  • hi sheba...i was wondering if i could use store-bought tortillas instead of making chapati at home....?

  • @yeuxreveur - you can try those but the taste is quiet different. Nothing like fresh smell of cooked roti.

  • I was calling you ... why didn't u pick up lmao

  • Thank you, very helpful! I'm tired of paying high prices for good bread, so why not make fresh bread at home!?

Who is helping you with the video? A son, or daughter, or husband? Who is working the camera, and doing the editing? I want to make some videos, too!

(its a bit unhealthy but spread butter over the hot roti for a treat, its good)

  • I have a detail video on how to make dough for Roti. Watch that may be that would help.

No you do not knead the dough for a long time .

  • do you have to knead the dough by hand after taking it out of the food processor? If not, then how long do you process it in the food processor. I've been told you have to knead the dough for a long time to get good roti.

  • lol u seem like a very interesting person hehe thankz for the roti video

  • thanks I wish I would have found this a couple years ago when I was learning. lol!! but you need to give a receipe to the ones who dont know!

  • LOL... and I dont care if the roti's aren't perfectly round.. the fact that I can atleast make a roti is more than enough! :D

    Good job, Sheeba!

  • lol!!!

  • that's not a rolling pin, it's a bellna. you don't make round thingy's you make a thing called Loi. a skillet??? we use a thing called a Tawa. after your done you're supposed to clap the roti, that's why india roti is soo hard. clapping the roti "mek it soff an nice"

  • what the hell??? ayodese nah noe roti okay....leave the roti to the west indies....indian people don't know roti n e more

  • Lmaoo My mom talks jus like you HAHA

  • lol....are you west indian? what r u ? guyanese...trini....jamaican.... i just concluded to one thing....if roti came from india.....how come the indians that leftindia cook it better??? i think some where along the road, the people who left for the west indies and malaysia and fiji etc learned something.....or indians from india just lost something cause our roti is really really good, plus we have a huge variety :P

    RASS!!! (my parents are guyanese)

  • lmao, u so true!!!!!!!!!!

  • I have never seen any bread type of item cooked that way before, tt was surprising.

This is awesome and real home cooking Indian style, I wish I had the receipe. I have a gas stove and would love to make it. Then I could watch the kids faces when they puff up from the steam. AWESOME video!

  • I have another video showing how to make the dough for Roti. The recipe is out there on that video.

I am happy that you liked it.

  • do you aways make uneven rotis?? like not round and so fourth? just asking..no offence dear.....and wot does your husband say to them????

  • No offence taken. Since I made that video over one year back my Roti skills have improved - My husband " map of different countries are integrating into the world globe".

  • hmm y do u make 2 roti video?

  • There were requests to combine the dough and roti videos so that it was all in one. So I combined the two for the sake of those viewers who wanted to download only one to save space.

Thank you for being so observant.

  • I dont have gas flame stove, Will this work on electric.? also, when you are rolling the dough it shld be cold?

  • Yes the dough should be cold preferably chilled. Electrict stove should work but you may have to be extra careful so as not to burn the roti. Thank you for asking.

  • Is this a "Best of Sheba" episode? :-0
