  • so there's my husband at 0:28. lol... wish. and yes, this IS the best revenge sequence. from one of my favourite movies on the planet. with one of the most crushable characters for me ever conceived. fucking max fischer. hot as hell.

  • Best movie ever made in Texas and shows a side of the state rarely seen in movies.

BTW all those buildings seen from Blume's window are not downtown. That's the Texas Medical Center, a complex of hospitals and research centers as big as downtown Denver.

  • Even better than "Revenge of the Sith" :)

  • haha the guy pulling the cart is my best friend's dad.

  • WHY IS THE STUDIO VERSION OF THE SONG USED ON THE SPANISH VERSION OF THE FILM ...AND THE LIVE AT LEEDS VERSION USED ON THE AMERICAN ? ? ? ?

  • @CatorsCinema I think this is the version from the Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus actually...but whatever, both great incarnations of the song.

  • Comment removed

  • @Quarkt

your right, I just listened to both versions to compare, and it is the Circus version.

MY GOD I'm ashamed of my self as a fan

  • @CatorsCinema Ha, it's ok. I've probably watched my old ratty VHS of the Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus about a million times so I'm quite familiar with it.

  • Max Fischer should be in Inglourious Basterds with that getup!

  • Speaking as a heterosexual male, at 00:32, Max is the sexiest thing in the world. I want a moment where I can make that face.

  • watch?v=-hQel3noQeI

    Amazing!!!!!!

  • Wes Anderson is the king of picking the perfect songs.

  • max leaving the elevator in slow motion to the Who. so simple. so brilliant.

  • Ahaha, Herman running over Max's bike is the funniest thing. I love how casually he holds the cutters as he walks up to it.

  • Mr. LittleJeans knows what's goin' on...

  • Bill Murray. Badass.

  • You nedd the line.." I don't think that's such a great idea, Max".

  • Sup Reddit.

  • This is one of my favorite things in the world ever!

  • @Bearinabearsuit bahahaha totally!

  • I love the scene when he is stepping out from the elevator!

  • I like how even in their hatred they are perfect friends. Bill Murray's facial expression says "Hey actually that's pretty funny... still though I got stung by bees so I'll outdo him"

  • Max Fischer has the same glasses of Patrick Bateman in the Business Card scene.

  • \m/

  • The Royal Tenenbaums had the best depiction of an emotional breakdown in a movie. Rushmore has the best depiction of revenge in a movie.

  • This isn't fair...Bill Murray and the Who! That's all Wes Anderson does, take great songs and put them in a certain order and have famous faces do snarky things. An unbeatable formula.

  • The song is so hilarious for the scene!!

  • love this movie. so glad this clip was on here

  • Another genius scene by Wes Anderson.

  • Bill Murray is great at everything he does, especially when he stars in a Wes Anderson movie.

  • lol, I love how he adds "oval face"

  • it's fantastic

  • don't worry, bill murry.

  • Bill Murray's a f-cking genius... love that smile that creeps over his face around :18-:25... we all know that weird feeling: getting really pissed off, and ready for war with someone... it's supposed to be a bad feeling, and it kind of is--but strangely, when you realize IT'S WAR, you so suddenly feel glad, even THRILLED to dive into revenge...

  • badass

  • Best Montage of the 20th Century. Period.

  • I know it's Pete Townshend, but it always sounds to me like Bill Murray's singing "A Quick One," which makes the scene all the more funny.

  • Oh, Jason. *Sigh*

    I ache for him sexually.

  • @Elfinesmom thats not creepy at all...

  • i always thought he was too cute ;) great movie.. i remember watching it in the theatre

  • i lost it watching this move. You cannot do this in real life for sure.

  • great song + great scene = great movie

  • looks way to awesome as he sticks his gum on the wall. just great

  • My brother in law and I are doing the ultimate wes anderson playlist, and putting our chosen tracks over the ones in the movie. fun times.

  • i think this version is from the who live @ leeds. in my opinion this is a better version.

"these are O.R scrubs." "O-R they?"

  • @colmas Its from the rolling stones rock and roll circus! good buzz

  • 1:04 to 1:24 - LOL!! XD

  • Classic.

  • thats the best.

  • this is my fav scene =)

  • "oval face"

  • The best scene in the movie in my opinion. The music matches it so perfectly. Wes Anderson definitely knows how to use music in a movie.

  • too bad its like 2 Frames Per Second

  • @Givicencio I thought it was MY system running slow.

  • I forgive you =)

  • I own the Rushmore DVD and Soundtrack and the version of the song in this clip sounds like the version recorded at the Rolling Stones Rock n' Roll Circus in 1968, which is not the version that Wes Anderson put on the original soundtrack. I'll have to double check the DVD to make sure, but something tells me that whoever made this video put in a different version of the song. I like the Rock n' Roll Circus version better myself, actually.

  • @pglewis25 agreed...this version is not from the soundtrack

  • @romerito5 that may be true, but it is the version in the actual movie.

  • @pglewis25 Yep, watch?v=rF-dFOPuFjc 4:44

  • max reminds me so much of myself.

  • I am so in love with Max Fischer.

  • max is rad.

  • Mr. Littlejeans @ 1:22 is the best!!

  • I forgot all about this. Have to rent it again.

I think Wes could be my favorite director.

  • great scene/music

  • Killer movie. A lot of great songs(Like this one) in the soundtrack.

  • max is a badass

  • So.. Max getting off of the lift is the sexiest thing I have ever seen. HE is the sexiest thing I have ever seen.

  • @DoctorCanRhyme COMPLETELY AGREE!

  • @DoctorCanRhyme omg, yes. It may be that shot alone that sparked my life long obsessive crush on him.

  • @DoctorCanRhyme Hahaha I know what you mean....... The whole gum chewing shtick is brilliantly played out by Jason. Team Max all the way!

  • @DoctorCanRhyme I KNOW! He looks EXACTLY like Charlie Sheen in Ferris Bueller.

  • @DoctorCanRhyme amen to that!!

  • @DoctorCanRhyme agree. 200%

  • You are forgiven.

  • love this song..is it the who?

  • My favorite part of the movie. :) I love it.

  • i fucking adore this movie. max fischer is a god.

  • one of the best sequences he's ever done

  • Max Fischer looks like SYLAR

  • Max Fischer is the greatest film character in the history of comedy

  • love it when he's cuffed and being escorted out by the cops. bad-fucking-ass

  • I think we all secretly want to be Max Fischer at that point.

    Truly bad-fucking-ass.

  • I wish I was Max Fischer....

  • Dang! Dang! Dang! You are forgiven!

I want to be Max Fischer!

  • 0:25 - 0:50

    <3

  • The little old man at 1:22 is the best!!!

  • i think the oldboy revenge beats this

  • Ahaha, yeah. Its so crazy how they have a really explicit sex scene in that film and then you find out their relationship. So wrong.

  • max is so badass

  • The best part is the little smirk on Bill Murrays face the half second he realizes it was Max.

  • ezekielkinkade44 - Agree! The way Sophia used Bill in this, AND his acting . . . and , let's face it - perfect casting (and not JUST Bill Murray), is part of what make this such an amazing piece of cinema. An inspired film - a GREAT film, any way you look at it.

  • Thank god that the copyrighting bastards of YouTube haven't castrated this.

  • sure i can. it's a small clip of a full length movie. we should be deprived of that?

  • @RingoWinfrey We can thank record companies for that. Not YouTube.

  • Wes makes great use of music in his films. I love how at the end of this movie he uses "Oh La La" by the Faces.

  • shit, I meant "Ooh La La"

  • One of the thing I like most about Anderson/Wilson films is the songs they choose to put in them.Brilliant!

  • Agree LyndaHudson & enwurds. Brilliant isn't an overstatement here at all. Discovered The Creation (YES!) watching this - one of my all-time favorite films. I also point this movie out to people who are critical of the modern film as not standing up to the Classic films of the past. Throw in Tarantino, the Coens, Scorsese, Spike Lee, Ang Lee. Nuff said? Not that I don't LOVE the "Classic's", too - the 30's & 40's birthed many of my all-time favorites. Thanks 4 sharing KB. .

  • don't forget Sophia Coppola, Spike Jonze, Michel Gondry, and Guillermo Del Toro (i mean, the Hell Boy movies were meh, but Pan's Labryinth was genius)

  • ...and Kubrick is king

  • OK. Should I be concerned that this is now one of my 6 year old son's favourite clips? Of course he just howls with laughter at the bees, but he listens to the whole thing. Repeatedly. I think I'm kinda proud. I don't know if it makes any difference, but he's autistic and perhpas he sees things in this that most 6 year olds would miss. What I wouldn't give to get inside his head just for one day.

  • That is awesome dude!

  • i also watch this clip repeatedly

  • You're all forgiven.

  • Ha Ha - Yup, we know . . . Thanks for saying , anyway - Wes inspires it!

  • I love Wes Anderson, I have all his films. This is my favourite scene from Rushmore. 'Oval Face', Brilliant.

  • Yes, thanks for posting this. I love Wes too and this film will always be my favorite of his. Best Revenge Sequence sums it up pretty well.

  • One more thing: Max is riding a girl's bike when he goes back to Blume's factory. Great attention to detail as usual from Wes.

  • That adds a whole new dimension: maybe it's his dead mother's bike? MAKES YA THINK

  • hey, that does make me think...

  • LOVE this Movie! One of the best movies I've ever seen. This scene gives that same emotional/intellectual tickle as a favorite Shakespeare passage, Martha Graham dance sequence, great Coltrane or Who song. I've seen this many times, and it never fails to please. Thanks for sharing this, kesterbrad.

  • wtf? I watched this vid some months ago, and it was in great quality, but all of a sudden, the fps is horribly low...

  • I always loved the slow motion part where he sticks his gum to the side of the wall.

  • This music helps make this scene one of the best in the movie....Great movie + Great music by The Who.

  • 0:25 - 0:48

Probably the most badass footage that has ever existed.

  • LOL slow-mo beekeeper...what a badass :]

  • The song is Cello. It's really hard to find though. I heard they wrote it because they couldn't afford a cello player. (i.e. the "dangs" in the beginning)

A quick one while he's away begins with "Her mans' been gone.."

  • No, This is A Quick One. It's on the soundtrack. This isn't the beginning of the song, its actually the last part of the song.

  • The song is actually called; A quick one while he's away by the who.

  • My fav scene in this movie!

  • 'About five foot three, 112, black hair, glasses...oval face.'

  • yes!

  • It was filmed at a school 2 blocks from my own, and the white and seagreen one is Lamar High School. hahaha.

    Filmed in HOUSTON :D

  • I love this movie. Will always be Wes Anderson's best.

  • post the movie

  • I love that the "You are Forgiven" chorus is really the opposite of what's going on here and that the context of adultery in the song puts the relationship between the Max and Bill Murray's character into a whole new light. Also kick ass song. Kick ass movie.

  • Oval face..

  • Excellent movie!!

Murray shouldve AT LEAST recieved an Academy Award Nomination.

  • I like the slow-motion at 0026-0040 .I bought this soundtrack (20 songs in the album)but I couldnt fuxking find this song so I burned this soundtrack. Finally I found it here

  • Such a bad ass song

  • I agree, just an amazing scene. Perfect in every way

  • You are forgiven

  • Anyone else think he looks like a young Sam Rockwell. Especially in this scene. One of the funniest movies I've ever seen.

  • 0:26 ~ 0:45 is unbelieveably hot.

  • Dude. My thoughts exactly when I first saw this scene. Sighhh. Max Fischer/Jason Schwartzman

Rushmore just has to be one of the friggin coolest movies ever created. GENIUS in every sense of the word.

  • Absolutely. Fucking love this movie.

  • If Jason had bigger eyes he would look a little like Moonie

  • definitely! plus Max, i mean Jason, played drums in Phantom Planet.

  • It's a five parts song, and it's the last...

  • anche io ho postato questo video,ma il mio non è distorto.

  • What a great movie. One thing people need to remember though... while Wes Anderson directed it, it was Mark Mothersbaugh that did the soundtrack.

  • I agree with PhasersOnFunky

    he looks so unbelievably sexy

  • i get shivers from this scene. very few things in the movies are this badass.

  • That slow motion shot of Max leaving the elevator is genius.

  • black hair. glasses. oval face.

love. love. love this song and film.

all you wes naysayers out there...you are forgiven.

  • And how long will you be staying with us, sir?

Indefinitely. I'm being sued for divorce.

    Very good, sir.

Where is the pool? I may want to take a swim after I hit the bar.-- I love this movie and all Anderson/Wilson movies. This one is underrated. Everyone should see it!

    That's a coincidence. Harvard's my safety.

  • i don't know darjeeling and zizzou was kind of iffy

  • darjeeling was a serious disappointment.

but Rushmore is outstanding. Absolutely my favorite. <3

  • The Darjeeling Limited was excellent. I saw it with my brother and perhaps that made the difference.

  • i love this movie

i like all Wes Anderson movies

  • It's a movement in a 9 part medley called "A Quick one While He's Away." This movement is called "Forgiven"

  • sorry, You are forgiven

  • A Quick One While He's Away.

  • yeah man i know he is just a great director.

  • I just like Wes Anderson's films because I think they're funny, entertaining, touching, and witty. It has nothing to do with me feeling 'superior' as I watch them. In fact there's plenty of mindless Hollywood comedies that I love as well.

  • Ohhhhhhh right, this film rules.

  • That Bentley is a magnificent motor.

  • that it is my friend. i would have gone bollox if they crashed it during this scene.

  • ughh i know.. the first time i saw this movie i was like NOOOO xD lol bbut then alas it was saved xP anything bill murray drives is the sh1t anyway <3

but this is an especially fine vehicle ^.-

  • Hey dudeb23. I feel sorry for how big a fuck you are. Thanks for the laugh though!

  • go dudeb23. The intellectual elite has called a fatwa upon you, don't give up.

  • jasonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn you are hot

  • if this is your attempt to sound insightful you come off as more of a douche than anything else

  • dudeb is using big words to make himself feel good. your mum gave me a handjob

  • anderson films require a cetain taste

a cetain taste you cleary don't have. and i expect you to think his movies are boring

but this bullshit you make up to sound smart

    come on

  • Man, how in the hell did you come to that conclusion? Do you realize that your "claim" actually paints you out to be more of the uninformed, disenfranchised wanna-be intellectual that you so DESPERATELY wish to attack? You have so little evidence to back up your statements you might as well say the film is racist as well. So, when exactly is your little cinematic October revolution going to occur, Vanya? Because I don't wanna miss it when I go on a beer run. That shit will be laugh city.

  • Jesus. This might be the best thing anybody has ever written on youtube. Haha. I loved it! Thanks.

  • aspect ratio is totally wrong.

  • Yeah, aspect ratio...totally. Like wow.

  • agreed, it's bothered me for months.

  • my favorite movie of all time . . . i remember going to see this movie and walking out thinking "that was fucking great" . . . and hearing people say that was the worst movie they had ever seen . . . same thing happened with royal tenenbaums . . . i guess people like their cookie-cutter hollywood films

  • No, they're just stupid.

  • can anyone tell me where i can watch this movie online

    free

  • this is one of those movies that are worth paying to see

  • amen

  • This is the BEST sequence EVER!!! I can watch it a million times and never get tired of it. Thanks!
