An everyday item (often made of plastic is moved/used by a human in an unusual way and (often) makes a sound. Sometimes i feel worried because the item might get scratched or is broken.
Ths somehow reminds me of product designers who test and optimize the sounds of electric shavers or car doors.
this is as collegehumor says THE most strangely satisfying thing to watch, as im watching, i'm wanting some things to happen, suprised by others, and overall completely satisfied overall
The way you did the things was unnatural which spoiles it. Like you don't touch the wellington boots in a random way like its meant to be, you tch it in a way thats like you've just turned the camera on, and you've decided to touch a wellington boot for this film with random things in it. Its like the harry potter films where instead of seeing a character portrayed by emma watson, your seeing emma watson trying to portray a character because she dosn't know how to fully act.
@tomfoolery57 I think the way all the actions how here are obviously deliberate adds to the overall "eeriness" of the piece, in that after watching it for a while you start to get a tingling sense of child-like experimentation, very basic sensations then arise in your head, kind of like sesame-street-level stimulation.
This is a fun project. I like the playful experimentation. I want to see more objects interacting with each other like the toilet paper and fan combo. I thought the food inserts were building anticipation for some spectacular grand finale of dropping food off a building or something similar, so the ending was a bit anticlimactic. I still thought it was great overall.
Movment and energy. The constant depiction of humans and things moving stood out. Transfer of energy from one item to another, potential and kinetic, with the film showing the constant dynamic of such movement and use of energy. In a way the depiction of constant movement of energy transfers over to the viewer. Seeing the short film pushes the viewer themselves into action, it is thus inspiring in that regard.
it is the food i ate when i was making this video in taipei. 8 selected foods from 8 days in taipei. original installation in the museum showed up with 8 monitors with 8 different parts from this single version. actually i made this single screen one after the show. you can catch up the installation view from my website if you like.
It's interesting how alot of things seem purposely color coordinated. 1:59 - his watch. 2:47 - the car emblem and his shirt. 4:28 - The sign above the funnel. Intentional or not, its still pretty interesting.
Probably because the stuff in the video is doing exactly what you expect it to do (well, except they're obviously not being used for their everyday function) thus causing some sense of calmness and satisfaction.
Then again, I know fuck all about psychology so ignore my pseudo-intellectual analysis.
well now, its amazing seing a superflat representation of things being themselves. This videos show how painstakingly redundant existance is with itself, issnes is and the beauty of things doing exactly what they do. It is so flat it isnt even trying to be art, which is of course one of the most artsy things you can do.
I'm really impressed by this. I love how the simplicity in the beginning builds up to this overwhelming sensation of the tactile and the erotic in such everyday objects - by the end of the video I feel like the world is my playground and I remember the way I used to view things as a child. There's so much to be said about this - really excellent work...
