  • I'm getting In all the parts for my first build. I'm also going to be using a Z68XP-UD4 motherboard with a CoolerMaster V8 and a i7 2600k overclocked to 4.0GHZ. My qwstion is are you able to use all 4 ram slot or does the V8 get In the way and only allow u to use 2 of your 4 slots? Thanks for any help.

  • @mrenuff You should be able to fit all the normal sized ram. If it has a crazy tall heat spreader like Rip Jaws or something super tall then it won't fit I think. You can try turning the V8 90 degrees to free up a few millimeters but not much difference in North/South vs East/West installation orientation on the cooler. Hope it helps, I guess you will find out when it comes. If you don't need the extra ram I recommend skipping and just getting (2x2GB).

  • oh yes she is a beauty

  • @wilfredotour3 Thanks for watching!

  • There are some benchmarks suggesting the 2500k with a 53% increase in performance over the 1100T.

  • @muffemod Keeping in mind the 9000000000% price difference though

  • Hello, can you help me? I am currently planning on buying a new rig for gaming. I really want something future-proof, for at least 2 years, I'm planning on getting an HD 6950 graphics card, but I'm confused on which CPU I should get, is the AMD Phenom II x6 a good choice? It's really great in price for it's caliber. Please help, should I get the Phenom or the i2500k for example? LIke I said, I need something future-proof. Thanks in advance!

  • @Hunterbgpz I have a Phenom X6 1100T and it rocks everything. Alot of people will say to get a i5 2600k or 2500k. Really just depends on what you're willing to spend. Intel is far more expensive with only slightly better performance

  • @Spoojjy

Yes, that's what I've observed too. The Intel's counterpart to the Phenom II x6 is by far more expensive, while offering not that big of a boost. I've made my mind, I'm going for the AMD, thanks for your help, I really appreciate it!

  • @Hunterbgpz My motherboard died after just six days. RMA'd back to Newegg for refund. The 1100T is going on eBay. I was able to scoop up an 1155 Gigabyte motherboard for cheap on eBay and the 2500k from Microcenter for $60 less than the AMD mobo/cpu combo.

The 2500k retails now for $30 cheaper than the 1100T at Microcenter! As far as price to performance the 2500k wipes the floor with AMD's flagship 1100T in this instance. AMD really has nothing going for it now; they muffed up big time.

  • @Hunterbgpz Glad to help. People will tell you alot that a 2500k will destroy an 1100T, which in gaming is probably true. Intel's architecture IS much better, but if you want to do multi tasking, and want a lower price (generally), then the 1100T is the best option. I can Alt-Tab between Crysis, Metro 2033, and NFS without going over 80% load. Also AMD has the advantage of some pretty low temperatures. So you won't need an aftermarket cooler. My 1100T maxes at 46c at full load for 3 hours

  • @Spoojjy Yep heavy multithreaded stuff mean more cores then of course the 1100T will overtake the 2500k. Having owned both I like both of them. I just wish AMD would try to step up their game against Intel.

  • @Spoojjy

Hmm, they're priced exactly the same here in Bulgaria - 200 euro each. I heard that the AMD shuts down when it reaches a certain temperature. I'm really confused, because I think that the Intel will not be as future proof, due to the lower number of cores. How's overclocking btw?

  • @Hunterbgpz Both overclock well with aftermarket coolers.

  • @Hunterbgpz You can set the temperature at which your computer will shut down in the BIOS. It's a safety feature. If they're about the same price then it's basically a decision between multi-tasking performance and gaming performance. The 1100T will play games fine, but the 2500K will do it a bit better. Most games only run on 2 or 4 cores anyway. If you just want to play games, get the 2500K, ti will be around for a while. My 1100T overclocks to 4GHz on the stock cooler without overheating.
