I was a member of FOOM--I haven't seen this stuff in decades. As a graphic designer I am amazed out just how graphic the magazine covers were. I didn't get it when I was a kid. I lost my membership card when I lost my wallet in a movie theater with my dad the same day I got the kit!
@digitalPublius Yeah, Jim Steranko had his own company back then - Supergraphics - so had a lot of say in the early FOOM issue layouts. Sorry about your wallet getting lost. I wonder what ever happened to that FOOM card and if the person that found your wallet kept it.
strange but these are the definitive versions of these characters when i think of them. your work wasn't just technically good but it hit upon something...thanks
Somewhere out there,is a copy of hulk 163,missing its coupon for foom, that I clipped and sent in. as fast as I put my stickers on my school locker, some asshole would razer them off.I still have one sticker,my four issues, card and poster,as well as hulk mailing envolope. One of the very best fan drawings in issue 3, was done in my presence, by a bud. just shows you, getting printed isnt always a guarentee of a career. This is a reminder of times and mpls.Central high friendships long gone.
