  • wow, screw woodstock, i want to go to that show!

  • WOW, this is some incredible footage! It's like a tidal wave of musical influence, before it hit's the shore!

  • wow, amazing clip

  • Love it! :)

  • rip all the greatest legends!!!!!

  • I don't think this is real.... Color? in 1956? I suspect a promo video for the Broadway show (soon to be a movie, iirc)

  • @b2pi There are color footage from WW2, so.. :)

  • wrong,it was at the cotton club.

    Buddy best hi school friend

  • Just gotta say, that had to have been the most memorable prom ever, if not at the time, in retrospect for sure. Four Sun Studio legends at your H.S. prom. Are you kidding? I visited Memphis last year and it isn't Sun Studios... plural is not correct. It is and always has been a single studio. Highly recommend the tour.

  • @SickSupreme88 dick head ! respect the king ..johnny cash would have told you himself how great Elvis is ..

  • Sam and Sun Records brought the world some or the greats artists of all times.

Fighting all the odd's and the large labels Sam came out on top.

We would like to thank Sam and Sun for the Great Job'

  • Ah, 3 guys who could write amazing songs. And Elvis.

  • wow. anyone out there at the dance to testify?

  • Wow..just amazing, Buddy Holly, Elvis, Johnny Cash, and Carl Perkins. Truly a legendary night. Everyone who was there for that dance must be so blessed now just to have been in the same room with future legends !

  • @haitipi I am not sure who owns this clip. I got it from an aunt and never found out where she got it.

  • That is pretty impressive. Who owns the film?

  • jhonny cash and elvis = HOLY SHIT.

  • Very rare indeed, love it.

  • Kudos to the prom planning committee.

  • 4 of the best ever Cash,Holly,Perkins, and Moore piss on Evlis

  • @thedoctor10able Hell yeah. Scotty Moore.

  • RIP

  • this video is great many thanks .

  • ...and the great Scotty Moore with his big wide grin. They were all about 18-20 years old at that time

  • @rlholo

Cash was 24, I'm too lazy to check the dates of the others. Good lookin' dudes they were...

  • gotta love youtube, huh?

  • Where Dylan!?

  • What is the tune playing behind the voice here and played by whom?

  • This video just blew my mind

  • Fantastic heroes together. I like that

  • four of the best ever!

  • I cant rap my head around the amount of raw talent that was in that room... Amazing

  • wow! man thats crazy.

i think just being next to Elvis you get 'better lookin'...or uglier. hell i dont know man.

    WOW! to cool

  • great footage

  • Anybody here heard of Sun Records? Gee....

  • damn this kicks more ass than Elvis meets the Beatles

  • Wow that's pretty intense, can imagine being there.

  • could you even imagina what kind of band it would be, if they would formed it?

  • Thanks for posting this rare footage!

  • Amazing pictures (shame there's no music). Thanks for posting.

  • Kings of the world

  • carl perkins dosent get enough attention, he was a great guitar player.R.I.P

  • Wow,

    Elvis..

He really didn't seem to age up until he died,

But that was from drug use and what not.

Johnny Cash, Big ol' ears, haha.

    He wasn't bad looking though.

  • OMG superb ,awesome

  • elvis and johnny are my idolssss!

  • holly shit that's early and it's weird to see all of them in one room

  • Amazing! All of these guys together at this "prom"? Wowzee - who wouldn't have loved that???!!!

  • Johnnyyy!!

  • buddy wasn't 'sharing the bill with elvis', he just happened to be there

  • If the person who owns this footage was smart enough to copyright it, I can't imagine how rich they would be to own such rare footage. But overall, it is priceless!!!

  • it's just numbers (of the Beast) nothing else

  • einfach nur geil

  • sonnen, hast du den video gesehen mit die beist's seichnen ?

  • if eddie cochran would have been there ...that could have been the greatest rock n´ roll reunion...

  • Incredible!!!

    Thank you, for this!

  • I agree, very believable, but Elvis is never at any part joined with Buddy or Perkins, Very good eyesite forgery.

  • Well I know Elvis, Johnny Cash and Jerry Lee Lewis toured together for sure. I don't know about the others. I would not doubt it though.

  • elvis, cash and perkins have toured together, lewis toured with cash & perkins, but elvis never toured with lewis

although the 'walk the line' movie seems to make us believe so...

  • what do you mean? carl was the guitar player for johny cashes band

  • Actually, Luther Perkins was the guitar player for J. Cash, then Bob Wooten.

  • oh. my bad are they related?

  • Not that I know of... but Carl Perkins did tour with Johnny Cash. Elvis made C. Perkins famous by recording Blue Suede shoes, which Perkins actually wrote.

  • oh okay

  • not true, carl perkins made blue suede shoes famous BEFORE elvis presley

  • @Brutus2

you are right. Presley really only kept it famous. Perkins version made it higher on the charts, but you really only hear presley's version unless you are looking for the perkins version.

  • yeah, heartbreak hotel & perkins' blue suede shoes sped up the charts simultanuously, presley ending a few spots higher. the rest is history

  • @NunyaBSwaks

thats probably because it was one of four songs, as they were putting 2 tunes per side...betting it was B side.

like old shep' and 'thats all right mama'.

now go make me a p-nut butta and banana sandwich.

ps. guarantee...every karaoke singer in the world 'thinks of Elvis doin this song'.

  • Elvis, Jerry Lee, Carl and Johnyy and of course Roy orbision were all Friends because they did Tour all toughter nobody Remembers the MIllionendollar Quartat: Johnny Cash, Roy Orbision, Jerry Lee lewis, Elivis Presly, Carl Perkins

  • i know man

  • @nusucker Roy Orbison wasn't in the Million Dollar Quartet. If he was it wouldn't be a quartet but a quintet.

  • @ksufler the famous "million dollar quartet" of sun records was elvis presley. johnny cash, carl perkins, and jerry lee lewis. there is a very famous photograph of the four of them at sun studio and the photo is referred to as 'the million dollar quartet'. the look on jerry lee's face is priceless. he seems to be thinking "why in the hell is elvis the one sittin behind the piano?

  • @ksufler Nor was Buddy Holly.

  • this footage is gold !!

  • On Buddys' left is one of rock'n'rolls most underrated performers...Sonny Curtis(He wrote "I fought the Law" around the mid 50's.)

  • This footage is edited together from different sources, In spite of what the narrator is saying, they were never actually all together at the same time. Never happened.

  • actually it is really possible because johnny elvis and carl all were signed by sam phillips i dont know about buddy... but very possible

  • It does seem pretty incredible doesn't it? I'd like to see some authentication.

  • This is great. It's on a DVD or VHS I have.

  • A True Treasure video!!!

  • I saw will smith in the back ground too.

  • ahhahahaahahahahhaa

  • god i wish i was there how damn cool would it be to have all of them at your prom!

  • well this was new

  • Very strange they don't mention bob dylan. He's at 1:00

  • don,t think that's him, 10 years too early...

  • sorry 5 years...

  • did look like him tho...i thot it was him too lol

  • ... excelente!!

  • For all those that don't know. Bob Dylan made his first recording with a friends tape recorder in 1959. His first album came out in 1962 i believe.

  • Jesus what I wouldn't have given to be at this gig before they all became drunks, junkies or flying mince!

  • that aint bob dylan...he hadnt started his career yet...

  • Dylan is the quy on violin

  • Amazing footage. Wow!

  • where is dylan???

  • he dressed as buddy holly here;P

  • and I see John Lennon in the group, too. Awesome. DUMB.

  • Yeah , John Lennon , Elton John and Robert Plant ... all together here :)

  • If you look carefully, after about 40 seconds, you can see Papa Smurf

  • Also, was that frank sinatra on the left?

  • did bob dylan and elvis ever meet by the way?

  • Dylan's NOT in the video. outerspacerocker, Dylan recorded a song called WENT TO SEE THE GYPSY that seems to have been about Elvis, 'tho it's uncertain if he didmeet him.

  • yeah, I know dylan when I see him! ;)

hmmmm, I will have a look around to find some info if they ever met... Could phone up Bob???

  • he was born in 41' in minnesto he would not have been there. i think he ment to right buddy holly not bob dylan

  • My mom always talked about this show.

    She was there ...

    the doyd

  • there's no dylan.

  • Maybe Bob's just Blowin in the wind at this place, as I dont see him there, he would have been a child, but cool shots of a really young Cash, though, and just look at Buddy, poor thing.

  • he was there.. just not the same city .. probably in minnesota cold as hell.

  • hey where's bob dylan ????

b.D. could have been there (although chances where quite slim) he was born in 940 so he was 15 at the time ...

  • He couldnt have been there on that night.. Johnny Cash didnt meet Bob Dylan in 50s...

  • ok ok !

i was just mentionning the misleading title of that vid

Actually I don't care much about when they met ! ...

what's important is why they met and what they did together for our own pleasure.

    No ?...

  • change the title of the video please.

  • that's not bob dylan, it's buddy holly.

  • theres no bob dylan in this video- he was 14 old years old and still went to school in 1956

  • RomiFer: I don't believe you.

    You're a liar.

    totally fake crap.

  • Here they are: Johnny's guitarist at the far left, Elvis, Johnny's bassist to the far right, and Johnny walking around in the backround

  • People use Bob Dylan's name

to get us to view there channel.

    What a scam !!

    Have a nice day

  • Where's Bob?!? shouldn't he be touring with Elvis in 1955!? Whoever posted this is an idiot

  • Bob would be 14 years old!!!

  • you are so right. bob was like eleven at this time.

  • This is a fake!! No Bob Dylan... :P

  • no thats not bob dylan.. the guy that put his name there is a douche. jk buddy. you're just mistaken, or just and azzole.

  • it was really great but where was BOB DYLAN!!!

i would have rather seen him, elvis and johnny!

  • Wow. I'm really nostalgic so to me this is just so cool to see. Thanks for posting it. =)

  • hahaha johnny cash looks so shy

  • woah bob dylan looked like and was called buddy holly!

  • HAHA. right on but it's still an awesome video. but seriously man (Romiferr, you can probably change the video title.. unless you wanted it to say 'Bob Dylan' for some reason?

  • Came to it through Bob Dylan search so quite glad it's wrong actually.

    What a great vid

  • that wasnt bob.... was it????? and if so why would they call him buddy holly. i dont even think bob meet johnny by that time

  • yeah that isn't bob in the slightest ha, no idea why his name is in the title. dylan and cash hadn't met then either.

  • there is no way they met dylan wasnt even famous or even in ny. plus it doesnt look like him at ALL

  • Ha... that auditorium is down the street from me.

  • BUDDY HOLLY NOT BOB DYLAN

  • I would have loved to go to that show!

  • I'd rather see Dylan

  • Dyland recorded the vid.

  • thank f-ck you saw them too!! i thought my hallucinations had returned!

  • If you look closely at 1:04, you can see Bruce Springsteen talking to Madonna and Eminem.

  • springsteen? i didn't see any springsteen. but i sure as hell DID see tupac shakur.

  • Tupac? Is that who it was? I thought it was Lead Belly.

  • oh, you're right. either lead belly or louis armstrong.

  • I think by Bob Dylan he means Buddy Holly, the video says that but the title doesnt mention Holly.

  • I THINK YOUR RIGHT....

  • Yep, I was about to say that too. It's Buddy Holly, not Bob Dylan.

  • Where the f is bob dylan is this video man?

  • donde esta dylan... farsante

  • james burton didn't play for elvis until the 60's....that is scotty moore

  • Bob Dylan is not even on There cause johnny cash did not meet bob dylan till the newport folk festival in 1964 .... thats a simple bob dylan fact

  • I thought the guy in the orange shirt was James Burton. He played with Elvis and Rick Nelson.

  • very cool...

  • ........ do you even kno who bob dylan is????

  • johnny cash <3

  • too bad the video is so short.

  • :-( I thought the same thing. I can never get enough of Elvis. I have a couple of his concert clips, but youtube rejected them. One is him doing My Way, and it is very good. Too bad I can not upload it here. :-(

  • Dude, there is no Bob Dylan! That's Buddy Holly..

  • I reconize Buddy, but I am still trying to figure out who is in the orange shirt with the tie.

  • That's Scotty Moore, Elvis' guitarist... Mistery solved :D

  • Thanks :D

  • Most amazing video ever!!! You rock for putting this up! But where is robert?

  • I was thinking that Bob was in the orange shirt, and tie, but I think now I was mistaken, got any clue who it is?
