I grew up hearing about this bombing, and the world controversy about it.. My father was in a U.S. observation post on Mt. Trocchia on the other side of the valley and saw it all, from beginning to end. If not in the monastery itself, the German troops were very close to it and destroyed an immense number of allied troops from that vantage point. The Gustav line was impregnable and stayed that way for 3 more months after the bombing. The whole 5 months at Monte Cassino were brutal for everyone.
this has been edited by the sepos to reduce hostile reactions. All direct impacts causeing structural damage have been removed. They think everyones stupid.
I bet maybe one or two germans was taking a nap in there when some us soldiers took notice, and hell broke loose. You can see that stuff today in Afgehnistan. One guy shoots his ak and hellfires and artillery flies away for 1 hour.
@GlAsSaRm you know this ain't right, allies were desperate because they couldn't break through the gustav line. and get rome in time ( it was costing a large number of lives) however i reckon that german forces used that buildings for their purposes. maybe allies made terrible mistakes during the war, but probably none of us would do better
@hans421 Secondly i think you should consider the fact that Hitler was an occultist and therefore had no love of the church, started the whole of the second world war anyway and furthermore was wholly disrespectful to anyone who wasn't aryan and in his dark belief thought that his reason was enough to exterminate entire populations living in their OWN countries and thus your argument is completely devoid of any reason
Very sad. The destruction of this unique, grand, historic monastry was one of THE tragic mistakes made by the Allied Forces in WW2. Though understandable at the time .. the historical record & detailed analysis of the facts as they existed - without the wonderful gift of hindsight - makes this clear .. it nonetheless remains true that the German Forces were not in occupation of the building prior to its destruction. It shows, I think, yet again, the utter futility & tragedy of armed conflict.
Wow, what BS. Have any of you even been there? I have, and you have to honor all soldiers who endured this horrific scene, both sides, and you cannot apply any logic in hindsight. The Abbey was key to the Gustav line, and the Allies couldn't get past without taking it out. Read Matthew Parkers' book and learn, my friends, the battle was very sad. This solemn catastrophe should unite we sons and grandsons, not divide us.
The German paratroopers at least had the decency to stay out of the monastery, out of pure respect, something that could apparently not be expected from American and British catholic-haters. I'm surprised they didn't build a mcDonalds restaurant on top of the mountain. Thank you, Bank of England, for organizing another fine messy war, that's what you people are good at, nothing else.
That's a rather specific date for white extinction.
I also never thought I'd be accused of being brainwashed by WW2 Allied propaganda, they haven't put much new stuff out recently so I figured we were safe. Thanks for warning me though!
Another thing: The Germans are not to be blamed the Abby's destruction. They only positioned themselves at a high point of a valley with the only ancient, stone building on it for a camp meeting they were having. They were attacked by the allies while they were having this camp meeting, singing songs and working out personal demons during confessions with the priests. Those Allies!
Totally. The Germans, who systematically killed a race of people through nearly every imaginable way, waged war from this Mt, didn't use the Abby in any way for protection, nor did they lead the Allies to believe they were during months of war, because they were honest. It true. They were murdering Jews at the time & couldn't have been there, or they were rescuing Art & priests. Yet not far away the retreating Grmn army burned the Roman Nemi ship that was on display, because they loved art.
America did not bother to bomb any concentration camp. But they bombed an important monastery of catholic faith with all the monks in it. For no military reason. God bless America
They should have bombed a concentration camp. I get it. The bombing of prisoners would have freed them. Right. I can hear the command, "Hey boys fire on those wooden buildings over there. Those are prisoner quarters and we need to get them out of there! Fire on the fence with those precision guided bombs too so people can run away if they're not killed by our precision guided bombs. Make it happen boys!" God Bless America.
In fact, the Germans had abandoned this abbey of Monte Cassino, and even evacuated most monks and the abbot, and most art work from this 6th century founded historical site, to save it. Kesselring did this. The Allies probably did not care, and maybe some anti-Catholic sentiments also played a role. Monte Cassino was the symbol of Christian European history, its origin, and of Christendom as such. Maybe they hated this? After destruction however, the Nazis used the ruins to fight from!
If you think it was the Jews attacking the Germans, I don't know what history documents you were reading. The Jewish people were captured and imprisoned just for being Jewish... you think it was ALLIED lust that invoked that? It became a territory war the very moment Germany declared invasion of Poland. The nations have their integrity, so they DON'T want to fall under the rule of another, which is why it ever became a war at all. THAT is war. THAT is defense for our nationalities. THAT is WWII.
are you trying to tell me that persecution of jews during world war II is over rated and not a big deal? you must be some kind of stupid to think that. and its "judaism" not "Jewism" dumb fuck
Rubbish to the claim it was a Jewish idea to bomb the the Abbey. Most of the allies side are Christian/Catholic. It was definately unecessary. But to blame it on Jews..yea nice one. I see what dictator you support

I honor the German paratrooper's impeccable behaviour in regards to this battle, they acted like real soldiers, and i am once again shocked by the lust for destruction of the Allied American/Jewish side. I can only explain this by the hate they carry towards the Roman Catholic Church and Christian Tradition. This beautiful monastery was founded by Saint Benedict, and was a major European cultural heritage. Shame on you, Harry, and shame on your family's name.
and not only that but as they retreated & saw the slaughter of innocent children & women and old people in the villages committed by the 'goumiers' , they lost their lives trying to help them ...
Tell that to my great uncle who was almost murdered when temporarily captured by German Para's during this battle. He was lucky even not to get tortured like many others.
And there's plenty more stories of German Para Brutality from this battle and Crete and the Mareth line. They were just ruthless murdering brutes just like all German Elites...
@hans421 Then Hans, why did the Germans use this position as a fortification or a base? If the Germans wanted to preserve the monatery then they should not have used it as a base.... isnt that patently obvious! So really if anyone was in disrespect to the church it was the Axis! They used a sacred place as an army barracks.. in essence they brought the battle there... not the allies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Without the holocaust mythology that they have fabricated, the All-lies would be exposed as the moral degenerates that they are.

What may be a subject for conjecture are the reported numbers who died in the holocaust.

this war was not about 'jewism' ..
it was about communism ..
& begins with the bolshevik revolution ...
i wish that the 'jews' would stop trying to 'monopolize' the horror & suffering ..
one would think they were the ONLY ones persecuted ...
it's becoming annoying really ....
