  • I'm a Hufflepuff and proud of it

  • you call it a stupid website? really? then why even join it?

  • @deathbatsevy Can't have an opinion on something you haven't tried, right?

  • @Lidespam true lol

  • Wow. We do not agree on these issues at all! :D Okay well first of all, if people want to identify with the house their house on pottermore why shouldn't they? It's not like they're going to have the real sorting hat to actually sort them so this is the next best thing. Also, the mixing of house names simply says more about which houses you identify with if you have a broader personality. They're not trying to make new houses it's just a fun thing to do.

    I'm a Hufflepuff, been one since i was 9

  • I am a Slytherin, I am ambitious, I follow my dreams and be whoo I want to be.

  • This made me feel better so much better about my Sorting. I always doubted between Ravenclaw and Slytherin. Ravenclaw for the exact reasons you said (including the non-Ravenclaw-esque feature) and Slytherin because I consider one of my most typical features to be my ambition. I got sorted into Gryffindor, where I don't belong at all. Better said, WANT to belong. So this rant just proved to me that not everyone thinks Rowling is a God who instantly knows your personality. Thanks for that. :)

  • @TheLeatherJacket I even read somewhere that all four houses in pottermore have approximately the same amount of 'students' right now, which shows they might not even be trying to find your "real" house.

  • @Lidespam Saw that too! It's never mentioned in the books how many students there are in each House, but considering it's based on personality, it doesn't make any sense if there'd be the same amount of students in each House. Yet on Pottermore, it's sorta equal to have an equal chance to win the Cup.So yeah, it might be kinda 'unfair' in that way.

  • Oh, and are you by any chance a nerdfighter, btw? I saw Bouke and Nicolas reply to this, but I don't if it's because they know you - being nerdfighter and all - or just because they thought the vid was awesome. :P

  • @TheLeatherJacket Yes, I'm a (Dutch) nerdfighter! How do you know Bouke and Nicolas? :D

  • @Lidespam Belgian nerdfighter ^___^ I was on the Nerdfightermeeting in Bruges with John Green. They were there as well. :) Oh, another thing that slipped into my mind: The Actual Sorting Hat takes your deepest wishes into account, the Test doesn't. Potter could've wound up quite easily in Slytherin if he hadn't be so clear about the fact that he didn't WANT to end up there. Which - considering it had quite an effect on how the books turned out - is quite a big flaw.

  • Ravenclaw :D Really happy since its the house I wanted.

  • I'd have to agree with you there. Although I am definitely borderline between Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff, and while I choose Ravenclaw I think if Pottermore sorts me into Hufflepuff, I'll accept my inner Hufflepuffian... if it sorts me into Gryffindor or Slytherin though... I don't know.

  • I AGREE WITH THIS COMPLETELY.

Also you are very cute when in a Ravenclaw robe and defending self-sorting rights etc. <3

  • @mariannerrrd I AM GLAD YOU DO. :D.

  • i have no idea which house i would get sorted in. Please feel free to sort me. I'm quite curious to see what you'd come up with.

  • @Edw1nS1984 ohh! I'm not sure I know you well enough! Watching your VEDA videos now! Wait for it.

  • @Edw1nS1984 Based on your VEDA videos, I'm leaning towards Gryffindor :) Part of it is the motivational speaker thing, because it seems like a.. dream-big sort of thing, which I think is pretty Gryffindor (or Slytherin, but they wouldn't want to, like, inspire people). Also, I think the fact that although you say you're not comfortable talking about certain things, you still do it is very Gryffindor! Not backing down/hiding from a fight. Tell me if you agree xD Cuz, you know, I might be wrong :)

  • @Lidespam sounds good :) thanks ! another thing to cross off my bucket list :)

  • I always say Slytherin. I'm just so cynical and bitchy and I usually do what I need to in order to get what I want. On the other hand I'm super loyal to the people I'm close to and I value that in others. I'm very confused on the whole thing.

  • Huffleclaw for life :D

I self sorted myself into Ravenclaw

I got Pottermore sorted into Hufflepuff

    i love both houses <3

  • If I don't get put in Slytherin, the sorting hat is broken.

  • I thought I was a Ravenclaw but pottermore sorted me into Hufflepuff. I prepared myself for being sorted in gryffindor or even slytherin, but not hufflepuff. I think I'm coming to terms with it, but in my heart I'll always be a Ravenclaw :D

  • Nooit bij stilgestaan dat Accio ook uitgesproken kan worden als axio :') ik zeg gewoon Akkio, works for me ^_^

  • I want to see Pottermore! Can't wait for October to come around

  • OMG HATE YOU NOWW <3

    i'm a ravehufyndorrr

    :)

    #howannoyingami

  • @ilsehugsbeatles You are WAY too ravenclaw for your own good. just saying.

  • some things you haven't thought about yet.

So I'm just hoping the site gives an explanation why you got sorted into the house it put you in and won't just say "Yay you're a Gryffindor kthnxbai!"

As we've talked about before, I think I am probably a Hufflepuff, since I'm all about the people ;p

    (2/2)

    <3<3

  • xD I love you <3

Still waiting for my welcome letter and I am really curious as to where I'll be sorted by the website. I haven't been spoiled yet about how it sorts you, but I'm thinking it's something like a personality test and I always find those very interesting^^

I totally agree with you that you do know yourself better than any sort of test, so whatever the results may be you might feel like they are not correct at all. But whether false or true, the results might open your eyes to (1/2)

  • I believe that I am either a Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff. I see myself having qualities that apply to either house. I am intrigued to see what Pottermore says because it will be a third party opinion. However, I am still going to hold true to what I think of myself.

  • All this talking is making me sooo curious about pottermore #givememyemail!!

I'm not sure which house I would be in. When I was younger I was convinced I was a ravenclaw (pretty much for the same reasons you talked about). It's not that I value knowledge any less, but I am much more focused on how people use their knowledge in daily life. I really enjoy getting things done and taking responsibility and stuff.. But maybe that happens to more ravenclaws past Hogwarts age XD

  • @lianneinthebigworld Yeah, I know what you mean. I'm not as knowledge-obsessed as I used to be anymore, either.

  • @blackroseNY Tell me something about yourself!

  • @momoyen Ha. YES.

  • nox!

me and my roommate from leakycon were discussing this, and we also agreed that an arbitrary computer quiz can't sort you; the real sorting hat knows *everything* about you and can see into your SOUL. Pottermore can't do this.

I need to be sorted~ you can use the graph to sort me. xD hmm. I don't identify as any house. #neutral

  • @lilyenc I already sorted you! #ravenclaw

  • @Lidespam noes! #denial

  • @Lidespam haha actually I shouldn't be in denial because I asked you to sort me. xD

I will consider. and think about it. write an essay justifying it. :D

  • @josiebbooks That is awesome! I love hufflepuffs & always thought Luna would probably have done well in Hufflepuff as well :)

  • To tell you which house I'm in apparently took some explaining, so I had fun writing a really long commet which I'll post on tumblr since it's way too long for youtube. :P

  • @Holtza I was on your tumblr BUT DIDN'T SEE IT. Lemme know when you post? :D

  • @Lidespam It might appear overly fiery. I got sort of caught up in it. xD <3

  • @Holtza LOOKING FORWARD TO IT

  • @Lidespam Well, that was my way of saying that I've already posted it. ;) @replied you on twitter too.

  • @Holtza I LOVE IT. And totally understand. That is awesome. Your post makes me seriously consider that I might be a Gryffindor. Just saying.

  • @Holtza I'm checking yo tumblr. ^^

  • I'm a Hufflepuff.

And I agree on your pronunciation of accio because that's how Stephen Fry says it in the audio books :)

  • I'm in a weird place when it comes to my house. I know I'm not Slytherin. I am not ambitious at all. In January, I *decided* Hufflepuff, because I do value equality, and fairness, but... I'm not hard-working. Then this summer, I took a few tests where Ravenclaw comes in a close second, if not first. I love books, and am intelligent and creative, so it could make sense. But, my Meyers-Briggs personality (which I really relate to) makes me a Gryffindor.

  • I read HP with 27...so...the house obsession(and categorizing people <-- makes me sad as a nerdfighter)...is weird for me.

I think I would be a Hufflepuff because I want the best for everybody and I have very, VERY strong opinions. A maximum of knowlegde is the foundation for everything. :)

  • @firnantok not wanting to categorize people does strike me as a hufflepuff quality :)

  • Also the spanish word to beckon is acci a derivative and is pronounced akey so it's more logical to say akio rather than axio

  • I guess people do want to be in a certain house on Pottermore. If you get sorted in the "wrong" house, you're stuck with that. I guess one can make a new account in October, but still.

I'd say the quiz is slightly more valid than other internet quizzes because JK was closely involved in it, but it's not really in-depth, and the only way to get sorted remains the actual Sorting Hat.

And the discussion of accio is a battle between classic and Anglicised pronunciation. And Stephen Fry. #audiobook

  • BTW

Lidewij what did pottermore sort you into?

  • @129das it didn't sort me yet! I haven't gotten my e-mail yet.

  • Axio and akio are both wrong in latin cc is pronounced ch it should be pronounced achio but I often go with akio because it sounds better

  • @Chrisindapurplehouse I'm not sure there's reason to believe ACCIO as a spell was used by wizards in Rome 2000 years ago, though. I mean. In normal, everyday English CC is most commonly pronounced as KS (these words are Latin sometimes, too, but that doesn't stop us). So I don't see why we can't just pronounce accio like it's a normal English word. But yeah. :).

  • @Lidespam A spell word? To me it just means to beckon. because thats what it means in latin. I didn't know it was actually used as a spell.

  • I think gryffindors are a bit up themselves because their house is the one the seems to be the center of hogwarts so they can be a bit arrogant about it.

  • But then again I also know about science, literature and history and inspite of me being dyslexic and autistic. I'm still at the top of my class. So intelligence and perseverance. I'm also loyal, trust worthy and a particularly good finder. I don't know what I'm, but I feel affinity with gryffindore and slytherin more.

  • @Chrisindapurplehouse I think you are a Slytherin.

  • @129das Aw that makes me feel bad

  • I am caught between gryffindore and slytherin I'm brave but ambitious my names in many languages means brave one but I felt if i went slytherin I'm kind of giving in to evil

  • @Chrisindapurplehouse Slytherin doesnt mean evil they just are most likle to be evil they are high ego people same can be said for gryffindor and ravenclaw. But in Slytherins case with there Ambitions and for most Goal to be the best it can be exstream. I think most dark wizards and witch's are Slytherin because they dont fear the darkness like the others.

  • @129das But in th books theyre almost introduced as the evil house I know things arent black and white like that but they have a reputation and I just wouldn't want I'd tell people my house and I'd get judged for it

  • @Chrisindapurplehouse the you can be a ravenclaw remember the hate takes you choose into facter as well. if you dont want to be a slytherin I think the hat would put you in ravenclaw.

  • @129das Slytherin does have a cool common room though

  • Sort me! I've always been hopelessly lost when it comes to house identity...

On Accio: the correct pronunciation is ACK-EE-O not AX-EE-O. Being the (admittedly mediocre) latin scholar that I am, I can tell you that Accio is a Latin word meaning "I summon". In latin all C's are pronounced hard (like a K). Even good ol Caesar would be called Kaesar, hence the word Kaiser in German meaning emperor.

But I can certainly appreciate that everyone has their own thoughts on this!

    ... please sort me.

  • @papernaut12 Just because it's the latin pronunciation doesn't have to mean they pornounce the spell that way though :).

  • @papernaut12 I know about the Latin, but we have LOTS of words that are (derived from) Latin, and we don't pronounce those 'properly'. The most common pronunciation of CC in English (as far as I know) is KS, no matter the word's origin. Besides, I bet vowels in Latin were pronounced differently, too, but no one is arguing about those. :). As for the sorting.. tell me something about yourself?

  • Lidewij, I can't actually remember if I got through on Pottermore. I've still not got an email so I'm guessing no.

  • I'm a Hufflepuff although I could be a Gryffindor I just not that reckless. I Believe in fair play and am super loyal, and But yet I do not fear to speak my mind. I am kinda hearted and soft spoken I also know how to tell what BS is I will tell you if I see it. Observen yet competative. Two things I hate people are like im Gryffindor or Slytherin and I know it is BS. People who think Hufflepuff is weak really there just diiferent.

  • [cont]... Maybe when I was younger I chose Gryffindor as it was "the good house". Being older, I do truly value bravery, honour and chivalry. I believe myself to be chivalrous, sometime I think I am brave and sometimes I distinctly feel that's a complete lie. The other thing is, loyalty means a lot to me (though I think this is tied in with honour to be fair) and acceptance means so much to me - both Hufflepuff traits. So yeah. That's why...

  • @j1field you said it dude "The Good House" the thing is the books are writen in a Gryffindor view, But if you think about it Snape is like a prefict Slytherin hard working, careful thinking, and goal oranted. As for Gryffindor they are reakless, taunted, competive, almost like the jocks of the school.

  • I agree with pretty much everything you said but I think you got one thing wrong...

People are not taking Pottermore's sorting as "the real truth", they just don't want Pottermore sorting them into the WRONG house. People don't want to "represent" the wrong house for them and to change houses, people will have to sign up a different email etc.

As for sorting myself, I confess to generally answering the question as Gryffindor/Gryffinpuff. Why? *sigh* ...[cont]

  • @j1field Not everybody is, of course, but lots of people I follow on various websites have been talking about how apparently the got their house 'wrong' all those years. And it just makes me mad. xD.

You are a total Gryffindor, btw. :D.

  • It's the closest to the 'real' sorting though, and I think they tested it pretty well. The thing is, that your house doesn't have to be the house you identify most with, but also the house you will - uhm, I can't find the right word..grow, I guess the most in.

I'm in Ravenclaw on Pottermore, and it's the house I identify most with, and I think it would be the best learning environment for me..I'd probably get distracted too easily in say, Gryffindor. After that I identify most with Hufflepuff.

  • @Evanna11LilyLuna OH. That is interesting. I never really.. considered that as a possibility at all. ('that' being the idea that maybe we're sorted into the house that will allow you to grow most). BRB NEED TO THINK ABOUT THIS. :D. <3.

  • Of course there is only one way to pronounce "accio". If you listen to the audio books, Stephen Fry says 'ax-i-o', and no one should ever argue with Stephen Fry. Ever.

  • u mad bro? hihi I'm glad you did this rant because some people were crying and throwing stuff and went ALL CAPS RAGE on everyone. I'm just taking that sorting thing and if I'm something else then Ravenclaw...well imma be happy anyone cuz I'll always be a Ravenclaw. You kinda know why right :p I hope that people that get into Ravenclaw read the information thing after they have been sorted because IT IS AN EAGLE PEOPLE NOT A RAVEN AND THE COLORS ARE BLUE AND GOLD NOT SILVER! ...stupid movie crest

  • @Samsam1034 No no, gold is one of Gryffindor's colours. Ravenclaw is blue and bronze. But yeah, silver is a Slytherin colour. Not sure why they put that in Ravenclaw as well for the movies... :/

  • @JoinTheMadVender @Samsam1034 pretty sure they did it because it looks better ^_^ also, I have blue/silver everything, because bronze merch doesn't really exist (and if it does it looks SUPER yellow #hufflepuff)

  • I like badgers and with that I mean that I am utterly intrigued by how good and kind and awesome people can be, if only you take the time to get to know them.

  • I'm a Ravenclaw too (:

A couple of years ago, I couldn't figure out which house I was in, so. I had a purple tie and everything. Then I figured I'm a Ravenclaw. Even Pottermore's sorting hat sorted me in Ravenclaw. Basically for the same reasons you're a Ravenclaw :'D.

I agree with you, I mean... why would you sell the-house-you-thought-you-were-in's stuff, because this website told you you're not in that house? o.o (That's even worse when you thought you're a Hufflepuff, it's not very loyal!)

  • Everyone has ambition, intelligence, bravery... and... finding >_>

  • @coolstream1 :D

  • awesome video! I can't wait to get into pottermore and honestly I will be a little disappointed if I get sorted into the "wrong" house - but just like you said, it doesn't change anything. pottermore is a website, not Hogwarts (unfortunately).

    cheers.

  • I am a Slytherin with Ravenclaw as a close second but I'm pretty sure I would be a muggleborn Slytherin.

  • But I wasn't sorted and I am too old now. I wish I could be sorted by the sorting hat. Either Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff. What do you think?

  • @AlleyWater I think Hufflepuff, but I'm not sure. Are you more of a group-person, or do you prefer/are you better at doing stuff by yourself? Also, are you better with learning from books, or, like, with handling practical/real life situations?

  • Oh, and thanks for an awesome video :)

    I LOVE honest rant videos!!

  • It could be argued that I'd be a Ravenclaw. And sometimes I do feel like one. But "in the end/deep down/whatever you want to call it", the things that matter most to me is equality and fairness. That's why I've always said Hufflepuff. Especially since the sorting hat takes your choice into consideration. I find the Hufflepuff side of me more valuable than the Ravenclaw.

I think knowledge is EXTREMELY important. But I cannot stand when people feel "better" 'cause they have knowledge. We're equal!

  • @nicciweasley Good point.. I've been sorted into Ravenclaw, and identify with Hufflepuff most after that, and the only thing that has annoyed me about Ravenclaw so far is that some Ravenclaws can be a bit arrogant/think of themselves to highly sometimes.

  • @Evanna11LilyLuna Hm, Iso maybe f I was eleven and really going to Hogwarts I should've been sorted into Hufflepuff, because I've changed quite a lot since I was eleven, and I'm not sure how much I'd care about equality and being fair if I were to be sorted into Ravenclaw at that age.

  • @Evanna11LilyLuna Exactly.

Though, let me just point out that I didn't mean it like a "so Hufflepuff is better than Ravenclaw"-thing.

It's a completely personal thing... That, for me, how we see and how we treat each other and ourselves is the most important thing. First priority!! How we prioritize is so very individual.

  • I totally agree with you!

(Though I'm still happy I got my Hufflepuff)

  • I agree with you! J.K. Rowling can't look into our brains like the Sorting Hat can. We ourselves are the ones who can see in our heads best, so we are the ones who will most likely know which house we belong to.

I consider myself to be a Hufflepuff and even if Pottermore disagrees with me, I will be a Hufflepuff!

  • oh shit autocorrect. it is not potter more. they need to update their vocabulary!

  • see what i did with the your instead of you're here? brilliant Anna... just awesome.

  • wow.. some really important hard hitting points there... I'll need to meditate about those. :P

  • I get what your saying and I know that the quiz is probably shit but I am just gonna imagine it is the real thing.

Hermiones friends and she herself would have probably sorted her into Ravenclaw and Neville into Hufflepuff... but then again, it's not as if people need to buy new attire because they got into a different house on potter more. I will stay a Hufflepuff :)

    <33

  • @ohhianna The Neville/Hermione thing is interesting, yeah. Someone else said that maybe we're not sorted into a house that fits us best, but sorted into the house that will allow us to.. improve most. Which I think is a very interesting idea.

  • I am not in a house yet because you know why? I didn't get my Pottermore mail yet! SO BUMMED! But anyway, I agree with you. Just accept the website, it's not like this is going on your resume. Some people need to calm down about this!

  • @heyjorine You are either a Hufflepuff, or a Ravenclaw. If you don't care a LOT, I am hereby sorting you into hufflepuff. You're welcome. ;D.

  • I have no idea what house I'm in because I don't know much about Harry Potter, but I agree with everything you said in the video because these things can be transposed to other issues.

  • I know my dominant house is Hufflepuff. I hope I get put into it. :) And you are so a Ravenclaw. Just talking to you on twitter and watching your videos, it shows.
