Its not just the bad press that this causes for a week or two, but simple things like going to the hospital with a sick child and having to wait 6 hours because a bunch of students drank to much or have a little bit of pepper spray in their eye...lol

How about next year it starts in Dunedin and finishes in Chch? then see how they feel about their city getting the bad press.

My small town? Sweet thing to assume bro, you wouldn't know where I live, or study. In my experience every good party involves something getting damaged or broken, people getting trashed and generally having a good time, in my mind this is an example of the ultimate party, and barely any of the thousands of people are hospitalised! fuck any student with a pulse has been to house parties where more people have been hurt compared to the proportion there.

The undie 500 is sold as the worst event ever, but there is alot of goodwill involved in customising a car with friends etc. I dont see that very many people are hurt at this event worse then any big party. Things like this are what enforces Dunedin as a student city and great place to study. Its pretty high and mighty of you to bag these people, but im willing to bet uve done some stupid shit aswell in the past.

Its a shame that the media likes to show whatever gets the most viewers. Its just the actions of a few individuals yet that behaviour automatically gets asociated with all us students. Its a shame that the media will only focus on the downside of this event and not the highlights. If the media gave less atteintion to the misbehavors they would misbehave less because they wouldnt be getting the attention like they want.
