I think he just got greedy in the situation and tried to force the pot his way without really thinking it through a lot. he saw like 6 million chips sitting in the pot and tried a power move thinking that moon would probably fold since it was for most of his chips and was right before the final table.
"I think people underestimate how many times I’m getting it in as a big favorite when he can’t get away from trips or possibly even worse." So which is it? Was it a bluff or a value bet?? contradictions ftl!!
yeah i agree with everyone here .... kopp is an idiot i dont know how he made it that far with a theory like that ... i dont think anyone in that position will fold a nut flush despite a paired board cuz more than likely a person who shoves 100 big blinds like that is bluffing a big hand ... bad move kopp u may never get this close to winning the main event again!
i agree with 10crow, billy kopp is a donk and also... why is he raising preflop with 5 3 of diamonds with 12 people left? Does he not desire to make it to final table? If I had 5 3 of diamonds and 3 people needed to be knocked out, I would just sit out and go get some food somewhere and let three people knock each other out.
lol what an idiot, if his only read is that darvin moon was an amatuer than trying to "Bluff" him off the nut flush will almost NEver work, i think he reallly didnt have any idea where moon was in the hand and just got carried away.
Kopp's explanation is all good until Moon check raises him no the turn. He should have put Moon on a full house or flush (which would no doubt be higher than his flush) and just called or folded. Sure, he'd have lost a lot of committed chips but he'd still be there!
I think he was giving a Kopp out =)) ... I totally agree. Even a high caliber pro would check raise him on that situation and call his all in, although they might be in the think tank longer. He got outplayed and tried to make excuses... fold equity only works if you know there's a higher likelihood of your opponent folding.
Kopp is so full of it. He's trying to save face by saying his intention was to bluff a full boat with a huge bet on the turn. "Any skilled player would have folded a nut flush to that bet". What gives it away, though, is Kopp's reaction when Moon calls him. Kopp stands up and triumphantly tosses his cards across the table, ready to celebrate victory. When he sees the bad news, it's like he is caught red-handed - abject horror. Obviously, Kopp wasn't bluffing - he thought he had the winning hand.
I agree- how was he supposed to know Moon had the higher flush? Not to say that he made a big mistake, but if you flop a flush, you expect to have something.
wow, kopp is blaming moon for not folding saying moon should have expected kopp to have a full house. moon was right cause why would kopp raise preflop with a two.
thats really really really stupid!! first think about it... only reason you went all in is because first you didnt think moon was calling. A sick call is when you get a read and make a great call. Donkey call wtf you calling?? see moon recognize that you might go allin thats what he wated from the start.
HE played you like a sucka. see he recognize that there was 12 players and some players are going to play tight but others will take this as advantage and push people around. See this is why he called and raised turn because he told him self im gonna make it seen as i dont have much. The way he played it. You got careless and thats why u lost. after you went all in. He was thinking there is no way he could have full house because he wouldnt go all in there.
Moon can play. He made it seen like he was just gettting cards but he knows how to play em and get max value. You didnt respect Moons re raise and you though you could push the big stack??. Thats really stupid only reason is because you got cocky. Scotty Nguyen, the same thing happend to him but he had the balls to say yea i got cocky and i got beaten.... he almost cried too in the interview too.
I do not agree with Kopp you could check call with a set and wait for the turncard. You do not wanna risk to many chips at this time.
On the other hand I do not like Moons play either. I thought he should raise the flop and the the call like Kopp said was questionable. Maybe he felt comitted to the pot
If you watch his elimination he flips over the 53s like it's the best hand - he says in the interview that he didn't want a call. But he didn't even flinch when moon called! I suck and couldn't fold but I'd check back the turn at the very least and reevalutate on the river...

The classic case of pros THINKING TOO MUCH! TOO MUCH book "learnin" and scouting can mess ya up, Especially, in tournaments. "Blah ,blah, blah"

you can't play a hand like that when you have no redraws...if you're wrong, you're drawing dead.

You're spot on bro. The end result is that Kopp played 1 hand awful, and it cost him all of his chips.

Sorry, I should say DIDN'T make a big mistake. My bad.

If Moon wins the Main Event, he should send a thank you card to Kopp. It's not everyday someone just hands you 20 million in chips.

Moon could have tried to slow play. As Lon McEachern said, if Darvin called and was wrong, he would have basically been the short stack.

Why doesn't he ask himself the question: Does Moon think I'll be playing a Full House this way?
