just a little fix : contra-tiempo is not dancing on2.

Contra-tiempo means you dance at the middle of the intervall notes(1-AND-2-AND-3-AND-4-AND-­5-AND-6-AND-7-AND-8-AND).

Whereas, On2 means you start your turns on 2 and 6 (whatever on what you begin your routines).

man...you're wrong! dancing in Contratiempo is dancing iven on 2 or on 4-th time of the song. Anyway they dance on 3( in tiempo) but the fautl is on youtube video compilation.

My dear friend! My information is from several cuban teachers and musicians... so i'll try to put in a short note what "on tiempo" and "contratiempo" means... so: Cuban-style salsa (also called Casino) can be danced either on the downbeat ("a tiempo") or the upbeat ("a contratiempo"). Beats 1,3,5 and 7 are downbeats and 2,4,6 and 8 are upbeats! I hope everything is clear!!! Salsaludos!

I have been teaching salsa for over 8 years, if your not lookin to compete, I dont matter what beat you dance on, as long as you and your partner move together it matters not if you dance on the 1 2 3 4 or the 4.5 lol

It's not a question of competition but the savour of dance. Yes, you can dance on whatever you want. So what? Changing the way you dance, change the way you taste it. That's why we had this discussion. Sure It would be better to speak about tumbaos and the way juan played with them.
