Thanks for putting the batman image in my head. Now all I can think about throughout the whole song was batman with a top hat and monocle telling poison ivy that the only place for a woman is in the kitchen. Because you know....sexism was cool back then.

Thanks for the info about his parents it makes sense that he is buried in Hammond.Too bad nothing is planned for the 100th anniversary of his death.

@thefabulousmark Herbert Ingraham was from Aurora, Illinois. He led a theatrical company in Chicago before moving to New York. He wrote mostly songs but there's a handful of rags too. He died in 1910 at the age of 27 from tuberculosis.

@Keeper1st  I can't find out why is is burried in Hammond Indiana-His family name is on a street nearby.I guess I'll have to contact the local historical societies.

@thefabulousmark His parents were born in Hammond, Ind., and the family moved back there when Herbert was about nine years old. He started his musical career there. Enter, without quotes, "herbert ingraham indiana" into Google and you'll find a nice bio on Bill Edwards' ragpiano site.
