Police officers in Canada get payed more than that, at your first rank you get around 46,000 and within 3 to 4 years at that rank you can be making 76,000.

It goes up further than 45,000 a year for officer. I know that San bernardino sheriff starts at about 48,000 a year. It goes up with rank. a sergeant probably makes about 60,000 id say. A lietenant makes about 70,000 a captain makes 80,000 and the Chief makes 100,000 or more i bet.

then go straight a federal agency ....work there for about 5 yrs and then transfer to the local department in your city....and you wont have to patrol!

@A1V1Productions Any career requires you to pay your dues. Start as a grunt, work hard for meager/moderate pay. After that, then you make the big bucks. Just pick something you really want to do and are willing to stick with.
