Slaves werent allowed to learn how to read and write. They had to also make up codes so that their masters or anyone humting heard them singing, they couldn't understand it. It could give them confidence and the determination because if they kept going they knew that someday, they could become free!

  • sade should collab with seal.

  • Yeah! That's a great idea! Could you imagine how awesome that would be?

  • So what if Sade is/ isn't the "daughter of a slave." There seems to be an ignorant belief that africans not descended from enslaved africans are somehow superior to those with direct lineage to the enslaved africans.

I am Nigerian and and sick of all this ignorance. What's with the "fufu" "booboo" comments and the equally appalling "ex slave" comments still doing the rounds! In the words of Bob Marley, "emancipate yourselves from mental slavery, none but ourselves can free our minds...".

  • I think it was a matter of accuracy that it was mentioned more than sense of superiority. Growing up as a Nigerian/Ghanaian myself in the UK it was often 1st generation Africans who were made to feel inferior with African kids often affecting west Indian accents to blend in. Anyway great song, definitely one of the highlights of 'Lovers Rock'.

  • @Jboogie73 im afican/american and i've come to learn that the african race innovated language and early civilization.uncultured boobs are always going to have uninformed comments or jokes about something in which they lack understanding.

  • To londonplayground,

the reason why they did that was to save their own tail. So don't throw it back on the black. Slavery would never have happen if it wasn't for the white slave traders.

  • @Jboogie73 ilove this brother

  • @Jboogie73 That's righteous, bro. The Bob Marley quote says it all.

  • @intrusosgang

word ITS OVER NOW MOVE ONNN NORTH AFRICANS MOVED ON WITH ENSLAVING WHITES DURING BABARY WHITE SLAVERY

    OVER NOW!!!!!!!!! SINCE 1830

  • Emancipate your mind, propaganda and skunk will only confuse you mate. Visited any Jewish graves recently!!??

  • @Jboogie73 The so-call Africans who were slaves were not Africans....

  • @Jboogie73 "What's with the "fufu" "booboo" comments and the equally appalling "ex slave" comments still doing the rounds! "

...because it's easy for ppl to hide behind a computer, ...sadly

  • @Jboogie73 All Black people are sons and daughters of slaves....in America, Africa, the Carribean, Great Britain, Brazil and everywhere else that the crackers ran slaves...we are all family....

  • .....nicely put......!!!!

  • @Trutzblatt You are so wrong!!!

That should be; ......very, very nicely.......put!!!

  • @Jboogie73 True, True, True. Every word speaks volumes! Tell them again!!! :-)

  • Slavery IS the Blackman's holocost. Then & NOW!!

  • @windhoarse00 except its not

  • @windhoarse00 Now? How?

  • @windhoarse00 dude a holocoast is a genocide but mostly of burning, were slaves burned to death most often??? no

  • @levitt20 no they were kept in a small room, with no air, water and food and they were kept there for death,so tell me what is worse.

  • @levitt20 actually if there were any blacks in hitlers sight, he used their backs for the soles of shoes...our ancestors were burned, raped and beaten and then seperated...no other group was....

  • @fosterkidsonly YOUR OWN PEOPLE SOLD OUT THEIR COUNTRYMEN TO THE SLAVE TRADERS.SO MAYBE YOU NEED TO TAKE A HISTORY LESSON !

  • ignorance is the new slavery....money is the new slave master...they trick ppl into believeing they need money over everything...just as they tricked tribes into thinking that the salves there were trading would come back after 8 years.....with out education we may as well took the locks off our risk and put em on our heads...its nolonger a race thing its a pocket thing..they give the poor whites the same books as the poor latinos which is the same as the ones they give poor blacks(FACT)

  • Ok, Look fh236945, I understand where your comming from brotha, But your comment is emotionally triggered.

Sarsquare you also have a valid point, being positivism and fh yours being of a rebelious spirit. A combination of these views is whats needed for action, So that we can LEARN from our past and EDUCATE the future. Um yea GOD is a powerful protector fh, and he knows better than us, what took place back then, but we must UNITE to make sure it NEVER happens AGAIN.

    GOD FORGIVES, CAN U ?

  • God?

  • SHAME SHAME SHAME ON YOU AMERICA for TAKING SLAVES. GOD HAS THE BESt PLAN THOUGH AND AFTER ONLY 50-60 YEARS, A MAN YOU WOULD HAVE MADE PICK COTTON IS RUNNING YOU COUNTRY AS PRESIDENT. AND U NEED PROOF THAT THE 1 TRU GOD EXISTS, Pffffff !

  • Comment removed

  • Just picture the fact that one of the thousands/millions of slave girls stolen from Africa from there mothers was as beautiful as Sade and also possessed her vocals, She would probably be lynched by some white mob before she even could speak. But Glory to the 1 tru God that many years later the hurt of slaves is present in there ancestors. In the words of Malcolm X, WAKE UP, CLEAN UP and STAND UP !

  • This is one of my favorite songs to listen to while I paint. Most of the other songs that I listen to while I paint are Sade songs. I love how she expresses her emotions so passionately. There are few artists who are capable of delivering their feelings in the way that she does.

  • This is simply haunting!!

  • looove this song ,its beautiful.

  • what is this song??? i love sade and found this by chance. sounds great!

  • slave song

  • Please see this Video...Thank U... Peace Be Unto You!!:

    Evolution Is Racism

    watch?v=DwzYPDVErBk

  • En memoire de notre passé

    Jah Love

  • Why is it that none orf the actual slave songs sound anything like this? Not that her stuff should, still, what do you suppose the world nof difference could be accounted for? Commercial kitsch

  • I Like so much. Congratulation SADE

  • Sade Darling You never stop amazing me.

  • this is a kind of slave music..

but the singer isn't a slave, is she?

this music isn't made by slaves, is it?

    like it :)

  • She is the daughter of them. Wikipedia has a fair good review on her. :)

  • She is not and never will be a daughter of a slave!

  • ooooh... why not, is it a shame?

  • There is nothing to look down upon about ancestors being slaves. That is part of the worlds history, and is something to learn about, try to understand, to rejoice that times have evolved from that. It is not shameful!

  • Shame on you, for thinking that slavery is in the past my friend. Let me remind you of ABU GHARIB in Iraq, Now if the US had in fact learnt anything about slavery from the poor african muslim children stolen by them that long ago then this would not occur in todays 21st century "GLOBAL" community. Let me know if u need more evidence that slavery is ALIVE AND WELL & MUST BE DESTROYED AT THE ROOTS. Respect Sade, your a true soul sista, Tupac R.I.P.

  • You are completely missing the point of my posting. I am saying there is no shame in this part of history.

  • I don't understand sarsquare, how someone would give you a -1. Whoever it was, must be ignorant. Who's incompentance wont let them acknowleged, what you were trying to say. Lol good grief. To me what sarsquare said was a positive insight, to not cry. They cried enough during their hard times. None would want us to cry now. Their is still racism out there, but we must all admit that the levels of it have gone down. Now it is more focused on the gays, homosexuals and lesbians. I say Judge no 1

  • Hear hear Beeutewfull, I gave you a +1! I am glad you understand my posting, as most others do too. Stay blessed.

  • U must be White ... And you 2 can Thumbs up each other to the ends of the Earth, doesnt make what you said any more credible. Your one of the people who has excepted the fact that slaves were taken and tortured and worked till death. But u want this history to be forgotten and the slaves to be forgotten aswell and "not cried" for. If this happened and SONGS LIKE THIS did not exist then POOF, You would say that slavery NEVER existed. Im a REALIST not a HIPPIE. Whenever your ready ...

  • Lol i'm not white, and i appreaciate a good reply. I'm Puertorican actually. Read up on our history, theirs a reason why i can relate to this, you have no idea. If you desire to cry, go ahead, if you don't, don't. I myself know it's hard to not get emtional or even angry for what some of our auntsisters had to go through so forth, im not a hippie.. im just myself, a human being who speaks her mind. So, in a way im pretty realistic myself. I think realism is what's gotten me far in my life:)

  • Oh and another thing, i dont comment on these things to get thumbs up. I prefer ppl to let others know the reason of it, communicate.. let ppl know. :)

  • Correct! Not literally 1st generation daughter!! lol Her father is a Yoruba which were enslaved. So i was saying that her father's people know about slavery.

  • I am yoruba mixed race like sade is. How do you know members of her ancestors were taken? The Yoruba race is HUGE. And again I say she is NOT of slave descent. Because if she was.. she would have to have been born to people who were taken away.. . The Adu family were not taken away. I can confidently tell you this.

  • Dude whoa! When I said her people, i mean the Yoruba people. Not the fact that someone of her immediately family may have. I don't want this to turn into something all bad because I was just making a passing statement. We know many Yoruba people were enslaved so inevitable i'm sure family members also.

"Yoruba slaves were sent to British, French, Spanish and Portuguese colonies in the New World, and in a number of these places Yourba traditions survived strongly"

    Please don't take it wrongly

  • how can u have sumthin bad to say about a song that supposed to be positive no matter where she was raised educated or not that doesn't change the blood running through our/her veins we have the right to speak about our ancestors and unless you were literally there in her life you Don't know!and even if she isn't doesn't mean she can't sing about the pain of slavery or maybe she 's tryn to sing from their shoes slavery occured everywhere and yes some slaves

    did get to return home!!!!

  • I don't know why you got a thumbs down. You're correct. I really believe this song is about slavery in general and not just limited to the transatlantic trade. As people have pointed out slavery exists in some form or the other today so it's a universal message.

  • I already loved sade but know i am a super fan

    wow!

  • Comment removed

  • Just because you may feel shameful over our history doesn't mean we have too.
