  • How did you get to the top of the Cup after you converted to Polygons 3:50

  • Thanx Roky, I be sure to try it out.

    You made it look easy.

  • Is this only for mac?

  • @BareBoneRyan yeah

  • @BareBoneRyan blender is just like it

  • @MAGIC2366 This is much simpler than blender.

  • i cant find a single video demonstrating the animating

  • Blender 3D is in fact an amazing gift to us all.

Cheetah's fantastic in its own right. Interface is a very important aspect, as is intuitiveness.

It's a matter of what one values more; getting results quicker and easier (Cheetah) or an investment in time getting used to what is at first a daunting and unwieldling interface (Blender) before it becomes apparent just how ideal and productive it really is.

I can never stand to see either of these two apps get criticized, given the price/features.

  • @frigginjoe I installed blender some time ago, I get some of the things you can do with it but I'm a little bit of a noob when it comes to 3D sculpting and animations.. Blender has so many buttons! Is Cheetah more noob friendly? :D

  • @MiotaLee Cheetah is MUCH easier to begin. Immeasurably easier, IMO.

If you use Cheetah 3d, you're more likely to get things done quicker, and more importantly learn the basics as you do it. If and when you need to find a bigger package (that's what she said) you'll at least have a much easier time with adjusting to a new program since the learning how to model aspect isn't paired with a daunting interface.

  • @frigginjoe Thanks :) I'll see what I can do about it

  • is only for mac ?

  • @zikkonn Yes, still Mac only

  • I've never done 3D before and just copied what you did and it came out great. That was fun and easy. Thanks for posting.

  • You don't belong in the 3D profession.

  • I'm shocked you have a lot of people asking you for advise on 3D applications when you can't even pronounce 'Maya' properly. Especially since you also say Blender has a crappy UI.

2.49 isn't bad at all and have you even used 2.5x? Making such an ignorant comment like that within the 3D community is not smart. Blender is extremely powerful and highly used in the 3D community for all 3 OS's. Programmers have invested much blood and sweat to release it free for people like you.

  • @10chadjordan01 I did try both versions of Blender and the newer one is even worse than 2.49. it's one of the worst UI's i've ever seen. That remark about programmers is probably very fitting, i truly believe the UI was designed by programmers, not someone with any experience with that sort of thing. It's probably very powerful application, but i refuse to use it, for example the window management is unbelievably immature, they might as well give it a console input, that's how useless the UI is.

  • @fdsfjsdfjjl Probably very fitting? I can tell that you're not a programmer. Your comments about Blender are your own opinion. I have done amazing and professional things with Blender and I for one appreciate all of the people that make it possible for us, and for free. Open Source software, especially software as good as Blender, should never be taken for granted. Everything that is Blender on my website speaks for itself. It proves that if you understand blender, you can make amazing things.

  • @Neji8Diagrms64Palms I'm surprised you think Blender is hard. Maybe at first glance it may look intimidating to people who have never done 3D modeling/animation, but hard? Writing in Haskell is hard, writing your own vertex shaders and fragment shaders in GLSL for GPU computation is hard. Blender is not that complicated. I've been using it on OS X, Windows and Linux and it's very fast compared to a lot of other 3D applications on the market. What kind of hardware do you have in your computer?

  • @10chadjordan01 Blender is hard for people who don't model much. It has great capabilities but it's frustrating to get adjusted to. You have to spend weeks learning your way around before you can even begin modeling anything worthwhile. Blender is a great and all but not easy. It's not that it's hard to learn it just that for a complete amateur it takes a long time to master to the point they can begin manipulating it's features to create what they want to create.

  • @fmcneillii Fair enough. I've just seen a lot of Blender Bashing on here and being a programmer, I know what kind of work has gone into making Blender and then just making it available for FREE still gets to me even after all this time has gone by. The more I learn, the more I can't believe how much people have gone through to make it available for all of us.

  • @10chadjordan01 I'm a programmer too so I can understand where you're coming from. I use blender myself as well. Also I think you might be right about the latest version of blender (I DL two days ago) it seems they've improved it a lot since I last used it.

  • I highly suggest this program; I have it and it's great, definitely worth the money.

    -Max

  • is it easier then google sketchup to use

  • You know this almost looks almost like K-3D , and Wings3D for Linux...

It really does look almost the same as K-3D, but it is Nice program you got there, and looks like it worth the money...

  • LOL REDNECK ACCENT FTW!

  • tks men! i just downloaded it! cheers!

  • whats a link to this?

  • How did you make the handle curve and the bottom of the cylinder look smaller than the top. i know you said it wasn't a tutorial. I just didn't see how you did it. Also, if you were going to get more detailed would it be possible to make the handle rounder? I don't know what c3d is capable of. thanks.

  • can u make a vid on how to animate

  • cool

  • Nope, Mac only. I would look into an app called Nendo.

It's got a very easy interface and allows painting your objects in 3d.

  • hey if u want something 3d get blender 3d

it is available for windows and its free.

  • Download Blender it's free and I think it would work better on a P.C. than a Mac anyway.

Everytime I tried to use it on my mac it would act funny. Glad Cheetah works for mac.

  • Blender is like EA-Games: it runs emulated on a Mac.

Plus Blender is very complicated and not user-friendly.

  • I agree and I've been using Shade and Shade is way easier than blender in my opinion. However I think Cheetah 3D is way better than Shade!

  • Cheetah is a great 3d program overall, considering the price.

Supporting IK-based skeletons and fbx export are awesome features, and it's really accessible to new users.

    I love it.

Blender is one of the greatest things going, but there's an interface issue or learning curve for a lot of people, whereas Cheetah is a very straightforward UI. (Blender's interface is actually awesome, it's just a bit foreign at first).

I also use Cinema4D, but Cheetah gets more use since I've gotten it.

  • You're an asshole complaining about nothing. Go fucking find something to do... And it's spelled "Dumb shit". Of all things to spell wrong, you screw that up. The irony.

  • blender is free and also available for os x

  • i love 3d cheeth!

  • Google Sketch-up is nice.

  • Wow, what happened to seperate accounts for seperate things?

  • READ THE DESCRIPTION!

  • "READ THE DESCRIPTION! " - emeek

    You're such a tool

  • tools get things done. without them things wouldnt get fixed

  • But you need someone to control the tool to get things fixed. A tool by itself, is useless, and can't fix anything.

So I think I was pretty accurate in my last post.

  • I hate blender, houdini is so much nicer, although maya is also very good!

  • I've tried Blender but Maya and especially Cinema4D seem more powerful and easy to use.

  • not easier, more powerful, yes. But thats not the point man. Blender, I HATE IT! Its good but i hate it.

  • Then why did you once keeped it in your dock?

  • what?

  • try blender its free and great.

a little hard to use but it has everything.

and the blender community is large and helpful.

  • thats not teh point. This is supported. Blender has a great community but cheetah cmmunity is wonderful. And they are giving away teh 5.0 release free to 4.6 owners. Blender is good but because if the UI etc I cant recommend it. If you use this app youll be able to jump to maya etc easy. With blender the UI is so fucked up it wont translate to other apps. learnign cheetah is better than learning blender for this reason

  • Great Application

  • 12 thousand dollars for software i hope u meant 12 hundred

  • nope, lol.

  • No he means 12,000.00

  • You just said twelve-thousand dollars. I think he means twelve-hundred.

  • Yeh im aware i wrote 12,000.00 Dont mean to right you a check but Twelve Thousand --------

    Singed.

  • But hey, this Cheetah is only $69 now.

  • i do mean 12,0000. Ive seen packages go higher. houdini is 8,000

  • Sorry, I didn't know it was that much.

  • He means $12,000. Houdini is $7,995 but if you want a network license its $9,995. There might be a more expensive application but as far as I know Houdini is one of the most expensive.

  • certain Avid software can reach far in excess of 12k

  • to be honest ive seen avid and flint/flame go for 100,000!!!!! thats rack servers, the machines and all. Complete turn key.

  • I thought this channel was dedicated to mac vs pc... Gah..

  • now this pisses me off, im blocking you. fuck you. im now officially tired of your smart ass mouth and bullshit.

  • lol...pwned

  • yet you talk all kind of shit about people.....I guess you can dish it out but aren't man enough to taste your own medicine

  • I started learning lightwave right off the bat at college, When I went to look to buy it for myself (so i could continue at home) I gasped at the price. Still, I'm going to save for it.

Already have zbrush, and thats great. Might start looking into mudbox, ever used that?

  • Silo is also a really nice program but it's more modeling focused.

  • HD will be available soon

  • Great video man, may I ask what microphone you use when you do your recordings>?. Hate your mac vs pc stuff love your tutorials lol.

  • thats why i have 2 channels. lots of people like mac vs pc man

  • What export options do you use for screenflow? And what Mic? As the Video and Audio is great!

  • Yeah I was wondering that, the quality for non-HD is really good, as is the HD, I can usually do one or the other, but not both. Nice vid man! =D
